Remember many people get through their treatment without suffering any major side-effects and hopefully this will be the case with you. So I would relax and forget it. 671285 tn?1292660161 In between bouts of happiness and feel-good moments were fits of uncontrollable crying and feelings of nervousness in the pit of my stomach (feelings of a dropping sensation like when you are riding on a roller coaster). I felt uncomfortable with this kind of depression so I decided that I would need further assistance to aid in dealing with it because I could no longer do it on my own.

Avatar n tn Do you think it wise bringing a baby/ child into that environment? It's a hard call and one only you (?and your husband, partner, so) can make in consultation with your own doctor. I knew someone in a similar situation and she tried to harm her fetus while pregnant and later her daughter attempted suicide (due to the environment the mother raised her in). Are you in therapy to help address the anxiety?
769503 tn?1238496321 I have never, persoanlly, taken citalopram, but there are plenty of folks here who have and hopefully they will respond with their experiences with this med. Most of us with an anxiety/panic disorder are "wary" of side effects. But bear in mind that we are all different and your son may not experience any, or if he does, he may find that they are bearable.
Avatar m tn 1 mixture of (S)-Citalopram and (R)-Citalopram]; Escitalopram [(S)-Citalopram) is a pure enantiomer. The dosages for Escitalopram are typically 1/2 of those for Citalopram, and there are fewer side effects, suggesting that most side effects come from the (R)-enantiomer.'' Basically escitalopram is the new citalopram with less side-effects and requires only half the dosage and I think it is the reason for it's cheaper price. -http://en.wikipedia.

Avatar m tn Hi....I take this for general anxiety with excellent results. You don't have all the side effects with this type of medication compared to an antidepressant. I think you will find that you're going to feel much better! Take care.

581954 tn?1223391496 and, in my experience, they actually increased my anxiety level a little in the beginning but I had no major problems with it; I have more side effects from taking over the counter anti-histamines. Many people are initially scared to take SSRIs because of the horror stories they hear about them. But remember that for every bad story you hear there are thousands of positive stories.
Avatar f tn My boyfriend started taking Citalopram, 20mg/daily, back in June of 08. His Dr. recommended that he take something for depression since he had recently quit drinking. He had a few side effects for the first couple of weeks but other then that, he was doing great. About 2 months ago he started to get really strange. He moved out of our apartment and in with a friend of his who drinks and does drugs, for no reason at all. It really upset me and he just didn't care.
Avatar m tn It's really hard to say. All meds come with possible side effects. Some of us get alot, some, or none. I think many of us have been through upset stomachs, headaches and feeling a little strange the first few days. There should be a list of possible side effects that comes with your meds.
Avatar f tn Hey I'm 20 and have been on citalopram for a year and a half, I have decided to come off it because of the fatigue it caused which is not good for student life generally, also the loss of interest in sex is not great either. I think I do need to be on antidepressants at the moment. But citalopram wasn't for me. I realise all antidepressants have side effects but I was wondering if any missed out the 2 I mentioned above.
Avatar n tn t worry about it. Most things that are listed under the side effects of any given drug are very rare.
Avatar f tn I want to keep going and get back to my normal, but the side effects are scary. I have two small kids to take care of and am afraid of the side effects getting even more in the way of taking care of them. Please, any stories to help me on my way would be greatly appreciated! Thanks you so much!
Avatar f tn s now been 4 weeks since I took my last citalopram and nothing has changed. How long can the side effects from the citalopram affect the Wellbutrin?
Avatar f tn I am half way on 24 weeks tx (type B 2) Some weeks all horrible side effects come out, other weeks- full of energy. Had bad-ish sx earlier, but then it is hard to say if it is over- another 3 month to go. Hair falls out- had to cut it short- which in my case always suit me better anyway, so everyone loves it.Only good news- docs said I am UMD since 4 weeks on tx! So when I am down, I look at it as temporary thing, even when it is very hard.
Avatar f tn I am a 34 year old female that has Hashimotos Disease. I have been on Levothyroxine for the past 5 years or so, and recently my new doctor increased my dosage from 88mcg to 100mcg, due to my blood work results. I also take Citalopram 30mg for anxiety, and Xanax as needed (rarely). I have been taking the new dosage (100mcg) for about 3- 4 weeks now.
732401 tn?1231613448 I have never taken the med, but have taken Klonopin. I'm terrified of taking any med, even aspirin's. But each individuals body chemistry is different and the only way to know, how you will react to a med is take it, some have great experiences, while others not so good, share the pro's and con's with your doctor. If this med does not work out for you, then you can try others, till you find the right medication to treat your symptoms.
Avatar f tn I am now taking half a pill of Citalopram in order to wean myself off of it. My doctor then prescribed me Bupropion HCL (take twice a day). He says that should help with weight loss. Has anyone had good experiences with Bupropion? Did you gain weight on Citalopram? Thanks!!!
Avatar m tn Hi, Today is my 4th day now and im on 20mg. I think the side effects have kicked in to as I suffered my worst panic attack ever last night. My whole body felt as it if was going hot inside. Was horrible. I was actually afraid to take my tablet today, but I did.
1352638 tn?1277025232 Citalopram is very good for anxiety and carries far fewer side effects than some of the other anti-d's but each person reacts differently to it, like any drug, so we can't say for sure how your body will respond, you may not have a single side effect from it and it may work well for you.
