Within 4 months he had developed alopecia universalis, with total head and body hair loss. He had no symptoms of endocrine disease and a thorough examination revealed no abnormality. He was therefore commenced on zinc sulphate supplements; however, there was no improvement of his alopecia after 2 months and this was therefore discontinued.

I quit taking the simvastatin last tuesday, and by friday I looked perfectly normal with no steroid cream......

I use simvastatin to lower the cholesterol and lisinopril to lower the bp. The lisinopril works w/o the simvastatin and v.v.
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker while lisnopril is an angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE) inhibitor. Both groups of drugs and simvastatin are unlikely to cause erectile dysfunction. However yes, all three of them can cause swelling of ankles. Talk to your doctor. You can change your medications. Among antihypertensives you need to avoid thiazides , beta blockers and alpha blockers.
High blood pressure and reduced blood supply to penis can also cause erectile dysfunction.
I have been on 20 mg of simvastatin and 3000 mg niaspan now my ck levels have went from 60 to 295 i could hardly walk .will my levels come down if i lower dose. and reverse damage. i have 12 stents .the rest of my blood work is fine.
Am experiencing shortness of breath, lightheadedness, arrythmias, and feeling very tired at times I have memory loss and confusion. I am on flecanide and metoporol. I had flu in October and also put on simvastatin symptoms of junctional rhythm started in same time frame. Do I have cardiomyopathy? And how serious is all this. Ep showed great arteries and I've stopped simvastatin as I thought this might be the problem with junctional rhythm.

While in the the Navy he was responsibilty for overseeing the cannons on ship, and as a result has had some hearing loss ever since. About 20 yrs ago he finally got hearing aids and was able to hear much better. But then about 6 mos ago he got up one morning and could not hear at all in his left ear. He went to the doctor right away and was told that he had "sudden hearing loss". The doctor said that sometimes within a month or so, the hearing comes back, but his did not.
On a recent blood test my potassium level was above normal. I stopped taking simvastatin. After 3 months I took another blood test and now my cholesterol level has risen to 6.5. What shall I do. I am seeing my Doctor next week.
I just finished Sovaldi and olysio and no hair loss at all, in fact hair looked great
I do have hypothyroid which is familial, mother , daughters have it,
Check your thyroid levels
That can effect hair loss, dryness etc( even my eye brows and under arms thinned from hypothyroidism )
You may need to be on thyroid medication such as synthyroid if it is off
Twelve years ago when I had my first heart attack and started to walk as an aerobic exercise I would experience very strong calf pain, but continued exercise and a stronger statin coupled with a big weight loss eliminated the problem. Your symptoms, I think should merit additional tests. Keep us informed.
