Common Questions and Answers about Side effects of arimidex in women

arimidex

Avatar n tn The quality of life sub-study of the Arimidex, Tamoxifen, Alone or in Combination (ATAC) adjuvant breast cancer trial found that the incidence of vaginal dryness, dyspareunia, and loss of sexual interest in women taking AIs was significant.
Avatar n tn The medication your doctor prescribed you is not the best choice for all the women. There are a couple of things your doctor should care of, and they include the age, the general health or everyday activities. You may try Arimidex from this store(http://allforsexandhealth.com/order-arimidex-online-en.html), it really helped me. Their doctor listened to all my concerns and helped to choose the best option.
Avatar f tn Hi, Some women switch between the two drugs depending on the side effects they experience, often women will tolerate one better than the other.. but these two drugs are very similar and both can have similar side effects. I am actually on Arimidex ( almost 2 years) and so far it hasn't been too bad. I have heard of woman who felt better with Femara...so it really depends on how a person can tolerate one drug over the other. I hope that Femara will work better for you. Best wishes..
Avatar n tn If you will visit you can get a complete list of the side effects of Arimidex as well as all the Chemotherapy drugs in use today. Regards .....
962875 tn?1314210036 As many of you know or have experienced, the AIs ( Arimidex, Femara, Aromasin), which are used to treat hormone-receptor positve breast cancer, often produce joint or muscle pain as a side effect. For about 20% of women, the side effects are so severe that they stop taking their medicine, which increases the risk that their breast cancer will recur.
Avatar f tn And as zouzi indicated, women differ in their tolerance for the various AIs, so if one gives too many side effects, it is possible to switch to another. Please keep us posted regarding how you are doing, by adding additional comments to this same thread.
Avatar n tn Dear Piezy, eventually the symptoms of headaches,be from radiation or Arimidex will in time subside, due to the fact that the body gets used to it .I do some breathing exercises, take a pain killer, and especially I try not to focus so much on the side effects....I found that every time I pity myself and get stressed out, things get worse. My sister had radiation and is taking Arimidex (2 years now) and the side effects have considerably lessened.I hope it will happen to us also.
Avatar f tn 20% of the people with my type of cancer make it past 2 years and I am going on 7. Unfortunately the side effects are now too much witht he water retention. I have made myself exercise a min of 3 times a week and truly believe it has helped with the side effects up until now.
Avatar m tn s possible that you could be switched to another medication but keep in mind that most drugs of this type can have the same side effects. As far as needing to be on one of these drugs; you always have to weigh the benefit compared to the side effects and make a decision as to continue the drug or not. Your Oncologist would be able to advise you since he/she has all the medical information necessary to make such a decisiion.
Avatar n tn The Doctor said I should take Advil for the pain and that things will get better. Everyone that I know has taken themselves off of this med due to the side effects. I am 58 yrs old. and I feel like a 100 lately being on this medication. This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/258773'>Femara</a>.
Avatar m tn t believe you will see much hair growth. For further information on side effects from Arimidex the enclosed link is to an Arimidex Forum, check it: http://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.asp?drug=20541&name=arimidex Don't forget Arimidex is an Estrogen Inhibitor, that should give you a clue on what to expect. Take your time and read all you can from the enclosed forum link. Best regards.
Avatar n tn It is of course her decision re whether lowering the risk in her case is worth enduring the side effects. If she does choose to take an AI and the side effects of Arimidex are intolerable, she could see if she would do better on a different one. However, in at least one recent study, Arimidex came out ahead of the others in preventing recurrence. Best wishes to both you and your wife...
Avatar f tn No personal experience here but after a drug is discontinued it takes various lengths of time for the side effects to subside. You should keep in mind that even though most of the drugs in that class have the same side effects BUT not everyone will experience them all OR to the same degree. Only the switch will tell you how Arimidex will affect you.
Avatar n tn I'm not sure that your problems can be the result of Arimidex. There are other drugs and each and every one has basically the same side effects BUT not all are always experienced by every person ... also many even though a factor, are not experienced to the same degree. You might take this up with your Oncology Team in detail. You should remember though that this may be totally unrelated to Arimidex or any other aromatase inhibitor. Regards ....
Avatar n tn i. symptoms be a side effect of anastrozole (arimidex)? I have been taking it for 3 1/2 years, after 1 year on tamoxifen, following lumpectomy, chemo and radiation.
Avatar m tn Armidex may not prolong his growth period much longer with such an advanced bone age, it is a medication used to block estrogen effect, also used in breast cancer, there are concerns with the liver but if monitored carefully most have few side effects. However with a bone age of 17 1/2 growth is near completion. I would work with the peds endocrinologist and talk with them to discuss your concerns, plan of care and monitoring.
Avatar n tn I have had minimal obvious side effects, but some tough not so obvious side effects. It seems the longer I am on it, the side effects have been creeping in. I now have trigger thumb, hands are stiff. Had a bad fall in October, landing on my back and causing compression fractures in several vertebrae. I believe the anastrzole is complicating my recovery. Struggle with higher thought processes and memory issues. However, considering the alternatives.....the AI has not been so bad.
Avatar n tn Is painfful intercourse a common side effect of Arimidex? I even have pain from just touching the vaginal area, plus burning from contact to various soaps except Ivory. Will this go away when I get off of Arimidex in 3 more years? My obgyn wants to give me estrogen cream but my oncologist is against it. What can I do to get relief? HELP!
Avatar m tn Lupron, as I wrote in my previous post seems to have some negative side effects associated with it. One lasting one is thin bone density. But women are much more plagued by that than men. In fact, Precocious puberty is much more common in girls in general so a lot of what you read about it is geared toward girls. If you are wanting your child to grow more, prolonging full puberty could work for you. But yes, I'd expect some side effects. Hard decision.
