After seeing my doctor lately, she has decided to take me off my Cymbalta. I've been on it for 3 years with no change in my depression. What I'm wondering about are the withdrawals that I think I've been experiencing. The doctor also has put me on Paxil while weaning me off the Cymbalta. The symptoms I've had are mostly being very shaky; so much so that it's hard to hold a spoon because I'm shaking that badly. Is this normal and will it go away?

I had nausea, headache, palpitations, I couldn't drive my head was spinning. Ugly feeling I changed my mood very drastically and started to yell at my 10 year/old. My husband had to come back from work and go to the pharmacy and pick up the med. I took it and withing 2 hrs I'm fine again.

I was recently on paxil for anxiety until I realized all of the side effects that I was getting including gaining weight. I talked to my doctor and he said I could wean myself off. I was taking 20 mg. He said 10 mg for 2 weeks and then 5mg for 2 weeks, after start wellbutrin. However, I didn't make it that far. Just by one week of going Down to 10 mg I was vomiting, running to the bathroom. Nervousness, dizzy, brain zap and a fuzzy feeling in my head, sweating, VERY emotional.
The reason for the change was because of severe side effects. Dizziness, tremors, jaw pain, loud ringing in ears, nausea were the main issues. Now being off the med for 13 days, and have been off of work since Feb. 3rd, I continue to have problems. I cannot drive or even ride in a vehicle without getting severe dizziness. This also happens when watching TV when fast movements cross the screen.
I also take Paxil for a sleep disorder (depression-related insomnia) and have for 11+ years. It works wonderously, but I gained 30+ lbs when I started the medication and have tried for years to lose it, unsuccessfully. I will lose some weight - and believe me, it takes an enormous amount of exercise and effort - but inevitably gain it back because Paxil makes my appetite so strong.
I had no problem with the Zoloft for 14 years and I am back on it now and have recovered from all of the phyciatric effects of this medication change. The Paxil on the other hand in my opinion is a dangerous drug. If you send for the side effect list from the drug company itself and not the pharmacy one because it doesn't list them all, then you will see all the horible side effects that this drug can cause. I am living proof that it does cause these things.
I tried Paxil also for panic attacks and had the same problem. Effexor was even worse. Extreme nausea, and my anxiety was inreased. Could not sleep, and horrible dreams when I did. I could only tolerate it for a few days before I begged for something else. I needlessly suffered (in my opinion) for months before I asked (begged) for a tricyclic amine, in my case, Pamelor (Nortriptyline).
Pamelor was/is great. I don't understand the medical community (or much of it).
Doc took me off xanax couple of days ago and i am xanax free for the last 5 days, I want to know how long does the it take to get rid of side effects of xanax from my body. i was taking 0.5mg xanax for three weeks. Also, my psychiatrist diagnosed me with OCD, whats the difference between OCD with fear of harming onself and other with suicidal dieation?
This was a long process, as I got all the typical side effects. The last couple of times that I had sex, I had a MAJOR premature ejaculation problem. I've never had this in my life. I did some searching, and apparently Paxil is also prescribed for premature ejaculation.
I'm beginning to think that just by getting off the medicine, I "swung the other way", and I'm not sure what to do now. Get back on the Paxil?

What my psychiatrist did in the beginning because of the side effects was to have me divide the dose into two, once in the morning, once at dinner time, and that helped. I was also on clonazepam, and the dose was halved -- fortunately I didn't suffer a withdrawal, which could have happened. It never stopped giving me obsessive thoughts or sedation, but I was very active and a meditator, so I got used to it.
I did have a lot of side effects in the beginning week. This was a different feeling though. I felt out of control. I felt like passing out and that I couldn't stand up. I was really tired too. My doc immediately prescribed me 20mg of Paroxetine and 10mg of Buspirone. He wanted to up my dosage to 25mg of Paroxetine and 15mg of Buspirone. I didn't want this however because I know there are some withdrawal problems with paxil.
