Common Questions and Answers about Shoulder operations recovery

operation

Avatar n tn What underlying conditions if any do you have in your shoulders? I have had 3 shoulder operations and this is one of the things they warned me about happening if I did not follow all of my therapy after the operations.
Avatar f tn I am 36 years old. I have had 8 operations due to female problems (severe endometriosis), finally had complete hysterectomy in 2006. Have 2 healthy childrens despite ill health. thank God! Last week went for G Scope and and C Scope. Have results of perforated ulcera ... [More] tion in stomach. Colon is clear. Recently went for MRI C-SPINE and MRI BRAIN. My prolactin level has increased to 117. I have a completely degerated disk between C5 - C6.
Avatar f tn HI After having subacrominal bursectomy by arthroscope in december 2009 i developed a post-op frozen shoulder. I had no internal or external rotation and could only raise my arm behind my back to my hip pocket on my jeans. In march 2010 i had manipulation under anestetic with arthroscope and the surgeon achieved 160 degrees of movement. I have had physio therapy twice a week and have also been receiving hydrotherapy twice a week.
1478258 tn?1287390186 Laparoscopic surgery, or minimally invasive surgery (MIS), keyhole surgery, is a modern surgical technique in which operations in the abdomen are performed through small incisions as compared to larger incisions needed in traditional surgical procedures. Keyhole surgery uses images displayed on TV monitors for magnification of the surgical elements. Laparoscopic surgery includes operations within the abdominal or pelvic cavities.
Avatar f tn I am a disabled Veteran. Due to my service connected shoulder injury I have had 7 operations. In the time I had the operations over the course of 4 years I was on OxyContin for three and a half years of it. Finally the shoulder felt better but the pain meds were quite hard to stop on my own so I went to rapid detox doctor in Manhattan that had me on a ton of things.
Avatar f tn However, I developed intermittent left shoulder and neck area tingling, numbness and spasms after 2.5 weeks, which is ongoing. It seems to occur most often when I move in a certain position but not always. I had back surgery about 15 years ago when a rupture was repaired between L4/L5. Some of the pain/discomfort is similar and I think I may have developed a bulge that is impinging on nerves in my neck area.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, it will take some time for this doctor to obtain authorization and a facility in which to perform my operations because I only have Medicaid. I had contacted every single ortho in LA. Each and every one of them refused to see me. I even wrote to our "Governator" with no response. It was pure luck, fate, God, whatever that this kindhearted surgeon stopped to see my while I was on a gurney waiting for cataract surgery.
Avatar n tn The week before my swelling arose, I was very constipated for about 6 days and was hardly able to pass any stools. I have several questions about my condition, recovery time, and swelling. My Epididymis is still slightly swollen and hardened almost, it is not very painful however I sometimes have a very acute pain. My Vas Deferans (sp?) is very slightly swollen still however I feel no more pain in my groin.
Avatar f tn I had cervical decompression and anterior fusion surgery 11/16/07. My recovery has been pretty good. My x-rays show good fusion. However I am now experiencing similar pain in my neck, shoulder and upper arm just like before my surgery. I have been fairly pain free since my surgery so this is very scary. Any ideas on what this is?
Avatar m tn It doesn't really sound normal to me. You can expect some pain after the surgery for a few days, at least it did for me. I kept with the pain meds for a few days, and then was off them. I couldn't get out of bed or move for 2 days. I had shoulder pain really bad for a few days. Since it's been a couple of weeks, I would try and see if she could get in with someone to see if everything is healing correctly. When she had her stitches taken out, was she still in this much pain?
Avatar f tn My son has had 2 Weaver-Dunn procedures to repair a separated shoulder but it has once again separated and the bone is sticking up quite a bit and putting pressure on the existing scar. Will it heal on it's own or should he seek additional surgery? He has been experiencing numbness in the shoulder and upper arm areas and is in constant pain. He is using a sling and is restricing physical movement. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Has anyone had surgery for a fracture at C7. It been 4 days since my surgery. What is recovery from surgery for a fracture at C7 like. At the present time my neck and shoulder are in pain and very sore. I have had a constant bad headache that will not stop. Any suggestion on how my recovery will go over the next few weeks will be appreciated and what I can do to help with my recovery.
Avatar n tn Not using your shoulder because it hurts can cause troubles known as frozen shoulder if I remember correctly. If your doctor is injecting you with cortisone that can hurt more for a while before it gets better. I hope you get to feeling better soon!
241234 tn?1220980556 Some of my medical providers told me that my arm recovery would come first closest to my core, proximal, and last to come back would be furthest away from my core, distal, i.e. my fingers. Does anyone know if this is true? I saw this in another posting again today. Since recovery takes place in the brain it doesn't make any sense that it would take place proiximal to distal. Any thoughts or actual research on this.
Avatar f tn Sorry, i should also add that i do have arthritis and have lost some movement on my right shoulder and arm and my right shoulder has dropped also.
Avatar n tn Since this last surgery, which was a about 2 years ago, my left shoulder started hurting - it started during the recovery phase of the 3rd surgery - compensating for loss of the right arm I imagine. Over the past 2 years, it has come and gone. About 3 months ago, I was playing on the monkey bars with my 5 year old (showing off) and ended up hanging suddenly using only my left arm and felt something pop/pull severly.

Avatar f tn ve had on and off sharp pains in my left shoulder, normally when lifting it to some sort of height or if i jolt. When these pains happen I feel slightly nauseous, lightheaded and dizzy. When keeping my arm still or trying to keep the movement limited my arm feels heavy and aches (similar to the feeling of doing weights the day before) and also a slight pins and needles feeling in my hand on the same arm as well as in my shoulder vaguely.

Avatar f tn These are often brutal operations with very stormy recoveries and not at all like routine cataract surgery. You can use the archives and search feature and read the many posts from people having RD/Cataract IOL surgery. It is not possible to generalize how, or if your eye will recover. You will need to get this information from your surgeons.
Avatar f tn hello, im a 54 year old woman who had bypass surgery 17 days ago, using a vein from my chest, can you please tell me if its normal to have a stabbing pain in my middle back shoulder when siffing up or sneezing, many thanks lynda
Avatar f tn I just turned 17 and was diagnosed 3 years ago, after I developed a shoulder twitch and excruciating headaches in the back of my head. My MRI showed an "unimpressive" Chiari, so my neurologist at the time decided to not act on surgery. Fast forward a few years, I have suffered from excruciating headaches, nausea and vomiting almost every day, pins and needles in my hands and feet, and basically no quality of life.
Avatar m tn My sister had a aortic valve replacement surgery 4 years ago, she ended up with a pacemaker and had a long recovery. We found out that she now needs aortic valve replacement/ascending aneurysm repair surgery. does anyone know the risks involved?
Avatar m tn Watch for any other symptoms like diarrhea, blood in stool, unable to pass anything, more pain in your abdomen as well as a pain in your shoulder/collar bone area. This is usually an indicator of air in the body that is not supposed to be there. Take it easy!
497841 tn?1487718127 I suggest you discuss with your neurosurgeon the success rate of operations like this to the spine, as well as the risks involved using the surgery. Another point to discuss with the surgeon is regarding the length of recovery and need for physical therapy after the surgery. I hope that your surgery will be as uneventful as possible, and a full road to recovery will be en route. Regards and God bless.
