1394098 tn?1385960134 Thank you for the encouragement. I thought the end would be easier but it's a good thing that I feel this way now instead of in the middle of tx. It would have been hard to continue. With the end in sight it makes it easier to tolerate. And congrats on ending your tx. I'm so glad you are feeling better. I don't get on the forum very often but I appreciate all the wisdom and encouragement I've gotten from ppl here.
Avatar f tn Well she is 15yrs old and lost all teeth except the bottom fang on right side it is black at bottom of tooth. I can't afford $300+ for extraction. I called a vet today and asked it we could just wrap her up numb it and pull it w/out cost of anesthesia I was told no. I mixed tuna juice w/ amoxicillin cap(500mg) and gave her 32mg hoping to help her infection and pain. Have you ever known any vets to use local to pull a tooth?
Avatar n tn Drooling is absolutely a possible side effect of amoxicillin. Also look for lack of appetite, diarrhea and vomiting. Signs of liver disfunction, like jaundice of the eyes, skin etc. are less likely but also possible. There are also more severe symptoms of anaphylactic shock (allergic reaction) that could occur if you continue giving the medication. The best course of action is to discontinue the amoxicillin and take your kitty in to the vet as soon as possible. Welcome to the forum.
Avatar m tn I have 2 litters of kittens, 11 total and 8 of them are showing SERIOUS signs of upper respiratory infection. I called the vet she said this was definitely what they have. I have been giving them amoxicillin through their moms because they are too young to eat it through food. I cant afford to go to the vet and get the amoxicillin through them its about 10 times the price. Can someone please give me any advice? someone who maybe has dealt with this before? is there an eye drop I can buy?
Avatar m tn There are only antibiotics that affect the replication of different species of bacteria. In the case of tb, for example, there are 16,000 varients of the bacteria. There are bacteria that are anaerobic and those that are not. There gram positive and gram negative. As for the side effects file a drug reaction form at the FDA site. There are many different reactions to what are similar antibiotics.
Avatar m tn t help but feel that there is a lot of missing information out there about possible side effects. Has anyone else experienced anything like this lately?
Avatar n tn His pupils were fixed and dilated, his gait was extremely wobbly and he seemed to navigate in bursts of energy. I discontinued the med and the head posture returned to normal over three days. Gait took a day or so longer and pupils started to react after five days but remain sluggish. Drug induced myasthenia gravis is described rarely in the literature. My very experienced vet says he has never seen it. Has anyone else?
Avatar f tn This is the usual drug I use to treat abscess-type infections and I want to make sure the interior infection clears up. Is there a good alternative to amoxicillin for this type of infection?
Avatar m tn my cat is 15 years old. He has a lump under his chin. Can I give him Amoxicillin in capsule 250mg, and how much? Thank you.
702036 tn?1259539116 Have you taken amoxicillin successfully in the past? In that case, I can't see it being a problem during tx. Some people do have bad side effects from it. My younger son broke out in a crazy red rash from head to toe when he was little but some liquid benadryl calmed it down. We changed to something else but I don't remember what. You may want to have some benadryl handy, just in case.
Avatar f tn After I got it drained my dentist put me on 4,000mg of Amoxicillin a day becasue I had to get rid of the infection and the swelling had to continue to go down before he extracted the tooth. In my opinion I feel your husband is on proper treatment. However I'm uncertain about the effects of it being long term and the possibility of blood being in his semen.
Avatar m tn These antibiotics cause the least liver damage and only patients who are allergic may experience some side effects. Generally, antibiotics in the penicillin family are the most “liver friendly” and safe for chronic hepatitis patients to use. But this website: http://www.hepcnet.net/drugsandliverdamage.html Drugs that may cause CHOLESTATIC JAUNDICE actinomycin D chlorpropamide erythromycin amoxicillin/clavulanate The advice is to read the label information carefully. Short term use is fine.
Avatar m tn About a month ago I was prescribed a course of Clarithromycin for a skin infection. Since taking the drug I've suffered huge surges of adrenaline, which kicks in like a lighting shot at the point of sleep. It kept me away many nights and I was beside myself with worry. It's now more than three weeks since I stopped the medication (I only completed 2.5 days out of 7) and I find that the adrenaline surges have subsided somewhat.
Avatar n tn so i stopped taking them. i notified the dentist 10/9/06 of the amoxicillin side effects i was then told i probably didn't need them and not to worry about taking another antibiotic. on 10/10/06 i awoke to find my face on the left side swollen and painful. i went back to the dentist i was then put on clindomycin which hepled with the pain and swelling until today 10/12/06. pain and swelling is back.
Avatar m tn It ended up opening up and I kept it clean and treated and it healed with in a week or so. I didnt really think much of it until it appeared again a few weeks ago. The thing is this time along with the one large "bump" with in a few days he had developed at least 10 more small bumps on his skin. They dont bother him and they appear to be cyst like. I cannot tell if they are going down or not.
Avatar m tn ve taken the full course of your antibiotics, presuming you are able and have no deterring side effects, it is wise to take a weeks worth of a probiotic supplement (like yogurt, but in pill form) that is enteric coated so to survive your stomach acid. That will put your digestion and body back in balance. Good luck.
676912 tn?1332812551 It is also reasonable to expect that an overdose would cause any of the usual amoxicillin side effects, but perhaps more severely. For instance, it is possible that nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea would occur. Treatment for an Amoxicillin Overdose The treatment for an amoxicillin overdose will vary. If the overdose was recent, a healthcare provider may administer certain medicines or place a tube into the stomach to "pump the stomach.
Avatar f tn I have to go to school and drive many places, and having dizzy spells and nausea concern me. I took amoxicillin this past year with no side effects. No nausea or anything. Does that mean that this antibiotic will possibly be the same way? I take my first dose tonight and I don't want to wake up and take it, only to have to miss school again because I cant get to school due to the dizziness and nausea.
1090937 tn?1259215095 It may be due to mainly the fact that the child is in less pain and thus is catching up on lost or disturbed sleep. However watch out for rash and loose stool, which are the commonest side effects. If the child remains sleepy even after 24-48 hours consult the doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn I have had very little problems with Prolia. I've done 4 injections over the past 2 years. Just a little bit of bone pain for the first 2 wks after the injection then, it goes away. That said, unfortunately, for me, my DEXA did not improve and my osteoporosis in my spine (the T-score) did not get better. Now, my doctor is sending me to a 'bone' clinic that apparently specializes in bone disorders such as osteoporosis.
Avatar m tn I did have a lot of side effects in the beginning week. This was a different feeling though. I felt out of control. I felt like passing out and that I couldn't stand up. I was really tired too. My doc immediately prescribed me 20mg of Paroxetine and 10mg of Buspirone. He wanted to up my dosage to 25mg of Paroxetine and 15mg of Buspirone. I didn't want this however because I know there are some withdrawal problems with paxil.
72351 tn?1281992542 Well, it just bugged me to no end of how quickly this supposed hernia developed and how large it became, so a couple of nights ago I looked very close at it and as I was doing so, one side of it ruptured and was full of pus. My gut feelings of it being an abscess rather than a hernia were confirmed. The other side of it did not rupture, but was just so large and the skin so thin, I pricked it with a needle and it too was full of pus.
Avatar n tn Allergic reactions to antibiotics do not typically manifest as dizziness or fogginess, but rather rash, itching, angioedema (swelling of the mouth, and in severe cases the airway). Corticosteroids can lead to several side effects including a sense of fogginess (and in others a sense of euphoria/insomnia), typically high rather than low blood pressure, and other side effects (even one dose of high doses of steroids can lead to acute confusion in older adults).
17213106 tn?1456525991 First, realize that when it comes to natural remedies most of the side effects are largely theoretical. This is because either there aren't very many side effects worth reporting or nobody's reporting them. This is logical, because most doctors don't report drug side effects either -- most of the reports come from hospitals.
