Avatar f tn Why are you on metformin? Do you have pcos? I was on metformin too and don't remember having any side effects. I guess once it adjusts to your body you might feel better. Also, there are good chances of getting pregnant while taking clomid with metformin.

Avatar n tn [49] Metformin is recommended to be temporarily discontinued before any radiographic study involving iodinated contrast agents, (such as a contrast-enhanced CT scan or angiogram), as the contrast dye may temporarily impair kidney function, indirectly leading to lactic acidosis by causing retention of metformin in the body.[50][51] Metformin can be resumed after two days, assuming kidney function is normal.
Avatar f tn Only side affects I suffered from were stomach upsets and diareaha in the first 2 weeks of starting it. I've been on it for about 2 years now, and the side affects are all gone. Generally speaking, Metformin can take 3-12 months to kick in and actually start working.
Avatar f tn Hm, so you are diagnosed as PCOS or they just started the metformin for the reason of the adrenal gland issue? I'm trying to understand. LOL I know things that affect any part of our hormonal system will result in some mood changes. Are you taking the metformin as they intended? Have they also considered clomid? You've been working with a fertility doctor--- and done all the testing and this is the only issue they see with regards to getting pregnant?
Avatar n tn My doubt is that by defecating in the stools, is the whole tablet of metformin, even after 12 hours after it was taken. While disarmament is not the tablet in the stomach, produces its effect on my body? Thanks for your help.
Avatar n tn I am not a physician, but the mom of a type one diabetic on the pump. I have not heard of this type of side effect from Lantus. I would suggest you talk to your endocrinologist and tell him, you problem, he might be able to switch you r insulin type or see there are other things causing you to have dry eyes. Several types of medications can cause that condition. Hope this helps. Pleas let us know how it goes.
Girl Extended periods of high blood sugar are very detrimental to health. For the bad breath, it could be side effect of medication or it could be a side effect of your high blood sugar. Recommend you see your dentist also for assessment of this and proper treatment. Please follow up aggressively with your drs to get your blood sugars properly controlled. Do not accept your currently high numbers as normal.

Avatar f tn Hi I am 17 and I am on metformin. The side effects of the Metformin isn't bad. You do have to go to the restroom alot but thats how you can loose waight. If you get pregnant it wont hurt the baby but metformin can go threw the milk well thats what I read. You would need to talk to your doctor if you want to breast feed. What that pill does is that it reduces the surgures on the foods you eat. Just start slow. Start with 1 for a pill for a week and then 2 ang just go on.
415867 tn?1323365503 I have taken it back when I was 16 (now 24), and I stopped because of the side effects. Since May, I really have had any side effects. I start with 500mg twice and day, now I am on 1500mg daily. I too have PCOS. As far as OPK, I have done the OPK for about 4 months. There are several times were I would get + opk. but Af would not come 16 or even 28 days later. On the box witht he strips they do say that some women with PCOS or taking Ferility Pill may have a false positive.
783159 tn?1236291818 I am now on amaryl and get no side effects from it. But a lot of people are on metformin. Since it makes your stomach loose, you lose weight from it. And it controls the sugar level. Why don't they list it?
Teacher NO side-effects from Metformin - Lucky you!
1888358 tn?1320969676 It is advised to take Metformin with food, usually in the middle or end of meal. Metformin ER version releases the drug more slowly and this usually eliminates the gastrointestinal problems. Ask your doctor if you could try a weeks supply. Discuss with your doctor an alternative medication if Metformin ER gastro problems continue. Not everyone can tolerate the same medication, even in different forms. I can't move/lift my lil toe/s unless I move/lift the others.
Avatar f tn Metformim is a medication used to control or prevent the onset of diabetes and/or regulate blood sugar and this is how it helps with these potential side effects of Zyprexa but you could discuss the specifics with your psychiatrist. What you describe are potential side effects of concern from Metformim so you should inform your psychiatrist.
Avatar f tn I heard that if Metformin causes side effects that I should get extended release Metformin and I should not have any of the side effects; stomach problems etc.... Has anyone else heard this?
Avatar f tn Can you tell me about its side effects? Recently I went for a checkup and my doctor gave me Metformin for weight loss (It suddently went up to 99 kg though I was at 85 before and was following a strict diet plan). I don't have diabetes and I haven't been diagnosed with PCOS, and I think Metformin is generally used for these two issues. So I'm concened whether I should really be Metformin. Can it mess up my insulin system?
475740 tn?1208262865 I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2005. I really want to lose weight and I know I gotta take the Metformin but it makes me very nauseous. The diarrhea I can handle but not the nausea, so I haven't been taking it. I see an endocrinologist Wednesday. I was wondering if there's an alternative to Metformin/Glucophage without the nausea side effects. If there's not how long does it take until you get used to the side effects?
