Avatar f tn For sure. Cats are at least 10 times smaller than a SMALL adult human female. What is given to us is too much for such a small animal. For example: The amount of Zyrtec I was told to give to Akira is only 1/4 of the adult human dosage. This is much smaller than the children's dosage, which is 1/2 of the adult human dosage. I would never ever give medications to Akira without her first seeing her doctor. I do know that no one should ever give Tylenol to their pets.
Avatar n tn Some of the side effects reported vary due to different breeds & several other factors. We have 1 Rottweiler mix male & 2 rescued dogs (German Rottweiler female & American Rottweiler female). German Rotty was approx 2 y/o when rescued. She had her first seizure approx 2 months ago. Scared me to death. A month later she had another so I knew some of the signs before hand. My mixed male & American Rotty female were going crazy when the seizures occurred.
Avatar f tn No, being lethargic is normal after taking suboxone. It's one of the side effects. Suboxone which is 8mg buprenorphine and 2mg naloxone. It is also prescribed to dogs for pain by a vet, so he/she should be fine, but the thing is suboxone does slow down respitory rate, so keep an eye on your dogs breathing.
Avatar m tn s just about given him his life back. My question is it a narcotic, therefore addictive. Does it have the nasty side effects of oxy or other pain meds. This site has been a great resource and hope someone can tell me what this stuff is like? Appreciate any info you can give me about this med, thanks in advance!!
Avatar m tn This is a very complicated question, and your doctor's actions are a bit confusing. buprenorphine has a 'ceiling' to the effects it creates, and that ceiling has effects about equal to the effects of taking oxycodone 60 mg. If you give buprenorphine to a person who is taking nigh doses of oxycodone, you usually cause withdrawal. I am surprised that you were able to add a buprenorphine patch, while taking oxycodone, without getting withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn I kind of doubt it's the cerenia causing the drooling. It's more likely the stress that's causing it - a normal reaction in dogs to any kind of stress. While the cerenia can help with nausea and vomiting from motion sickness, it can't help with the mental end of it. Frequent breaks - like every 30 or 45 minutes on a long trip - can also help set the mental reset button. The good news is that most dogs who experience motion sickness as pups tend to outgrow it with practice.
Avatar f tn I understand how frustrated you are being in pain all the time. I'm on Fentanyl 50mcg patches they help but like you, when my leg pain begins it doesn't completely help and I have to take muscle relaxers and percocet to manage the pain. I began taking the new Fibromyalgia medicine Savella last night. I'm hoping that it will help. I'm terrified of all the side effects but I have to try it for the sake of the pain.
Avatar f tn My German Shepherd was recently prescribed incurin and it has caused her not to eat and a little bit aggressive and scared... She also was running around with her hackles up and starting fights with my other dogs...She only had 3 or 4 days of it and then I took her off of it this last Sunday was her last dose...She still is not wanting to eat and not 100% back to herself? How long do the side effects last...It was taking me an hour and a half to get her to eat 2 cups of food...
306455 tn?1288862071 J, A lot of longer term Sub users have reported (to each other here on the forum) some side effects like numbness in the arms, pain in elbows and hands falling asleep. Have you heard of these side effects and are there others that we don't here about often but are definitely related to long term Sub use? My 2 sisters and myself are all on Sub and have been for over a year. We have all developed this problem as have others I've talked with. Any idea what causes this?
1476285 tn?1287337784 The interaction appears to be dependent, in part, on the route of administration of buprenorphine. When administered transdermally, buprenorphine peak plasma concentration (Cmax) and systemic exposure (AUC) were not significantly affected by ketoconazole, a potent CYP450 3A4 inhibitor.
Avatar f tn The whites of the eyes turn yellow, as do the insides of the ears and the relatively hairless part of the belly between the hind legs. In these areas where the hair is either extremely thin or almost nonexistent it is much easier to see the skin, and therefore easier to tell whether or not the skin has that tell-tale yellowish color. Maybe you could try putting a Buster Cube or other "educational" toy in with her.

Avatar n tn Suboxone contains a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is an opioid medication. Buprenorphine is similar to other opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin however, it produces less euphoric ("high") effects and therefore may be easier to stop taking. Naloxone blocks the effects of opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin.
Avatar m tn lately in the evening, i get flush face, startled real easy by ordinary sounds. sour taste in mouth, nervous. flu like symptoms (which is one side effect of the subs, according to packet). im on the net all the time checking EVERY symptom i feel.
Avatar f tn You really have to speak to your psychiatrist and doctor directly about medication interactions especially with anything that is as strong a medication as Suboxone. This is what I could find as per the interaction between Suboxone and Trileptal but all this should be discussed with your psychiatrist who could (and should be doing) a search on the physician's only database all doctors have access to.
378273 tn?1262097621 Afibs and sometimes weeks go by without an episode; but most of the time I get it about once a week; usually in the middle of the night. One time, one of my dogs woke me by bumping his nose to mine - I was having a run of really slow beats and I guess it scared him. Usually I have tachs though - hard to say which is more uncomfortable. Spicy foods brings it on as does stress, but not at the time of the stressful event; a few days later!
2046312 tn?1360379600 Coadministration with inhibitors of CYP450 3A4 may increase the plasma concentrations and pharmacologic effects of buprenorphine, which is partially metabolized (approximately 30%) by the isoenzyme. The interaction appears to be dependent, in part, on the route of administration of buprenorphine. When administered transdermally, buprenorphine peak plasma concentration (Cmax) and systemic exposure (AUC) were not significantly affected by ketoconazole, a potent CYP450 3A4 inhibitor.
1053234 tn?1263457730 Hi Read the comments to the chart and when a MD says this, " by Jeffrey T Junig, MD PhD, Dec 25, 2008 11:34PM No-- incorrect. Sorry, but this is an example of the misinformation about buprenorphine that is so common in the internet. Buprenorphine and Suboxone have a 'ceiling effect' at about 2 mg; you cannot extrapolate in a straight line, because it does NOT have linear pharmacodynamics. There are real issues to discuss, but only when the facts are known.
Avatar f tn As for safety, Buprenorphine was a favorite for control of pain during labor until the epidural became more commonly used; I have a number of papers from studies of the use of Suboxone or buprenorphine during pregnancy, breast-feeding, and delivery, and in all of them buprenorphine comes out looking better than agonists such as methadone. As far as comments like 'Sub caused me to have more pain'-- that is simply silly.
Avatar m tn The contents of the pill is two fold. Buprenorphine is in a class of medications called opioid partial agonist-antagonists, and naloxone is in a class of medications called opioid antagonists. Buprenorphine alone and the combination of buprenorphine and naloxone prevent withdrawal symptoms when someone stops taking opioid drugs by producing similar effects to these drugs. You put it under your tounge. Junkies die from attempting to inject this drug.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I looked on the side effects of Depakote and I didn't find anything to do with this. I've never been an angry person, nor have I really ever have I ever blasted people or my dogs. I yell at my dogs, have no patience, basically more irritability that I'm not able to control .I'm Bipolar, with mixed states, rapid cycling and have been in the last couple of months, hypomanic.
