Avatar f tn Hi, I have had shoulder pain from approx 2yrs resulting from an accident. My doctor referred me to an orthopeadic surgeon in dec 2008, it was dec 2009 when i finally received surgery. I had an arthroscopic procedure called sub acrominal decompression. I cannot tell you in words how painful this was!!!! Unfortunately my pain persisted and i developed a frozen shoulder and i had manipliation under anestetic in march 2010.
Avatar f tn The screw should be taken away in an operation. I think that when time is going on, PHPT will become worse and the shoulder operation will become more difficult to do. I had not time to discuss this with the doctor, as I could not ask many other questions either ( I had 2x30 minutes time). Just now I don’t have pain in the shoulder and therefore don’t like to go to the operation. But sometimes I have pain and weakness in the shoulder and neck spine.
Avatar f tn Wow 6 years later but this is the first post ive found with Pericardiectomy survivors who had the operation young like me. Im 24 and in the UK. I had a total pericardiectomy 5 weeks ago after 6years of undiagnosed constrictive pericarditis. Im really curious to see how youre both doing 6 years later? Did you manage to sort out your post-op symptoms? How has the op affected your life since 2010? I cant wait to be able to exercise again.
Avatar m tn I have been advised to have an operation (arthroscopic) to the tendons of my rigth shoulder. The procedure is to repair the rotator cuff tendon and the biceps tendon. This could be due to an old injury as I was analyzed some years back with a frozen shoulder. Recently the pain and disconfort on my rigth shoulder was accelerated by exercising at the gym. I have now rested for 6months and the pain has gone away but I have lost some power in my right shoulder.
Avatar f tn A nerve block is used during the operation which means that immediately after the operation the shoulder and arm may feel numb. This may last a few hours. After this the shoulder may well be sore and you will be given pain killers to help this whilst in hospital. These can be continued after you are discharged home. Ice packs may also help reduce pain. Wrap frozen peas or crushed ice in a damp, cold cloth and place on the shoulder for up to 15 minutes.

Avatar f tn Pain is bound to happen after any operation. As this operation is arthroscopic and the damage is minimal, the chances of reinjuring the shoulder during sleep are very less. The recovery occurs in a series of phases. Keep helping yourself with physical therapy.
Avatar f tn I too have frozen shoulder following on from a Artriscopic Decommpression Sub operation. I feel I ahve gone backwards, did so well 10 days after my operation with regard to my movement and now I hav ethis issue. It is sooooooooo painful and it makes me feel sick on sudden movements and aches constantly.
Avatar f tn My stomach was full of food after fasting for 11 hrs and convinced this operation has exacerbated slow transit, which I did have very slightly before the operation. The only thing they are offering me is to take an antibiotic to quicken the stomach contractions as they will not operate again after having three of them! Is there anyone out there who suffers from the same thing since the operation. I would love to hear from you and of your experiences. Many thanks.
Avatar f tn You can't really say an exact time frame that it takes a shoulder to 'refreeze' as every shoulder and every patient are different. They will work your shoulder gradually, working up to the full range that your ortho wants, based on what you can do.
Avatar n tn 21 days post-arthroscopic left shoulder surgery for removal of 3 spurs, arthritis, and shredded bursa the pain and daily discomfort along with nightly pain that causes need to leave the bed and move or sit in recliner is 10-20 times worse than before the operation whether I "rest" the shoulder by doing nothing but ice or use the shoulder while cutting or carrying firewood/using the arm in 'normal' daily activities there is no significant difference.
Avatar m tn I have both cervical and lumbar DDD that causes severe headache/neckache/shoulder pain, as well as lumbar pain--sometimes all occur together, sometimes it's more one or the other, mostly right-sided. I am 68 and have always been physically active. I have done some research on microsurgeries for neck and back. Anyone have info on results they or significant others have with this?
Avatar m tn Hi, i was just wondering if anyone would know if a nerve block i had for a shoulder operation could cause the issues im having with my shoulder and arm now, before i had only pain in my shoulder(rotor Cuff), after the operation and nerve block i had , i am still numb 6 mnths later, have burning feelings in whole arm, cannot turn wrist properly, fingers feel like they are "dead", limited use , all of this and im only 32 years old. Any answers would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn Finally, the planned surgical approach will be a thoracotomy, which is through an incision on the side and back under the shoulder blade. I recommend that you discuss these questions with your primary cardiologist more completely so that your questions are answered appropriately.
Avatar f tn When I lean my neck forward I get this pulling feeling on my left shoulder blade. Sometimes the pain goes into my left elbow and lower arm, and sometimes on the left side of my chest. The chest ache doesn't feel like pain to much. It just feels like if I put pressure on the left shoulder blade then that's when the pain will go to chest. I wake up with stiff a stiff neck a lot. Sometimes these pains last a week and go away for several weeks. Sometimes they go away for 2 weeks.
