In some children and teens, Strattera increases the risk of suicidal thoughts. A combined analysis of 12 studies of Strattera showed that in children and teens this risk was 0.4% for those taking Strattera compared to none for those taking a sugar pill. A similar analysis in adults treated with Strattera did not reveal an increased risk of suicidal thoughts.
The most common side effects I've heard or seen in others is an increase in water retention, and feelings of dehydration. Creatine draws water from the body into the muscles and can make them appear slightly bloated. This will diminish once you've stopped taking the supplement, as will some of the weight you've gained.
I recommend adopting a better diet for optimal muscle growth. There are plenty of meal plans made for bodybuilders on the net.
and many people i know whos children have seizues they were told first that there child had add and adhd or at least one of them . I if you look at the side effects Concerta can cause Seizures also. Omega 3-96-9 and Vitamin B6 and B12 can help with learning .

In a case like this I would definitely investigate alternative medicine for the treatment of your child. The answer may be acupuncture which has no side effects. Do whatever works.
It is more a question of weighing the possible benefits of the treatment against the possible side effects. The most probable (vs possible) side effect of the stimulant medications is appetite suppression, particularly during the middle of the day. It is one of the side effects of Ritalin perhaps you should ask your Doctor for a new evaluation of the Med, if you ever decide to let him be on Natural Remedies, it has been shown in studies that food supplements have the same efficacy as Ritalin and a Muliple Vitamin-mineral with B Complex and Vit C also Fish oil, would be good, a lot of Parents are trying this now and their children and not getting the bad side effects that Ritalin and the other meds have.

My main concern now is that they (his doctor and mother) have elevated his drug regimine to include 3 drugs that have known interactions with each other, 1 (Concerta) that is known to potentially cause sudden death, and 2 (Clonidine and Zolpidem) that are not recommended for children. Although Strattera does have some potential side effects, I believe it is by far the safest.
Straterra is an anti-depressant type of medication. They use it for adhd and to stabilize behaviors/moods with children and adults. Though its rate of success isn't as high in children as adults it does work with some. Your son is too young for them to classify him as bi-polar, but ODD with the mood swings sounds more like that is the diagnosis you might be looking at, I am not a doctor, but you may want to ask. prozac has been tested on children, my son was taken off stimulants due to anxiety and other side effects, while the prozac seemed to help his moods it causes other issues, like falling asleep at school, restlessness during sleep, hyper eating to where its excessive, excessive behaviour where he was literally was banging himself into a wall, or doing acrobatics on his bed and banging his head.
I had to stop taking the strattera because it gave me the hot flashes.I stopped Strattera in Feb of 07. In November of 2008, I tapered off Prozac. I was ok for about 9 months. Then, in August of 09, I started having anxiety issues.. Not really mental anxiety, but physical anxiety.. My insides felt like they were running on overdrive, kind of like an engine at high idle. So in October of 08, I went back on Prozac (10mg) About 1 week into treatment, I started having chest pain..
It is working for his ADHD but it has loads of side effects (and he cannot take any of the stimulant type meds). We are not sure what to do about the semen leakage. He, understandably, is embarrassed about this and has started to wear diapers to work to protect his clothes. Is this the best option? Anyone has suggestions. He has decided to deal with the side effects bc of the clear benefits to his ADHD so I want to support him, we are just not sure what options are there.

The following is all just my opinion. Everyone reacts to medicine differently:
Concerta is an extended release form of Ritalin. Which is what I took when I was a kid. It is still a stimulant but it is much milder than Adderall. I think more doctors should start patients Concerta because it has fewer side effects than Adderall.
I've been on strattera for two weeks and the only strong side effect I seem to have is that I get really tired or fatigued around 2:00pm.
Will this side effect subside over time? Is there anyway to lessen it?
I've tried other ADD medications however because they are stimulants I tend to get really agitated or even a little paranoid when I'm on them so I am hoping that Strattera works out ok. Are there any other non-stimulant ADD medications?
