Avatar n tn He has been hospitalized twice for visual and auditory hallucinations. Since then, he has lost a large percentage of his short term memory. The psychiatrist feels this is part of the psychosis. I would like to know if this will last for weeks, months, years??? He is so miserable with this and it's causing the anxiety to go up yet another level. He went to see a psychologist yesterday for an hour session and an hour afterwords, he could remember nothing. Not one word.
577118 tn?1233250750 t recall exactly when, I started having seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy. I have suffered from what I consider serious short-term memory loss. I have actually lost chunks of time. Avatar n tn 5 mm larger, (Ophthalmic exam was normal) but it has been 10 weeks and she still has short-term memory problems. Her memory is getting better. At first she couldn't remember going to work the day before or anything she had studied for a test, but now she just can't remember things people say to her, appointments she makes, etc. As an example, we can remind her repeatedly of an upcoming event and then on the day of the event, she won't remember anything about the event.

Avatar f tn Since then I had a small issue with short term memory but over the last 6 months or so it has gotten worse. The seizure was about ten years ago and I'm now 37 years old. No drugs, I don't drink or smoke, a great job helping combat veterans readjust to civilian life for the government (VA), and a BS in Finance. But, this short term memory loss worries me. It just about leveled off and is consistent. I can't remember what I was doing a couple minutes ago if it was a small thing.

1339419 tn?1275966042 My short term memory is not 100% as it is, although it is not as bad as my long term memory, and when my blood pressure is really high ( 160/100+ ) I seem to have short term memory loss that increases with the increasing blood pressure numbers. Is this a direct side effect of high blood pressure, others with hypertension having suggested it effects their short term memory, or is it confined only to myself because of my memory problems?
Avatar f tn My husband had a very large Pineal Meningioma Tumor removed 1-7-11. He has no short term memory. I believe in miracles but medically I feel/know his memory won't every come back. This is a rare situation as Pineal Meningioma Tumors are rare. The tumor was right in the middle of his head above the brain stem. He also had to have a VP shunt. His quality of life is so sad because he doesn't make new memories and has lost so much memory that he once had.

Avatar f tn The symptoms felt by the patient include abnormal sensations like a feeling of déjà vu, loss of short term memory or amnesia. Other sensations could be abnormal taste sensations, abnormal sounds and smell, feelings of fear, nervousness and anger. These symptoms last for few minutes to an hr. I would suggest you to see a neurologist as early as possible.
Avatar n tn Most people lose memories just before the incident of concussion or loss of consciousness because the event that results in them losing consciousness - the punch to the head etc - interrupts how the brain stores memories. The brain needs to pay attention to something, hold it in short term memory, link it to meaningful past experiences and then store it in long term memory to lay down a memory.
