Common Questions and Answers about Should i buy exercise bike or treadmill

exercise

Avatar f tn I exercise on a regularly basis, everyday on both the treadmill and bike for a minium of a hour, can this harm or mess with pregnancy?
Avatar n tn I want to buy myself something do use to workout with since where I live the weather is pretty random. Problem is that I don't have a lot of money to do so.. Is buying cardio equipment from a second hand store bad? Would it be unreliable??
Avatar f tn I have also bought a bike and i just started peddeling..I was useing a treadmill but i have bad knees and my doctor said it was not good for me....So peddeled 6 miles yesterday...And i will keep it up every day i hope to do a little more....I will let you know how things go for me i am wanting to loose 29 pounds before i go to Texas in July...Good Luck to you loosing weight is a very hard thing to do..
Avatar m tn I have occasional chest pain, sometimes when I run on a treadmill, never when I ride the exercise bike. Most of the time the chest pain comes when I'm resting, kind of like a sharp pain in the middle of my chest. I also experience palpitations throughout the course of the day. I'm on BP medication (avapro 150mg). My BP is usually in check running around 118/70.
Avatar f tn I just stick to walking... whether its outside or on a treadmill. You can go bike riding as well. Squats, lunges... simple stuff. Don't do anything where you are putting strain on your body or where you won't be able to catch your breath.
Avatar n tn re still ambulatory then you should maintain this ability, and walking on a treadmill is a way to track your progress. A decent treadmill will not only record speed and distance, but will enable you to change the elevation at which you walk, which can strengthen your legs and increase the stretch reflex in your calves. Your training is not just about strengthening the muscles, it is about getting your nervous system to respond, so use variety in your walking patterns.
Avatar f tn i don't know about a stationary bike but i used the treadmill every day until i was put on bed rest at 24 weeks. i walked (not a slow walk and not a jog) for 2-3 miles. i went crazy when i was on bedrest. i couldn't stand just laying there all day....
973741 tn?1342342773 Never needed to listen to anything on a bike or while running, but when I walk or go to the gym -- or when I could go to the gym -- I listen to NPR. We have a station that is all talk and I learn a ton listening to the various shows. If you listen to the BBC you actually get world news, which you don't get on TV here anymore. Lots of stuff going on. I have the opposite problem to you, Mom -- I really can't exercise anymore but I just can't stop.
Avatar f tn I think I am going to do the bike. Last few times I was on a treadmill I spent the entire time bouncing from one side rail to the other. I was so afraid I was going to do a face plant. When I am walking outside, after I get tired/hot I start staggering. This happened all the time when I was running last year, but I thought that happened to everyone who trained for a marathon. It only caused me to train harder and feel worse. Stupid, stupid, I now know this. LOL.
12693075 tn?1442246392 I walk & use the stationary bike every week. My goal is 10 miles a week. I was doing more pre pregnancy. I didn't exercise much in my 1st trimester because I was so tired. My 2nd trust is almost over and I'm hoping I can keep exercising! I also use free weights fir my arms and some machines. I don't do more than 25lbs but make up for it with more reps! Exercise is good for endurance! Im hoping my delivery goes well because ive stayed active!
1018329 tn?1448980165 I'm 18w2d. I walk about 2-3hrs a day or more. No arm workout until I'm about 20w with light weights. I'm going to start doing light yoga in 21w. I eat health too. Drink lots of water or fresh bone or vegetable soup. :-) No junk food, candy & no by products. Good luck. :-D and Congrats..
483733 tn?1326798446 I do exercise but I can't say I enjoy it. If you want to start some program I would highly recommend you do it with a friend. It helps the time go back more quickly and you're more likely to commit to it. We did invest in a recumbant bike for home. It's easy enough to sit there, leaning back a bit and reading a book while I pedal. Or set it up in front of the TV and watch a show. I do enjoy my bike.
1059772 tn?1286655190 hi all, I have had this experience twice now on a tread mill where I see stars and start to faint. However, I don't have this problem with swimming or cycling. Does anyone know why the exercise on a tread mill would be different? I wasn't running, just walking fast. Unfortunately, I have easy access to a treadmill but the pool is quite the hike. Thanks, skye (finally feeling well enough to move it!
12693075 tn?1442246392 s miserably hot so the only exercise I do is go swimming. I would really like a gym membership to walk on the treadmill or the bike machine.
Avatar m tn other than that I think yoga and pilates would be really good, I have a pilates dvd, I will dig it out. I have an exercise bike and I use that too... I wear compression hose to keep my bp up and that has really helped my exercise level. Just remember slow and steady!! I find that if I think I am feeling really good and push myself, I pay for it, by being sick for two or three days after. So pace yourself. Glad you found us!!
1896537 tn?1381900009 On the treadmill, I can put in more of an effort and get a better aerobic benefit, with th safety of even footing and side bars on the treadmill for balance when I need them. Sometimes I have to stop after 15 minutes or so if I get too hot, so I cool off for a while and get back on. I'd like to get back to 45 mins / day, so far after 30 minutes I've got to stop. By then the paresthesia is so uncomfortable it literally makes me feel nauseous.
Avatar f tn omg i have the same thing , i can walk stairs or treadmill and not get the feeling i get on walking up a very small hill, have been so concern its my heart, i had a echo and stress test done last month they said it was ok, but my upper back and my left arm and my chest feels not normal, hurts and tight maybe not sure , it stops after i get pass the small hill and i feel find, so worried its heart but had test that say no, i do have rods going down both sides of my spine and its fused together
Avatar f tn But for best results, either go to the gym where they have better bikes or buy a heavier duty one. Or, and I know this is radical these days, buy a real bike, go OUTSIDE, and ride hills.
Avatar f tn I lost 20 lbs just doing interval training on treadmill 30 minutes in am and 30 min in pm....(you can do on bike too). Now I am a vegetarian and looking to tone.....you got this girl.
Avatar f tn All showed nothing serious. I can walk on my treadmill or ride my exercise bike for 30 minutes without a single skipped beat but if I try walking outside my heart just skips and skips. I am assuming this is my GAD and panic disorder. I do not have tachycardia, chest pain dizziness etc. My question is, what would be symptoms accompanying this situation that should prompt me to see a doctor for tests yet again? Thank you.
Avatar f tn A recent study conducted by the University of Buffalo’s Concussion Management Clinic suggests that cardio vascular exercise performed on a equipment that does not involve a lot of impact or bouncing such as a stationary bike, elliptical or treadmill can speed the recovery process. One of the lead researchers Dr.
18524847 tn?1465595901 Even though there's nothing better than fresh air and a change of scenery to make exercise more fun, moving is moving, wherever you're doing it; it's much better than sitting in front to the computer for hours like I'm doing now... :-) I have a treadmill and although I don't use it like I should, neither do I go outside and walk like I should either.
Avatar f tn I EXERCISE....in my mind all of the time...LOL! I use to, but haven't in a long while. Dagnappit, I"m sorry to hear about the 25lb return. But, you did it so you can do it again. I see no harm in getting back on the wagon. Please go slowly. 5 minutes at a time w/out resistance. Get your legs use to moving around like that again. Increase a minute at a time or something.
1906433 tn?1321844691 I would like to get back into exercising more, however I'm concerned with how my cranium will handle it, because it's still healing from having a tumor removed in 08/11. I do walk, but I did more before the tumor was diagnosed. My neurosurgeon doesn't address anything that he doesn't seem to think is his field. My chiropractor says walk, walk, walk. Which is ok, but with the weather getting colder, I can't tolerate outside much.
Avatar m tn Forgot to ask, at 178 are you doing weights or are you on an elliptical, treadmill or a stationary bike or other aerobic activity?
Avatar f tn Same here, elliptical, bike and treadmill. Currently, in my last semester I am too tired but 1st-2nd trimester I continued to go the gym a lot (doesn't really show right now lol!
Avatar f tn Exercising was my life before i got pregnant now when i go to the gym my friends always don't do this don't do that I keep telling then I can walk the treadmill, swim, lift light weights,do squats ,and the bike they are so over protective I go without them n they still find me any other mommies still exercising and if so what are you doing?
