Avatar f tn I had a vitrectomy to repair a macular hole 9 months ago and have been told that it is likely that i will develop a cataract. I have to go for a check up next week and i was wondering that if i do have a cataract how long is the recovery time,i am retired so i don't have to work ,but i do look after my 8 month old grandson while my daughter works. I have heard that you can't do any bending and lifting after a cataract operation, but not sure for how long.
Avatar m tn There is variance in recovery times. Some patients were back at work in five weeks others several months. Your current health status may put you in the several weeks category. For some insight, right after the surgery, you will be kept in ICU unit and closely monitored for around 24 hours to 48 hours. . If there are no complications, you will leave the ICU and be placed in a normal hospital room where you can recover.
Avatar f tn I also have a slow digesting stomach and a lazy colon so basically i feel bad all of the time. Hopefully this will at least get rid of the back/shoulder pain and the side pain. Did you have laproscopic surgery? How long was your recovery time? How long was the procedure? We are actually hoping since I have chronic constipation that my bowels will begin to move better. Some people say that they have loose stool after eating certain things.

Avatar n tn Hi I have been struggling with this question for a few years now. My mother is currently 85 yrs. old, lives in a nursing home, wheelchair bound. Diagnosed with Parkinson's (does not really have the tremors, just hard for her brain to communicate with her muscles causing very hard time walking ...she "freezes" at times. Along with possible Parkinson's Dementia.
Avatar m tn ve a science degree in the physical scientists, so enjoy researching topics). My recovery time was the classical two year period, which is very typical for the syndrome.
Avatar f tn As this operation is arthroscopic and the damage is minimal, the chances of reinjuring the shoulder during sleep are very less. The recovery occurs in a series of phases. Keep helping yourself with physical therapy.
1263062 tn?1289450701 You and your family and friends are right I think. MORE TIME. That shoulder pain is horrible I know what you mean. Others will be along shortly and I will write more later as I am cooking dinner right now.
Avatar f tn A nerve block is used during the operation which means that immediately after the operation the shoulder and arm may feel numb. This may last a few hours. After this the shoulder may well be sore and you will be given pain killers to help this whilst in hospital. These can be continued after you are discharged home. Ice packs may also help reduce pain. Wrap frozen peas or crushed ice in a damp, cold cloth and place on the shoulder for up to 15 minutes.
Avatar f tn Well for one thing it is still early in your recovery....it took years for me to see all the benefits from my surgery.....it can take time. Can I assume you had the dura opened?...IF so, what type of dura patch was used. With recovery after this surgery we need to move slowly....and many times people rush to "get back" to "normal".....listen to your body and don't rush as it can cause setbacks and don't give your recovery a time frame to be healed....
Avatar f tn In your previously posted question (10/14/15) I said that this operation is unusual and recovery is not as fast or predictable as the standard cataract removal insertion of IOL done in an adult. The complication you have is not rare. The white stuff is usuallyy as Soemmering's Ring dislocation see link below. http://bjo.bmj.com/content/35/4/226.full.pdf This is not a minor operation. This will reset the clock to day one again.
Avatar n tn Since this last surgery, which was a about 2 years ago, my left shoulder started hurting - it started during the recovery phase of the 3rd surgery - compensating for loss of the right arm I imagine. Over the past 2 years, it has come and gone. About 3 months ago, I was playing on the monkey bars with my 5 year old (showing off) and ended up hanging suddenly using only my left arm and felt something pop/pull severly.
Avatar m tn Hi, i was just wondering if anyone would know if a nerve block i had for a shoulder operation could cause the issues im having with my shoulder and arm now, before i had only pain in my shoulder(rotor Cuff), after the operation and nerve block i had , i am still numb 6 mnths later, have burning feelings in whole arm, cannot turn wrist properly, fingers feel like they are "dead", limited use , all of this and im only 32 years old. Any answers would be appreciated.

535758 tn?1213715961 When I awoke from the surgery I had awful shoulder pain. I was in recovery screaming my shoulder and bicep was killing me. When I went to neuro for post op he sent me to a doctor to look at my shoulder. I did not have shoulder pain before the neck surgery however, now I have pain in both shoulders. Eight weeks ago I had slap and rotator cuff surgery because I was told my shoulder was torn. I am not getting any better!
Avatar f tn I made sure that I only ate what I was suppose to and ate only 1/2 cup at a time about every 2 to 3 hours. The one time I ate more, I had the shoulder pain and went for a long walk and this helped. I was on soft food when I went home from the hospital and ate still only 1/2 cup. I ate blended foods. No tomato, carbinated drink or any acid food.
Avatar f tn I had emergency surgery a little over a week ago to remove a 10cm dermiod cyst. The reason why it was removed in an emergency was because of pain in my left side. They found out during the operation it twisted my falopion tube killing the tissue. Because of the size of the cyst they had to remove it by laporotomy. I gave birth to 4 children without ever having a c-section..funny how that works out.
6443793 tn?1469746195 Just try to keep her on the calm side,NO jumping up on any couches, beds, chairs( or down off of them) for 5 days, also it would be best she did not go up or down steps for this time frame also. IF she wants to race or run around, you may need to put a harness and leash on her, keep her close ( hook the leash to your belt)so she is slowed down or use a crate to allow her to rest, lay down more.IF you have steps to go outside pick her up,carry out,let her potty then carry back inside.
Avatar f tn t mention if he had heart attack, age or general health aside from his CAD. Certainly his physicians will be the ones to advise but with a good recovery (and otherwise good health), he hopefully will be able to return to his work. He may tire at first but will rebuild his stamina.
