I am on my 2nd week of Topamax. Get ready for some very strange side effects. Your hands and feet and face will tingle and fall asleep. I have no appetite at all. I can go from breakfast to dinner of the next day and not be hungry at all. I have to force myself to eat. I'm forgetting things. I went to Wal Mart and forgot what i went there for. I am on it for migranes so im hoping i can stick it out because my headaches are unbearable. Good luck!

Hello, Topamax can cause itching and erythematous rash in some individuals.Although the main side effects of topamax are slower reflexes, trouble thinking or concentrating, tiredness, poor coordination, and dizziness,yet it has shown itchy skin in some individuals. I was put on an antipsychotic (Latuda) and then Topamax in March to off set the side effects of Latuda.. in April, I noticed a patch of discolored skin on my right foot. It didn't hurt, itch, or bother me in any way other than being discolored. It showed up on my other foot a few weeks later and then spread up to my ankles within a few months. I had to come off of all meds in August of that same year. Discoloration stayed, but never got any worse. It may have even lightened up a bit.

I am also hypothyroid and take 200mcg of synthroid, will there be issues taking these two meds together? I read that one of the side effects of topamax is weight loss. This I wouldnt mind as Ive put on weight due to my hypothyroid. But, the biggest thing would not have these headaches. t try Topamax before but what I know is numbness and tingling are some of Topamax side effects. It become less with time. Are numbness and tingling really bad? or u can handle it? After much research it seems my only options are do nothing or surgery. My Neurologist has had me try topamax in the past but the side effects were horrifying. She now wants me to try Diamox. Any relief with this drug?? I am so afraid of taking any other drugs after the topamax. Side effects or any info would be much appreciated. I will meet with a NS next week to discuss the surgery. About 2 years ago, she was hit in the head with the handle bar of a bicycle, resulting in 12 staples in her head. They did not do a ct on her but said that she didn't suffer from a concussion. What I found out is that topamax depletes the potassium in your body, If you like bananas eat one a day and if you are like me you can get an otc potassium you just need 1-2 a day and I would take them depending on how my hands and feet felt. It is better to just eat a banana unstead of taking supplements but otc potassium is inexpensive.

m feeling much better...not great....but headed in the right direction. No big side effects from the Topamax other than weight loss and some cognitive effects....but I'm kinda already "lost" from the TBI (can't remember things, foggy headed, can't think of the right "word"...lots of times I can't say what I want toi say). So, I don't know if these are side effectys of the Topamax or not. For me...it's been worth it. The pain was so bad.

Topamax did nothing for my pain and I was one of the few people who had one of the more bizarre side effects. I first noticed my hands and feet going numb. With the next increase my face went numb and my tongue felt like a block of dried wood. It can also interfere with taste in some people. I can understand why - everything I put in my mouth tasted like metal including water. On the other hand, I've heard from people who never had a problem with it and it worked very well for them.
