I take metformin for diabetes and in 2 months of taken it i have lost 30 pounds. Which was a great thing. But i also have cut back on what i eat. And i no longer am addicted to Dr.Peppers..lol..So weather it's the meds or my cuting back i'm not sure, but i have lost the wieght.
My doctor thought it was enviormental (exercise, stress...etc) as I just started to go do body pump right around that time. Every cycle before that was 30-31 days to the day!! So we will see.....
Another thing, if you start getting any side effects, get on top of them right away. They snowball. If you get side effects, post and we can tell you what remedies we uded for them. Good luck!
Mike, thanks for that study, and I know there's a up and a down side to all of this....I was against metformin for the whole of last year. Yet in light of these recent numbers, I think one has to at least give pause. Even yesterday when Willing on Cocksparrows 3x thread, whose opinions I pay great attention to sited some objetions, I had to give pause because it seemed too knee jerk to me...no regard for the stats was even acknowledged.
It scares the heck out of me sometimes because it comes on so quick that there is a violent jerk reaction followed by cries of pain and agony. The location of these painfull electric shocks is in the back of the knee about an inch or two below where the knee bends. We've already checked on it being a Bakers Cyst causing the problem so I don't think it's that.
lots and lots of luck to udbe2! I hope you get a BFP I'm also close to the end of my TWW. I'm supposed to test This Saturday but if i have enough of strength i might wait for Sunday. That's if AF doens't make it first. I sure hope not. I actually tested a little earlier than i was supposed to. I tested on 6 days past my iui and got a negative. Which is fine because i knew with the trigger shot it could have been a false. Atleast i hope so. Good luck!
[52] Metformin has also been reported to decrease the blood levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone in people with hypothyroidism,[53] and, in men, testosterone.[54][55] The clinical significance of these changes is still unknown.

Contrary to all expectations, not only did we find no significant insulin resistance in the liver of the patients in the study, half of them suffered from a strain of Hepatitis C that causes about three times the normal level of fat to accumulate in the liver," said study author Professor Don Chisholm. "The fifteen people with very high levels of fat in the liver had the same degree of insulin resistance as the fourteen that didn't have fatty livers.

I'm 45 and have had spells of this going on for about 10 years. In both hands, usually the palm-side of the fingers, but occasionally in the palm. I know when it's going to happen - can feel pressure, then it pops and you see blood under the skin and then it itches like crazy. Sometimes it's a hard blue marble under the skin. I have 3 that are permanently there (two in the same finger). It's almost never caused by anything - just happens. Occasionally it's when I grip something.

My 2 best friends are pg again and due in Feb and my sis-n-law is due in December. I know I am next and in the name of Jesus it is this month! I will def keep you in my prayers and you do the same for me...Where two or more agree on a thing, it shall be established! Also, my friend gave me this verse to believe on...Luke 1:45 Blessed is she who believes that what the Lord has told her will be accomplished....and Exodus 23:26 No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land...!!!!!!!!!!
they put me on all sorts of hormone medication, but that made me gain weight and had all sorts of other side effects. i eventually stopped taking the medication and started eating 1 Tbsp of unrefined, virgin coconut oil every day (you get it at the health food store - $10 for a peanut butter-sized jar). the coconut oil (when virgin/unrefined) is a natural hormone regulator that scientists are just starting to study.
He has had a few tests done, and the doctor says he is fine, although Im not so sure and want to look in to some medicine for him. THEN, I did have an IUD put in July of 06 and removed it in Jan 09. So we have been TTC for a year now. Before I had the IUD I had the depo shot which made my period go away. I did not have a period from 2004 to 2009 I believe... My doctor put me on Metformin right before my husband left, so we only got to try it for one cycle. It was HORRIBLE.

My side effects were hot flashes, moodiness, breast tenderness, cramping, fatigue, nausea, and extreme hunger which lead to weight gain and I'm still feeling those side effects. Since so many of those side effects are symptoms of pregnancy it was very upsetting to find out I didn't ovulate and I'm not pregnant. Hoping for better results next cycle...

At present, Percocet 2 350 mg tabs every 6 hours. This was causing side effects, Bad headaches in the morning, plus chills like the flu. Otherwise I might have been able to stand it. The pain was there, just lessened it. Tonight, I tried a Banana and glass of Orange Juice like the Ultra Sound Radiologist told me Pregnant women use when experiencing leg cramps and no percocet tonight and just 2 tylenol and if helps a lot. If it is a Parathyroid needing to be removed.
Although the endocrine treatments may be a route you want to take, I wanted to warn you of a few side effects. The glucophage makes you VERY sick at your stomach when you start taking it. I don't know how many times I threw up the first few weeks. (make sure you eat when taking the pills) But it does pass. However, I talked to some diabetic people who say it gave them diarrhea - and now I'm seeing that part of it. But what I really want to warn you about is the Spironolactone.
Well, I just found some more stuff online and I'm concerned. I just read there was a lawsuit several years ago because of the side effects. Do you know that it is not an FDA approved fertility drug? There's even a website called the lupron victims network. I'll leave it in your hands to do any research if you feel it appropriate. Sorry to be a debbie downer but I'd want to know.
I have had the warm sensation in the back/side of my upper right thigh for about 5 days now. It lasts for about 3/4 sec's then goes away. The first day it happened twice and now it happens frequently throughout the day (8-12 times). I do have health insurance and plan to make an appointment tomorrow. I will let you know the outcome of my visit.

I had never missed a period in my life until October 14. I kept having symptoms of pregnancy and went back to the doctor at 16 weeks. She gave me an ultrasound and there he was! I just took the HPT yesterday for fun to see if it would show positive. It was still negative and I'm 24 weeks. My oldest child is 28 and I have a 24 year old daughter that is pregnant with me!
I even quitted my job solely to try to cut down stress in me life in the hope of conceiving. And it is not even working! Am I abnormal or what??? @ amy_1985: I'm sorry to hear about AF wrecking your chance now. This is absolutely heart breaking. I think it is a good idea not to take clomid. I've read that it decreases your CM, not to mention the other side effects it will cause. So when is your next tww? Maybe we can spur each other on again then!
I've rubbed in on the side of brick, the carpet, the side of my front patio and anything else I could find. I talked to my Internal Med doctor who said she beleived it was a form of neuropathy from my diabetes. I talked to my endocronologist (diabetes dr.) who said he didn't think so, but prescribed me nerve pain meds anyway. I talked to my dermatologist who wanted me to start talking antihistamines (sorry for spelling) as opposed to the nerve meds.
