Avatar f tn My husband had a very large Pineal Meningioma Tumor removed 1-7-11. He has no short term memory. I believe in miracles but medically I feel/know his memory won't every come back. This is a rare situation as Pineal Meningioma Tumors are rare. The tumor was right in the middle of his head above the brain stem. He also had to have a VP shunt. His quality of life is so sad because he doesn't make new memories and has lost so much memory that he once had.
Avatar m tn are there any products on the market that can help short term memory loss that are safe and work as well as they claim?
Avatar m tn hey guys, I was diagnosed with short term memory back in high school...teachers were made aware of this issue & I was given extra time to take tests/study. A few years have passed since then, but I find that I seem to be forgetting things quicker than I used to. For instance, I couldnt even remember the name of a movie I saw with my friend two days ago or our conversation....sometimes conversations hours after they have occurred. is there anythinng I can do to help improve my memory???
Avatar m tn I have a severe difficulty staying focused. To the point where I can be having a conversation with somebody and the minute they turn around, I forget everything. 1339419 tn?1275966042 As we age, we all suffer short term memory problems and cognitive abilities, but to a different degree in different people. In an issue of Neuropsychology, which is published by the American Psychological Association (APA) research showed that people with high blood pressure obtain these ageing symptoms earlier than those with normal pressure and to a higher degree.
1763947 tn?1334055319 Hi, I was wondering if any one else has experienced problems with short term memory? Mine is getting worse by the day and I am really worried. My friend called me one night and the next day when we spoke, I didn't remember ever talking to her the night before. This type of thing is happening more and more. My move was delayed until the end of the month which means I am delayed in seeing my new LLMD. Would love to hear if this is something many people experience?
Avatar m tn It is the part of the nervous system that organizes and processes information in the brain. If someone asks you a question for example------ the brain takes in the words. It then processes them. It then organizes the thought. It then organizes the thought for the answer. It gets the "plan" together and it then sends the message back out to the motor muscles (mouth) to answer.
Avatar m tn in comparisson to short termmemory loss and how to overcome short term memory loss without using a pill but with FAITH IN INDEPENDANCE and organizing the electrical synapses that our brains use most frequently/ rely on the most frequently.... you might need to forget some of your most valuable memories to be able to regain your short term memory... Thats how computers work... when my computer starts running out of memory it gets a case of short term memory loss on a monthly basis!
Avatar n tn which I set on my camera, and remembered that I took the photographs. This is but one example. In addition to regaining my short term memory, other improvements noted are better quality of sleep, and I fall to sleep within a few minutes each night w/o any difficulty.

I am 35, female and trying to figure out why and how I can improve this. Ther are a few things I have considered...I was in an auto accident last year. I was t-boned and the driver side airbag went off and pretty much saved my life.

Avatar n tn Hi, Thank you very much for your question; although it is quite difficult for me to give you a precise diagnosis here without being able to examine you, though I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern. You need a proper assessment and investigation here since there can be many causes for memory loss & concentration impairment.
Avatar m tn Although it may not be memory, it is the brain in general. For me, it is the absolute inability to focus on one task. A lot of the veterans here will say it takes time, but it will happen. They just reassured me to take baby steps, and only get done what you absolutely have to for the first month or two and steadily add more tasks as you feel comfortable. I'm at day 6ish of one of my millionith relapses.
Avatar f tn Hello, Sarah. My husband (age 57) had a hemorrhagic stroke last year in July. The stroke mainly struck his eyesight. He now has double vision. His short term memory was affected but it has gotten a lot better. It is still very early in your moms recovery. I would say the short term memory will get better, but, how much is anyones guess. My husbands doctors never once said anything about Alzheimers. Find out what areas of your moms brain was hit.
Avatar m tn I have been off these meds fro three weeks, severe mania anxiety, loss or disconnect of short term memory. Do not feel safe in public. WHAT TO DO ?
Avatar f tn I have short term memory and have had it most of my life, I cant work and i feel very ashamed because i cant remember directions or a number ive been told just after ive been told them. I was abused as a child, sexually, mentally and physically as a child. I have depression and have panic disorder. Would that have somthing to do with my memory beeing so bad?
Avatar f tn Certain types of epilepsies and seizures and sleep disturbances too cause short term memory loss along with tiredness or fatigue. Chronic infections too are known to precipitate memory loss. For this you can try yoga and meditation. Disorders of the hypothalamus, chronic fatigue syndrome and psychiatric disorders like depression too cause similar symptoms. To treat memory loss, you have to find the cause first.
500374 tn?1210071413 I had what is believed a TIA in 2004 that left me with 80% short term memory loss and the other symptoms you mentioned. A couple of eye clots in 2005-6 also. The memory loss has improved some since 2004 with the Aricept medication and cognitive therapy, I can now add and do some subtraction. However, the multi-tasking has been getting worse with time. I have been having more mini-strokes lately so that may account for the symptoms getting worse and more loss of eyesight.
Avatar n tn i am a 28yr old female. I do have IC. I have been having short term memory loss. I do not use any drugs nor have i had an head trauma nor do I take any medications. What might be causing this memory problem? The memory issue is something new. I cant even remember things that happened yesterday or even last week. I can remember things that are of major importance but nothing minor. I also have been having migraines yet I have dealt with migraines now for about 9 yrs. What could this be?
Avatar n tn Its like a brief lapse in my short term memory. Having to consciously try to remember the previous events and there significance in my life is very unsettling. The second symptom is that live events don't fully register with my brain. Life feels much more like a movie than reality, and I have almost zero sense of self. I will be in a place and every so often it will occur to me that the event is actually taking place.
Avatar n tn I think over the past several months I have noticed some short term memory issues, but not many. She will tell me something she recently told me. Perhaps not exactly the same or with the same details, but I have noticed this a few times in the past serveral months. I have actually tested her in my own way a few times. I will tell her something, and see if the following week she would remember it or I mention some event which should trigger her to bring up what I told her.
10169340 tn?1415846161 I have posted here before and never thought of to ask, I have CM1 and CCI ( still waiting on insurance to approve surgery) but have had in the past year really bad short term memory loss as well as the dizziness...does anyone else have this? I have been to several doctors since August a headace specialist and a NS ..They say it is not related to the Chiari...but could not tell me what it is from...and honestly the 2 of them could not get me out of their office fast enough.
Avatar n tn he came around and then just laid there for the next three weeks lifeless and mute.he is now walking and talking but his short term memory has been very deeply affected, also his long term memory is bad,he does not seem to recall many events from the past and even though we are repetively repeating to him that he is in hospital he keeps asking where he is and saying there is nothing wrong with him.
Avatar n tn Hi, When you have had a brain aneurysm removed and 10 years later the shunt fell of in my head the dr says it's not serious. But for the last 6 days my memory has been really bad. A friend came up and i was telling him all about my motorcycle then he went to check on the kids and i retold the story and i don't remember saying it the first time at all.. I knew short term memory would happen, but this was much worse than that.

Avatar n tn It can represent some problem with the amygdla or parahippocampus in the brain. Amygdala controls present thoughts and short term memory. The parahippocampal controls past thoughts or long term memory. Other possibility is of ADHD(attention deficit hyperactive disorder). It typically presents itself during childhood, and is characterized by a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity, as well as forgetfulness, poor impulse control or impulsivity, and distractibility.
