I have never, persoanlly, taken citalopram, but there are plenty of folks here who have and hopefully they will respond with their experiences with this med. Most of us with an anxiety/panic disorder are "wary" of side effects. I was just seeing if anyone else has experienced side effects from taking these kinds of Medication. My side effects are coughing very bad especially at night time. Struggling to go to the toilet when passing urine, like the feeling you need to go again even after you have been. Really bad bloating and diarrhea but only go once a week. Plus my breasts are very sore. No im not pregnant....When i first started on them i was on 20mg and struggled eatting the Doctor put me to 30mg.

Hi....I take this for general anxiety with excellent results. You don't have all the side effects with this type of medication compared to an antidepressant. I think you will find that you're going to feel much better! Take care.

Does adderall or ritalin cause a whole heck of a lot of sexual side effects for a male... I dont want anything to change.. I mean I dont want my penis to get smaller or my sexual drive to change... if anything i wanna amp it up that would be ok but i dont want it to go down...

and, in my experience, they actually increased my anxiety level a little in the beginning but I had no major problems with it; I have more side effects from taking over the counter anti-histamines. My boyfriend started taking Citalopram, 20mg/daily, back in June of 08. His Dr. recommended that he take something for depression since he had recently quit drinking. Hey I'm 20 and have been on citalopram for a year and a half, I have decided to come off it because of the fatigue it caused which is not good for student life generally, also the loss of interest in sex is not great either. I think I do need to be on antidepressants at the moment. But citalopram wasn't for me. I realise all antidepressants have side effects but I was wondering if any missed out the 2 I mentioned above.

s now been 4 weeks since I took my last citalopram and nothing has changed. How long can the side effects from the citalopram affect the Wellbutrin?

I am half way on 24 weeks tx (type B 2) Some weeks all horrible side effects come out, other weeks- full of energy. Had bad-ish sx earlier, but then it is hard to say if it is over- another 3 month to go. Hair falls out- had to cut it short- which in my case always suit me better anyway, so everyone loves it.Only good news- docs said I am UMD since 4 weeks on tx! So when I am down, I look at it as temporary thing, even when it is very hard.

I am a 34 year old female that has Hashimotos Disease. I have been on Levothyroxine for the past 5 years or so, and recently my new doctor increased my dosage from 88mcg to 100mcg, due to my blood work results. I also take Citalopram 30mg for anxiety, and Xanax as needed (rarely). I have been taking the new dosage (100mcg) for about 3- 4 weeks now.

I have never taken the med, but have taken Klonopin. I'm terrified of taking any med, even aspirin's. But each individuals body chemistry is different and the only way to know, how you will react to a med is take it, some have great experiences, while others not so good, share the pro's and con's with your doctor. If this med does not work out for you, then you can try others, till you find the right medication to treat your symptoms.

I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!

Hi, Today is my 4th day now and im on 20mg. I think the side effects have kicked in to as I suffered my worst panic attack ever last night. My whole body felt as it if was going hot inside. Was horrible. I was actually afraid to take my tablet today, but I did.

Citalopram is very good for anxiety and carries far fewer side effects than some of the other anti-d's but each person reacts differently to it, like any drug, so we can't say for sure how your body will respond, you may not have a single side effect from it and it may work well for you.
