Avatar f tn I have short term memory and have had it most of my life, I cant work and i feel very ashamed because i cant remember directions or a number ive been told just after ive been told them. Avatar m tn are there any products on the market that can help short term memory loss that are safe and work as well as they claim?
Avatar m tn hey guys, I was diagnosed with short term memory back in high school...teachers were made aware of this issue & I was given extra time to take tests/study. A few years have passed since then, but I find that I seem to be forgetting things quicker than I used to. For instance, I couldnt even remember the name of a movie I saw with my friend two days ago or our conversation....sometimes conversations hours after they have occurred. is there anythinng I can do to help improve my memory???
Avatar m tn I have a severe difficulty staying focused. To the point where I can be having a conversation with somebody and the minute they turn around, I forget everything. I am afraid it is affecting my schooling as well. I can't remember much. Its like I have no short-term memory. what would you suggest I do? What type of medication can help me stay alert?
1260255 tn?1288654564 s 80 and has so little short-term memory that she can no longer make decisions, read anything more than a short joke, remember what city her children live in, remember that she asked a question 30 seconds ago, etc. They say it's not Alzheimer's but don't know the cause. It's rather shocking and scary to see how short-term memory deficits can make a person so dependent and disabled (not to mention the awful effect on personal relationships).
1763947 tn?1334055319 Hi, I was wondering if any one else has experienced problems with short term memory? Mine is getting worse by the day and I am really worried. My friend called me one night and the next day when we spoke, I didn't remember ever talking to her the night before. This type of thing is happening more and more. My move was delayed until the end of the month which means I am delayed in seeing my new LLMD. Would love to hear if this is something many people experience?
11079760 tn?1483386130 The reason why i made the choice to keep re-reading the same book over and over when my short term memory went, the reason why i practiced naming things for hours each day when i lost nouns etc, is that i will never be able to trust cognitive abnormalities will just come back or develop on there own or accept there is nothing I can do, no guarantees of course but to do nothing changes nothing!
Avatar n tn i am a 29 yearold malei was borm with Short term memory loss its really hard to learn anything, i get so uninterested so far into learning whatever it may be, its hard for me to find a job but the one i had for2 years in construction it was mainly me and my boss going to his rentals repairing them but when he needed me to get a tool or something from his truck id go get it and by the time i got to the tool bag in the truck i totally forgot what i even came out there for so i had to stand there
Avatar f tn Ambien absolutely can cause memory loss, more commonly short-term issues, but also some people have reported problems with their long term memory as well. The good news is...if other causes have been ruled out, and Ambien seems to be the culprit, the memory issues will resolve most times after the Ambien is safely tapered.
Avatar n tn He has been hospitalized twice for visual and auditory hallucinations. Since then, he has lost a large percentage of his short term memory. The psychiatrist feels this is part of the psychosis. I would like to know if this will last for weeks, months, years??? He is so miserable with this and it's causing the anxiety to go up yet another level. He went to see a psychologist yesterday for an hour session and an hour afterwords, he could remember nothing. Not one word.
645800 tn?1466860955 Hey Dennis, I think your putting together two very different issues, i'm pretty sure they are both basically related to 'working memory' deficits but word recall is stored in our long term working memory bank and forgetting where you put something, would be stored in our short term working memory bank.
1823499 tn?1370090289 so it is not all memory, it is short term or recall at the moment...if I am being clear...lol...again I find when stressed it is more difficult to do, or say in a room that is over stimulating, too much noise, and activity going on, in a convo I will find it hard to retrieve the words I want....in a diff setting, I may not have the issue at all.... Ne one else notice this?
Avatar n tn Is there anything I can take (vitamins, etc) to help improve my concentration and memory where I would start to see results gradually or within a short period of time (month or two)?
Avatar n tn Every appointment, assignment, birthday, phone numbers of friends and relatives, birthdays, past events etc. Slowly over time I seem to be losing this. It seems to be something with my short term memory. I don't remember things I say or conversations I have. I can forget things as soon as they happen. I have trouble remembering birthdays and phone numbers. I know my "really good" memory is still in there and it works randomly.
Avatar n tn Its like a brief lapse in my short term memory. Having to consciously try to remember the previous events and there significance in my life is very unsettling. The second symptom is that live events don't fully register with my brain. Life feels much more like a movie than reality, and I have almost zero sense of self. I will be in a place and every so often it will occur to me that the event is actually taking place.
5986700 tn?1380791380 I have a terrible short-term memory. I never misused my medications but they had me on nearly every narcotic: Fentanyl, morphine, oxycdone, OxyContin, and more (except methadone,) Neurontin, Ativan, Ambien and others I can't recall. Neurontin caused me to sound drunk, even at low doses. I also had a ton of procedures. I always had a fabulous memory and with my friends from elementary school, I was always the one they'd ask if they bumped into someone or who was in who's class.
Avatar m tn Oke so 1.5 years ago I got a very tiny piece of minth stuck in my throat. Whatever I've been trying I couldn't cought it out. I still have that feeling on the same spot now about 10 cm below the adams apple.

1339419 tn?1275966042 My short term memory is not 100% as it is, although it is not as bad as my long term memory, and when my blood pressure is really high ( 160/100+ ) I seem to have short term memory loss that increases with the increasing blood pressure numbers. Is this a direct side effect of high blood pressure, others with hypertension having suggested it effects their short term memory, or is it confined only to myself because of my memory problems?
Avatar n tn 10 days to 1 month-- NO head-aches but some confusion, short term memory loss and 10 episodes a day in which I shout or talk to people not realizing with my conscious mind that I had been doing that(15-20 secs each) Sometimes I walk alone and keep walking even if the destination arrived(can I call these black-outs ?).2nd month--no symptoms except a li'l short term memory loss .since last month---occipetal head aches for 10-15 days and short term memory loss.
Avatar m tn My short term memory has gotten really bad. I even notice my coworker and friends and family have notice. If I don't write down a pass word I will forget . 1838299 tn?1403492543 I was treated with INF - injections 3 x wk - and a side effect of that - taken from their literature was - you guessed it - short term memory loss! So I went from total recall to not being sure of anything on 2 accts. the INF STMLoss seems to be permanent, but as I treat - will take 45th dose this a.m., I am seeing improvement, which my husband verifies - he is seeing the improvement also.
Avatar f tn My husband had a very large Pineal Meningioma Tumor removed 1-7-11. He has no short term memory. I believe in miracles but medically I feel/know his memory won't every come back. This is a rare situation as Pineal Meningioma Tumors are rare. The tumor was right in the middle of his head above the brain stem. He also had to have a VP shunt. His quality of life is so sad because he doesn't make new memories and has lost so much memory that he once had.
10169340 tn?1415846161 I have posted here before and never thought of to ask, I have CM1 and CCI ( still waiting on insurance to approve surgery) but have had in the past year really bad short term memory loss as well as the dizziness...does anyone else have this? I have been to several doctors since August a headace specialist and a NS ..They say it is not related to the Chiari...but could not tell me what it is from...and honestly the 2 of them could not get me out of their office fast enough.
Avatar f tn I've been experiencing some really irritating short-term memory loss problems (for myself as well as other people). I am 35, female and trying to figure out why and how I can improve this. Ther are a few things I have considered...I was in an auto accident last year. I was t-boned and the driver side airbag went off and pretty much saved my life.
