Avatar f tn Again, only half the story. Red Star is posting the part that is always pointed out by the anti-statin crowd. Here's what they ALWAYS fail to point out, there was no evidence to show a relationship between statins and memory loss, but it was observed in a very, very small percentage of those on statins so they added the warning. Hefre's the link to the announcement from the FDA which you will see they could prove no link, only an observation. http://www.fda.
Avatar m tn Effective in June 2011 the FDA recommends limiting the dose of simvastatin to a maximum dose of 40 mg, with the exception of patients already taking simvastatin 80 mg daily for a period of greater than 12 months who have not developed any myalgia side effects. The FDA make this restriction because at the highest dose of simvastatin 80 mg daily the incidence of serious myopathy was higher than using other available statins.
Avatar f tn Crestor is a statin (rosuvastatin calcium) only, Vytorin is a statin (Simvastatin) with Zetia (ezetimibe). Statins work by controlling the production of cholesterol in your liver while Zetia works by preventing cholesterol to be absorbed in your digestive system. Of the two, Crestor is the stronger of the two. In addition, recent trials have shown that adding Zetia does not improve the performance of Vytorin over Simvastatin alone.

As I was taking simvastatin, I was in fibrillation 17% of the time; 1 month after I stopped simvastatin, the level was down to 0%. I am now experimenting with alternative cholesterol control methods: Omega 3 gels, ground linseed, charcoal.

Avatar m tn here is the article about simvastatin anti-hbv effect and combo with nucs, i am interested in etv+sim combo but it is not clear what 300:1 or 100:1 means, is that 300mg of sim per 1mg of etv and 100mg sim + 1mg of etv? because both 300mg and 100mg of sim are more than FDA approved sim dose (max dose 80mg), the only safe dose would be 50mg sim+0.5mg etv, what do you think? https://docs.google.com/fileview?
Avatar m tn it includes some of the following Cipro,Ciproxin,Ciprobay,Ciproproxine,Ciflox and Livaquin, Two other medications in this group have been taken off the market by the FDA some time ago for the nasty reactions they had. There are a lot of other antibiotics that don't have these nasty side affects and are safe to use, although when taking to many antibiotics your stystem could become immune to them and when you have an infection they don't do much good.

Avatar m tn t find the warning. The conselor reiterated that though the test is FDA approved, that the FTC has issued a warning concerning home testing accuracy--home testing being the Home Access test. Basically what I'm trying to get at is... 1.
Avatar f tn I think they are saying these effects are in the realm of possibility because although it isn't clear exactly how Copaxone does what it does, it does alter part of immune system function. Remember, it's an immunomodulator. (Don't know if it makes you feel any better but there are plenty more drugs approved long before anybody understands the why or how of their success.
Avatar m tn As a matter of fact, she began taking the Simvastatin 20 mg a few years ago because her insurance no longer covered her usual cholesterol medication so the doctor had to switch her to Simvastatin. I remember when she first had to switch to Simvastatin, she complained about how her stomach hurt and how it gave her headaches. Since then she has just accepted it and taken the medication. Perhaps the Simvastatin is taking its toll on her.

757137 tn?1347196453 The FDA has issued a stern warning concerning the use of Advair. Not only can it worsen asthma, but the side effects can be fatal. Other forms of treatment should be sought and, if the product is used at all, it should be for short periods of time. Advair affected my adrenals, harmed my eyes, and worsened my asthma. It caused such serious choking that I feared it would kill me. I stopped taking it last August and am doing fine on natural anti-inflammatories.
