s first suggestion was that I discontinue taking Ambien immediately; as it was causing my short term memory loss, upon further research on the subject, I learned that I am not alone. And that there are dozens, if not hundreds of others, and articles; which are written on the subject, and the association, or side effect of short term memory loss, while using, and apparently even after discontinuing Ambien CR 12.5 tablets!

t wake up in her usual time, lately she woke up and when I talked with her she was unable to answer me properly, she was having difficulties in short term memory, she was unable to tell me whether it is morning or night, I asked her what time is it she said its night, I asked then why there's sunlight if it is night then she get confused and said i dont know may be its evening.
I have short term memory and have had it most of my life, I cant work and i feel very ashamed because i cant remember directions or a number ive been told just after ive been told them. hey guys, I was diagnosed with short term memory back in high school...teachers were made aware of this issue & I was given extra time to take tests/study. A few years have passed since then, but I find that I seem to be forgetting things quicker than I used to. For instance, I couldnt even remember the name of a movie I saw with my friend two days ago or our conversation....sometimes conversations hours after they have occurred. is there anythinng I can do to help improve my memory???
Certain types of epilepsies and seizures and sleep disturbances too cause short term memory loss along with tiredness or fatigue. Chronic infections too are known to precipitate memory loss. For this you can try yoga and meditation. Disorders of the hypothalamus, chronic fatigue syndrome and
psychiatric disorders like depression too cause similar symptoms.
To treat memory loss, you have to find the cause first.
ve taken approx 5mg nightly and have noticed a substantial improvement in my short term memory. I have also recently had my visual fields mapped and there has been notable improvements in areas of vision. I can only assume that the change has been a result of the use of the ambien, but I am concerned about continued use of the drug. MY GP is comfortable with my continued use, given the improvements noted. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
My husband had a very large Pineal Meningioma Tumor removed 1-7-11. He has no short term memory. I believe in miracles but medically I feel/know his memory won't every come back. This is a rare situation as Pineal Meningioma Tumors are rare. The tumor was right in the middle of his head above the brain stem. He also had to have a VP shunt. His quality of life is so sad because he doesn't make new memories and has lost so much memory that he once had.

I'm 36, healthy, ideal weight and I find that my short term memory is depleting at a rapid rate. What can I do or take to help with this....I have tried the B12 liquid but I notice no change. This problem is getting really embarrassing at the point I must write everything down or I will forget.

Smoke weed or other drugs? Possibly.
Forgetting can be due to lack of concentration and not taking things in.
There are heaps of reasons why people forget things (stress, preoccupation, etc).
I would lay off the smoking and see if you notice an improvement. Smoking kills too!

Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear about your memory problems.
In my opinion it's not uncommon to have some memory issues while you are on an opiate, especially if it's an acute problem or short term high doses of opiate therapy. Usually these clear up soon after discharge or discontinuation of the medication. It's not usual to have a long term memory problem following short term opiate therapy. However six days is not a terribly long time.
