These numbers make this a very safe drug. Look here for more; "Pravastatin is generally well tolerated; adverse reactions have usually been mild and transient. Avatar f tn The study found that the patients on simvastatin achieved the target LDL level of less than 130, more than those on pravastatin (65 percent on simvastatin versus 35 percent on pravastatin). The most common side effects of the statins in general are nausea, gas, and upset stomach. Less common are headache, dizziness, rash, sleep disturbances, muscle pain, cramps, or weakness.

Avatar f tn That's kind of a rare side effect with statins so am sorry you are in this boat. From what I've read, when it raises, it is usually because it was on the higher end of normal prior. And the statin DOES help prevent heart attack in a diabetic or prediabetic person making a slight elevation worth it. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/high-blood-cholesterol/in-depth/statin-side-effects/art-20046013 I would talk to your doctor about the best course of action.
Avatar n tn t treat these until they get over 150. Your doctor has weighed the risk of side effects to the benefit of your treatment and made this decision. I would not be too concerned about enzymes that high, I have seen these well over 300 and as I said, doctors don't usually give it a second thought until it spikes over 150.
3539331 tn?1347554407 You may want to wait until you have sorted out all the other issues you are currently dealing with, particularly if you find that you are sensitive to side effects of medications. That way you are not complicating the picture with additional symptoms. Hope this helps!
1806721 tn?1554333407 Welcome and thanks for your question. Statins can cause muscle and joint pain as a side effects. It happens in approx 1 out of every 2,200 users so it's worth mentioning it to your doctor. Keep in mind that muscle and joint pain are the most common medical complaint and a symptom off many conditions so it could very likely not be related to your meds.
Avatar f tn I have decided not to take the Pravastatin - although I will discuss this with my doctor. But my ratio was better with a total of 225 to an HDL of 54 then it is to have a total of 152 to 2. Any thoughts, comments or advice would be welcome. I am pretty laid back, but this is freaking me out!
Avatar m tn ) For the past 20 years, I have avoided NSAIDs, acetaminophens, other pain relievers and muscle relaxants because of their adverse effects to liver and kidneys (personally more significant because my dad had kidney disease). Since cannabidiol inhibits the liver's production of cytochrome P450, I am wondering about switching from simvastatin to pravastatin. That would allow me to try CBD, which appears to have minimal side-effects.
Avatar n tn Cholesterol lowering drugs have a very long list of possible side effects. One side effect I found mentioned breathing issues... "A 53-year-old man who has a history of hypercholesterolemia with elevated triglycerides and LDL has been tried on different statins to bring down his LDL. He developed musculoskeletal pain even though his creatine kinase was normal. While on pravastatin, he developed shortness of breath, which resolved when the medication was stopped.
Avatar m tn Is it safe to take Levothyroxine at the same time as Pravastatin? Also, 2 months ago, I started to take my Levothyroxine at bedtime instead of in the morning as it is more convenient. and after a recent bloodtest my GP has reduced my Thyroxine to 75mcg instead of 100mcg. Could taking it at bedtime be the reason for this reduction? I will obviously ask my GP about this on my next visit to the surgery but would be grateful for any advice.
Avatar f tn Dr wants to put on another statin( saying this has less side effects) and extremly expensive...But I would like to try a Non Statin is there is one on the market, or would there be supplements that are available and have good results? Mainly I would like names of non statins to research and discuss.
Avatar n tn You can google the warnings and side effects of that one. I also take Tricor for my hyperlipidemia. But that is a fenofibrate, not a statin. Have you ever tried the grandfather of statins, Lipitor? Talk to your doctor and get the straight answers.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately blood pressure meds often (maybe always) have side effects. I find even moderate levels of beta blocker give me some fatigue and some shortness of breath. I have other factors at play but will not move off your topic to bring them in. I turn 75 in a short time and that doesn't help my fatigue problem either, I just "ain't" a young go-getter any more.
Avatar n tn Usually the attending physician gives information regarding the possible side effect of the drug while prescribing the medication. It could also be Arthritis due to many causes. Are you the one suffering with or some one else? Hope to hear you back with these details or consult your doctor. Take care.
Avatar n tn Have you noticed any side effects on Clonazepam or Lexapro? I am on 10 mg of Lexapro for a while now and added 1 mg of Clonazepam 2 monts ago. I noticed that I get twitches in my fingers and sometimes my fingers shake a little. Does this familiar to anyone?
Avatar f tn I called the Drs office today and he said these symptoms could not be from the med. I did research possible side effects a couple of days ago and these can indeed be side effects. Now, I'm not sure what to do. I was hoping he would recommend another med to try because on top of the stomach pain I'm having the bladder pain, tiredness and weakness. I guess my question is this. Has anyone had these side effects and if so did they go away?
Avatar f tn Side effects range from serous to mild, with serious side effects running at an incidence rate of under .01% and the serious side effects do get reported as they require treatments. Ed, please don't take this conversation wrong. I understand and respect your opinion, we just have much to learn still.
Avatar f tn I have to assume you are on statins (cholesterol lowering medication). Statin drugs are often associated with side-effects including nausea, headaches, dizziness, sleep disturbances, sexual dysfunction, fatigue, shortness of breath, memory loss, liver problems, muscle weakness, muscle pain, peripheral neuropathy and cardiomyopathy due to a depletion of Coenzyme Q10. If you aren't taking CoQ10, start immediately.
572651 tn?1530999357 Dizziness is a fairly common adverse reaction listed for many medications including Furosemide, Diovan, Pravastatin, and Carvediolol. So it seems he is experiencing known side effects for these drugs, but not because they are interacting with each other.
Avatar n tn Since your panic attacks are happening less, are the headaches numerous and a reason that you cannot take the medication anymore? Or are some of the side effects okay with you now that your anxiety is much better? What does your prescribing doctor say about this? Headaches can also be caused by an endless number of factors in my opinon. Are you getting enough sleep? Are you still under a lot of stress? The point is, that the headaches may not even be related to the medication itself.
