659608 tn?1318289366 I have had a strange pain in my neck, jaw area for months, and seems to get worse when my chest hurts. My Primary doctor does not think any of this is heart or stroke related, however last week the cardioligist at the stress test, said they were. I am very discouraged and so tired of feeling like this all the time. I have no energy, and am unable to do many of the things I have always done. Any help would be so appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I'm 25 years old, first pregnancy, 14 weeks, previously diagnosed with type 2 diabetes since the age of 18, that was poorly conttolled. I was put on insulin, and a few days after my sugar was conttolled, my eyes went so blurry that I can hardly read a digital clock. I got my eyes checked by a retina specialist and was told by my midwife the next day that I'm at risk of going blind, having a heart attack or having a stroke.
Avatar n tn I was officially diagnosed as having had a stroke a month or so after the attack, but only after my doctor decided it couldn't be anything else. But personally, I'm not so sure it was a stroke or TIA. Basically... I was hanging out with my boyfriend enjoying the day. We got ready to go to his mom's for dinner when we lightly knocked heads {barely hurt}. But I immediately started to feel funny... light headed and fuzzy, hard to describe.
Avatar f tn If you think you are experiencing either a stroke and or a heart attack, you should go right to the ER.
8016255 tn?1396293364 My mother died in middle of a big smile of either heart disease, stroke, kidney failure. My father died of what was told to us of lung cancer, but he had brain cancer, a heart attack, liver cancer, caused by prostate cancer. I'd simply center on keeping the family in comfort unless you think a crime was committed.
429949 tn?1224691579 The trouble is MS and ADEM are strikingly similar both clinically and radiologically. Sometimes only distinguishable by evidence of a second attack or new lesions in space and time.I haven't had either. Adem is a monophasic illness, meaning one time attack. I had lots of blood work, and I know it was to check for lupus, Lyme, vitamin B defic. Don't know what else was checked for in blood test. Had LP, which was negative for all including neg for O banding.
Avatar f tn Frequently a PFO is not diagnosed until a child or adult with this defect has a transient ischemic attack (TIA) - symptoms of a stroke that last for less than 24 hours - or a stroke.
Tbd Hello and thank you for your very basic question. It is very important for everyone to get regular physicals to stay on top of their health and cholesterol screening is often a part of that. One of the trickiest things about monitoring cholesterol is that high cholesterol has no symptoms. You will only know that is high if you have blood drawn and a doctor tells you. But it is essential to keep cholesterol under control to prevent things like heart attack and stroke.
Avatar n tn So, I would like to know what a person should do when a person suspects that somebody is having a heart attack or a stroke in addition to calling the doctor while they reach the hospital. Thank you!
5283093 tn?1379164447 Acute chest pain can be part of a heart attack; other more common signs include: - An ache, burning, pressure, fullness or "squeezing" in the chest that may radiate to the back, jaw, shoulder blades or arm. - Shortness of breath and difficulty breathing, but without feeling any chest pain. - Nausea or dizziness, but without feeling any chest pain - Cold sweats and paleness - Unexplained anxiety, weakness or sudden extreme fatigue.
Avatar n tn There is a margin of error of about 5% plus or minus and in absolute terms there is a variation of stroke volume to help maintain a balance of blood flow of the leftside of the heart with the rightside. The ejection fraction will increase from stroke to stroke based on the dilatation of the LV or decrease when the diameter decreases. The mechanism relates to the Frank/Starling law of physics.
Avatar f tn It was very scary and I wondered if I might be having a heart attack or stroke. The pain subsided after about 3-5 minutes. I regained use of my right side after the incident. My blood pressure after this pain attack was 106/65. Heart rate was 52. It seems to me that those numbers would indicate that it wasn't a stroke or heart attack - especially since I'm fine now. My arm is a little sore, but I'm wondering if I'm just imagining the soreness.
Avatar f tn It may not have been a heart attack, but it could have been an insufficient supply of blood to heart cells with exertion of going up a stairway. Sometimes that can cause heart cell damage so you should see a doctor to have an exam to rule out out anthing serious which appears you have already done. It is difficult to know whether you should wait or have an immediate evaluation...I would call the dotor's office and ask for advice.

15695260 tn?1549593113 Transient Ischemic Attacks which are commonly called mini strokes have been in the news lately with former NFL star Tedy Bruschi being the victim of this health issue in early July of 2019. Bruschi was lucky because he knew the warning signs TIA's or mini strokes and sought medical attention. He experienced arm weakness, face drooping and speech difficulties. https://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=222690 to read his story.

Avatar f tn I am a 37-year-old Caucasian woman who comes from a family with a history of heart disease & diabetes. My maternal grandmother died of a heart attack at 61, my maternal grandfather had 2 non-fatal heart attacks and a mild stroke in his sixties/seventies. I grew up with horrible eating habits: virtually no vegetables, lots of fried food, large quantities. I have done Weight Watchers off and on most of my adult life (since age 20), but have gone years in between being on the program.
Avatar f tn I am a 63 year old woman who has no history of hypertension or high cholesterol. My father died of a stroke at 65 and my mother died at 92 following GI surgery. I had my first pilates class today and about 3/4 through the session, I developed nausea, dizziness, and sweating. The nausea and light- headedness continued for 2 hours after the class. Could I have had or be having a heart attack?
Avatar n tn A deficiency of blood pumped with each stroke can be due to a number of different causes that are heart related. But the discomfort you have can be related to non-cardiac conditions, but your condition should be evaluated to rule out any serious conditions heart or non-heart related should be ruled out. The severe pain you have experienced sounds serious and the underlying cause should be diagnosed.
363110 tn?1340920419 Well as of today they ruled out a heart attack or stroke, and are thinking it was a SEVERE panic attack of some kind. My mom has always had panic attacks but never anything like this. She's staying til they get a dx, and they're doing an MRI. SO hopefully we'll know what's going on by later today.
Avatar n tn m pretty sure you were diagnosed with an anxiety/panic attack. I KNOW they checked your heart for ANY signs of an MI or stroke. (Both extremely unlikely in a 19 year old) Worrying and stress CAN damage the heart, but you are a VERY, VERY long way from that happening! The anxiety you are feeling now is not causing any damage to your heart. It is, however, causing "damage" to the quality of your life.
Avatar f tn If your husband has had a stroke and a heart attack, and is not avoiding the the risks of another stroke or heart attack, the probability is high for another event. He should be at least taking an aspirin to help avoid clots that lead to a stroke or heart attack. A doctor will withdraw from further treatment, if his/her instructions are not followed. Done to avoid any lawsuits. What are the side effects from the medfication? Did your husband consult with the doctor regarding side effects..
