Avatar f tn with a headache on back right side of head plus shoulder pain. I have fibromyalgia so assumed it was from that. By 4 a.m when I took my dog out I decided to check bp. It was 190/106 heartrate 83. I take my meds at 5:30 a.m. so laid back down and retook bp before I took meds. It was 140/85. I assumed the elevation had been from the pain so took meds and went to sleep. Took bp when I got up at 9:30 and was 174/97. I called my electrophysiologist.

Avatar m tn Hi, if the blockage in the artery has resolved, then the goal has been accomplished. The symptoms you experience could be side effects of the medications, but please check to see if these are due to vitamin deficiencies. Take a balanced diet rich in plenty of fruits and vegetables. Regards.
Avatar m tn Dude, it means you have to give up drinking alcohol. If you want to feel more or less normal and treat yourself sometimes , so you can try medical cannabis. It's better than most of prescribed drugs cause there are fewer tangible side effects. Here's link, read about it http://www.ncm.
Avatar n tn I don't know anything about Atenolol and I haven't looked it up, but if possible side-effects listed include weight gain, I think it worth your time to see what you doctor can recommend as a good change (lower dose, or alternative medication). At 6' I think you should target getting more than 20 pounds off, I'd think you'll feel better and have less diabetes risk if you get down to about 200.
Avatar n tn Hi ! I am 21 years old male. I was diagnosed with "Marfan's Syndrome. My eyesight is constantly getting weaker day by day.I have no other defect , other than "Myopia". I have(-6.0) power of both eyes. My vision is quite hazy or blurred. I want to know that what effect "Marfan Syndrome" has on my eyes? Sould i opt for "Lasik" surgery or any other Treatment? Will this have any side effects due to syndrome? I presently use spectacles .
Avatar f tn If you are taking the meloxicam to address the side effects of this drug then it would probably be rational to discuss stopping both with your doctor. Thyroxine is for hypothyroid. It is very important to treat low thyroid adequately. If thyroid is not well treated it can make diabetes management harder and can also result in higher cholesterol levels. So, look at what each drug is for. Then determine if each one is really needed. I don't know you or your medical history....
Avatar n tn I am concerned about my heart rate going to low and the huge list of side effects I read about them. The palpitations drive me nuts and scare me to no end. They can tell me I'm fine, and it's hard to take I'll just learn to "live with these". Also, they explained that dehydration and hormonal changes can make PVCs more often/stronger. Is this true? Any related information that can help me make an informed decision with my doctor would be very helpful. Thanks!
Avatar m tn Your blood pressure, urea and creatinine levels are within the normal range. Also, you are on telmisartan, belongs to the class of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors which may decrease the rate of decline in kidney function. However, levels of microalbuminuria above 30 are indicative of early kidney disease. Am not clear about the normal ranges specified by your lab. So, please discuss the possibilities with your doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Your creatinine is still high because you likely have chronic kidney disease from the hypertension. The Telmisartan-HCTZ that was given will not make your creatinine low, it is to treat your hypertension and prevent further damage to your kidneys. It is also possible you have some protein in your urine which the Telmisartan helps to reduce. Also, Telmisartan can cause a slight increase in your creatinine but it is usually not a very significant increase.

21064 tn?1309308733 I am trying to compile a list of common heart medications for one of the Health Pages. So many times someone asks for suggestions, about side effects, etc. It would be great to have a place closeby where we could provide a hyperlink to more information on medications common for heart patients. Will you please help me by letting me know what medication(s) you are currently taking, or what medication(s) you would like to know more about?
Avatar f tn I have been taking Atenolol 25 mg twice daily and Micardis 20 mg once daily. It's my fertile time. We had a mishap with a condom last night and I am concerned that I could become pregnant. Is the medication a concern, or should I contact my doctor?
Avatar m tn It can lower your blood pressure and may increase some of the side effects of Micardis. Do not use potassium supplements or salt substitutes while you are taking Micardis, unless your doctor has told you to. You are very young and have the rest of your life to enjoy a drink with friends. Getting drunk is not good for your heart or indeed for the rest of your body. This is an important decision you need to make right now. Look after your body for now or suffer more serious consequences.
Avatar m tn amlodipine, Victrelis (boceprevir) Boceprevir may increase the blood levels and effects of amLODIPine. This can increase the risk of serious side effects such as irregular heart rhythm, fluid retention, swelling, heart failure, and excessively low blood pressure. You may need a dose adjustment or more frequent monitoring by your doctor to safely use both medications.
646318 tn?1261181494 Somehow, it makes sense to me that how it dilates the arteries and slows down the heart would be a perfect match with the side effects of tx. My doc loves ace inhibitors but I think she may be missing something. Copyman, who prescribed your betablocker, your MD or your hepatologist? BB, you've been prescribed a beta-blocker also, so please let us know if you respond to it.

But it's the light headedness that sends me nutty........ I take my readings like 9 times a day obssesively.
404682 tn?1324579818 You may be accustomed to a higher blood rate so when the meds cause your BP to drop it may take time for your body to get used to the lower levels which will make you lightheaded. It takes time for your bidy to get used to the effects of a lower than expected BP. You should work with your doctor to find a drug that works for you.
Avatar m tn I had been on these meds for over four years and they just stopped working and the side effects were awful.. My doctors weaned me off very slowly and I went of of the meds for about two months. I was then restarted at only 10 mg of oxycontin twice a day and it provided relief again. This had since been upped to 20 mg. which helps quite a bit. With opiates we develop tolerance eventually and have to go off, and then restart.
Avatar n tn In my opinion, this is a side effect of one of her bp medications. If I were to guess which it would be the Losacar. The Losacar in the angiotensin antagonists category of bp medications and they often cause this side effect.
