Avatar m tn he suffered from undetected side effects for 3 years. the side effects were sneaky and subtle and i did not pick up on the cause. at the age of 7, his physician increased his dosage to 5mg due to his age. after that increase, his side effects became loud and clear. in general he suffered from nightmares, leg pain, irritability, fear, out-of-nowhere vomiting, sadness, anxiety, self-doubt, impulsiveness, dificulty focusing / concentrating and restlessness.
Avatar f tn She now has a feeling of pins and needles and numbness in her hands and feet, calves and thighs and her feet feel very cold. UNDER SINGULAIR SIDE EFFECTS THAT YOU MUST TELL YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT RIGHT AWAY IT SAYS: A FEELING OF PINS AND NEEDLES OR NUMBNESS IN ARMS OR LEGS!!! She called her doctor, told him this was happening and he said "OK". That was it, nothing more!!!
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome.
Avatar n tn I see many folks are experiencing side effects from Singulair. So am I ... I think. I was taking Singulair for just 5 days for and upper respiratory cold and began having tingling and numbness in my extremities. I stopped immediately. My question is, after eliminating all other possible causes (through a number of tests including MRIs, blood work, metals testing) with my doctor, I still have numbness, tingling and burning taking place in my legs and arms for 3 months now.
Avatar f tn I have alot to say about Singulair but none of it is good, unfortunately. My son was on Singulair for 3 yrs. I finally recognized the side effects he was having and discontinued. He suffered from leg pain, stomach pain, irritability, anxiety, quick to tears, easily frustrated and excessively fearful. At the age of 7, his dosage was increased to 5mg. At that point, it became very clear he was suffering side effects. All of the side effects I mentioned above were multipled x 10.
Avatar f tn He had told me the SIngulair will not make me feel funny, cause anxiety or heart palps etc...yet I see there are a lot of negative side effects. Does anyone have any experience on this medicine or just how safe it is?
Avatar n tn She takes these types of medication regularly. Would this medication not be appropriate for her. What about all the side effects...lowered blood rate, difficulty breathing? She has difficulty breathing as it is. Please advise.
Avatar m tn Call your doctor ASAP to make adjustments in your treatment. I have never heard of twitching with Singulair, but it is a side effect of other asthma meds. Be sure to let your doctor know that you have stopped taking Singulair this week and watch for signs of uncontrolled asthma - increased use of inhaler, coughing, sighing... There are a lot of subtle signs that people miss. You do need to be off the med, but be careful. Take care and I am glad you are feeling better.
Avatar n tn I have looked up the side effects of both Singulair and Advair. It seems that both can cause skin issues. I just know that he's been using the Advair all along with no problems but once he started the Singulair the itching returned. Now I will have to say that the past two days have been better. Maybe his body needed to adjust? Dunno.
Avatar f tn Also, remember any medication you take will have a list of side effects a mile long. If you search the side effects of any pill on the internet of course it will scare the you know what out of you. For example, if I looked up the potential side effects of the Motrin I took yesterday, I would probably never take it again. Of course there are risks to anything we put into our body, but your doctor compares the risks vs. benefits of the drug when prescribing it to you.
Avatar f tn t believe that Advair and/or Singulair made me have vision problems for months, along with the other side effects. I am now just using my Albuteral Inhaler and Nebulizer, but only as needed; which is barely. Today is Saturday November 12, 2016 and I feel great and can see just fine. Advair and Singulair just didn't work for me, but may work for others.
Avatar m tn So sorry to hear that. Is he being seen by a pulmonary specialist? Is he taking any sort of preventative medications apart from ventoIin? He obviously needs to have his asthma controlled. I do know that they don't like to over medicate children on steroid puffers. But I do believe they are allowed up to 400ug/day safely before any side effects become apparent, such as slowed growth. Does he have a lot of air born allergies?
Avatar f tn It was then that I researched the side effects of my prescribed drugs and determined that I should stop taking the Singulair. My doctor prescribed a replacement for Singulair, and within a month the numbness went away. Over the past few months I have tried to get back into running. I used to run frequently, always training for a 5k, 10k, or half-marathon, so not sprinting. I have never had a problem with my heart rate or my blood pressure, but now I do.
Avatar n tn I have been taking singulair for a couple of years now and have all of a sudden developed a head tremor.
Avatar f tn html) On the other hand, singulair is a medicine called a leukotriene receptor antagonist and prescribed for the treatment of asthma and allergic rhinitis:The most common side effects include: stomach pain, heartburn, stuffy nose, flu, dizziness, headache or rash. 377493 tn?1356502149 t often have it prescribed in children this young. This of course concerned me a bit. I read up on it and the possible side effects, but found nothing alarming. Anyone else?
Avatar f tn One of the most important things to remember about takin ANY kind of steroid, is to majorly limit the amount of physical activity that you do. It speeds up your heart rate and can cause the shortness of breath, anxiety attacks, and so on. A good Albuterol inhaler can also help. The original Robitussin is the best 'over the counter' cough syrup. Not the DM or any of the others as they have alcohol in them and can harm you more than it will help.
Avatar n tn Long-term use comes with serious side effects both for adults and for children, but more serious for children. If you are concerned ask your doctor for effective non-steroidal substitutes. I got off inhales steroids three years ago after suffering health problems caused by it. I now use natural anti-inflammatories plus nebulized albuterol and an anti-histamine.
Avatar f tn From your message, you appear to have an intolerance to the so-called non-sedating anti-histamines but hopefully will be able to take Singulair; it is a good drug for nasal allergies and also, for a fair number of people, effective treatment for asthma. And it is safe, not a cause of significant liver disease, and not associated with other side effects, deemed serious. To the best of our current knowledge, the long term use of a nasal steroid, as directed, does not pose a problem.
Avatar n tn You could ask yoru doc for free samples of Clarinex since it seems to be the stronger of the bunch for low side effects. But also might not do as much as you want. Some help might be better then no med...?
1154802 tn?1266485720 Prednisone I believe, should be only temporary. There are lots of side effects of taking it, like weight gain, and years of taking it will also weaken your bones badly. I do not think alot of doctors keep patients on this-your steroid inhaler and maybe using Singulair should help.. I would ask about Singulair. You also need to see an actual asthma doctor (pulmonary doctor) if you're not already.
Avatar f tn They certainly do have some very adverse effects, put it into your Search Engine there is a lot of inform ation around about all the Drugs given to children for ADD and AHDD
Avatar n tn I have found others like me online with some saying the side effects are permanent and all of those being children. The only adult who discussed a time frame for the side effects said that they lasted 2 years. I hope and pray that I am in the 2 year category. My pulmonologist says nothing about this even though he prescribed it for me. I am seeing a naturopath and he is the one who referred to the accupuncuturist and led me to the supplements.
Avatar n tn Did you look up side effects of your medication, as well asside effects if you are mixing certin ones, I suffer from an angziety disorder and here are certint hings I cannot eat and drink with my meds as well as other meds that cause complications with it. It's worth doing your reasurch, ever drug has their own offical website where you can get this information from but do soem side reasurch too because veryone reacts differently, good luck.
