Avatar m tn I have had an MRI of my shoulder and x-ray of my wrist, and neck. (4 years ago) NO MRI OF SPINE, HEAD, NECK although the Dr has ordered an MRI of my neck this month. The bones and joints appear healthy,. nerve testing indicated my nerves were working ok (3 years ago) No tests have been done on my arteries and no bone scans. Physiotherapy and chiropractor..not intensive enough to make a difference. Deep tissue massage helps ease muscle pain and stretches also help to ease the pain.
Avatar m tn Hi guys, 3 weeks ago I work up with left shoulder pain esp. on the side and upper shoulder. The symptoms got worse and I had an X ray and MRI done of my shoulder. Everything checked out ok. a week later pain got worse and has radiated to my upper back and lower neck. Now I am having trouble lifting my left arm!! I can lift it if I use my right arm to assist but I cannot lift it on my own.Like I have no strength or something is wrong with my nerves???
Avatar m tn We went back to the neurologist and he is still sure it is Parkinson. He says because my husband doesn't swing his arm and he has cogwheel rigidity in his wrist it has to be Parkinson. He did not want to do anything about th C5 C6 mild compression but my husband's neck and shoulder pain are getting worse. We go to a Movement Specialist this month for a second opinion.
666921 tn?1254990618 You could have two different things going on: Lyme and something else that is causing neck pain. That makes diagnosis more difficult, but not impossible. Looking back, it seems I had a thyroid infection or something that dragged on and on, and then I got Lyme and a coinfection, so the drs were really confused beyond what they might be otherwise. It is inflammation that causes the stiff neck I have from Lyme; it is slowly going away with antibiotic treatment.
Avatar m tn The pain is unlikely to be a rebound effect or a side effect of the medication you are under. Neck and shoulder pain could be related to a few causes such as spinal issues, inflammations, degenerations, dislocation, injuries etc. It would be best to have this evaluated by a primary care physician or an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Meanwhile you may try warm compresses or OTC NSAIDS and see of these seem to help. Hope this is helpful. Take care!

Avatar m tn 6 weeks ago I woke up with a really sore upper back and pain under my right shoulder blade. The pain is now down my tricep and along my outer forearm into my ring and pinky finger. The pain is not constant but really hurts when it does. Sometime the triecp and forearm hurt more than the upper back. I have full range of motion and no weakness. It hurts worst when driving or sitting at my computer.
666921 tn?1254990618 t have any neck pain untill after tick-bite [I have not been dx lyme] - I had slight shoulder pain on left side but just niggily!! - since tick bite and episode of very stiff neck - I have severe neck pain /shoulder pain on right side. I can't decide if the pain is due to degeneration or lyme - I suppose I should wait to see what LLMD thinks about this symptom. I know must of us here have done a lot of research and self diagnosis so I just thought I'd ask for your opinions.
Avatar n tn I suggest you to apply cold compresses on the right side shoulder and take some anti inflammatory pain killers like Diclofen or Ibuprfen after prescription from your doctor. Give complete rest to the part , apply some topical muscle relaxants and avoid doing any activity like raising your arms or stretching the arms which causes any further damage.
Avatar f tn A little over a week ago I woke up with what felt like a pulled muscle in my neck, which causes stiff neck and pain in my neck and shoulder on the right side. Two days later, it had radiated up to my jaw and ear (still right side only) and sometimes would cause me to feel pain behind my right eye-sort of like a migraine. A day after that I had pain at the base of my skull on the right side alone with an almost burning sensation in my neck and shoulder.
Avatar n tn The patient may also report severe pain at the elbow or wrist with radiation into the hand or up into the shoulder and neck. Please get a complete evaluation done by a neurologist to ascertain the appropriate diagnosis and treatment. Best..

Avatar m tn What causes severe pain to radiate from neck down to shoulder and arm and prevent a person from raising his or her arm above their shoulder, except if they are lying down with back against the mattress?
Avatar m tn I wonder if it was a mis-diagnosis or half-diagnosis, and it makes me question whether the nerve pinching issues is actually at the shoulder RATHER than the neck. Regardless, the issue is no longer in my neck and shoulder, but in my neck, shoulder, and back. It's difficult to even pinpoint the pain. It's like one big, sore clump spawning from mid-back to shoulder to neck. DIFFICULTY SPEAKING: One of the red flags I'm experiencing is difficulty speaking.
572846 tn?1217211208 TMA is right the source of her pain could be any number of things. Sometimes that type of pain can actually originate in the neck and radiate into her shoulders and arms. It could also be she strained some muscles in the area. It could be arthritis is her neck. Any good physican can do the initial evaluation and refer her on to the proper specilaist that can do the final DX (diagnosis)and TX (treatment). I wish you and your my the best.

Avatar m tn I have had a sharp pain in my top back left shoulder, and it's shooting up my head on the left side, and it is very sharp.. It hurts pretty bad, and reply as soon as you can.
Avatar n tn When these episodes happen, I can look in the mirror and see my neck is crooked, it leans toward my right shoulder. My left shoulder is always about an inch higher than my right, even when I am not in pain. Sometimes the pain radiates down my right arm into my pinky and also seems to go straight through my shoulder blade to the front of my chest. I have seen a chiropractor for it once before but stopped going due to lack of insurance and money to pay for it.
Avatar f tn They checked my heart straight away but all fine but he was worried about clot so sent me to hospital. At the hospital they did an ecg, chest and neck X-ray, full blood test and a chest and neck ct scan and all came back clear expect for a a slightly elevated platlets 447. Went home and in that duration pain still strong and not subsiding or giving me a break for even a minute.
Avatar m tn Sometimes ligament tears and tendonitis around the shoulder joint also causes shoulder sagging. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Avatar m tn Have very severe neck pain. Have seen a neuroligist twice in the last two months. He did injections. Neither helped, especially last one. Neck hurts worse. Wake up with 2 out of ten pain. By days end pain is a ten out of ten. Been prescribed opiates, they do Nothing for the pain. What should I do? I am totally useless . Only extended bed rest helps.
Avatar n tn It starts and goes through my collar bone area and up the side of my neck. It happens 50+ times a day, and is really interfering with my life. I can find no trigger for it, or anyway to get it to stop. Although each instance only last maybe a few seconds, it feels like forever, and happens often. I dont know if the back and shoulder pain are related, but because both are on my left side, I thought they might be. Has anyone experienced these symptoms, or know of anything they might be?
Avatar n tn yep, it's nerve pain between the shoulder blades. Do you know what the problem is? Did you have an MRI? Depending on what the problem is, a chiropractor might be helpful... but it all depends on the problem. My Neuro has told me never to let anyone manipulate my neck because of my large cervical herniations. So, again - IF your Dr gives you the ok - go see a chiropractor (always check with them first)... they can really can help in some instances...
