Avatar m tn are there any products on the market that can help short term memory loss that are safe and work as well as they claim?
Avatar f tn Beatrice, I had a brain tumor removed back in 99 and in 01. My short term memory is bad to say the least. I have drove to doctors appointments and didn't even know why I was there. It is now at the point where my doctor's call my wife and tell her everything because I will not remember. His short term memory might never get better but if he keeps repeating things enough it might make to into the section of the brain that controls long term memorys.

For instance, I couldnt even remember the name of a movie I saw with my friend two days ago or our conversation....sometimes conversations hours after they have occurred. is there anythinng I can do to help improve my memory???

Avatar f tn Certain types of epilepsies and seizures and sleep disturbances too cause short term memory loss along with tiredness or fatigue. Chronic infections too are known to precipitate memory loss. For this you can try yoga and meditation. Disorders of the hypothalamus, chronic fatigue syndrome and psychiatric disorders like depression too cause similar symptoms. To treat memory loss, you have to find the cause first.

1339419 tn?1275966042 My short term memory is not 100% as it is, although it is not as bad as my long term memory, and when my blood pressure is really high ( 160/100+ ) I seem to have short term memory loss that increases with the increasing blood pressure numbers. Is this a direct side effect of high blood pressure, others with hypertension having suggested it effects their short term memory, or is it confined only to myself because of my memory problems?
Avatar n tn anyway, I have been on several drugs for instance Topamax, Inderal, Lyrica, Xanax at length .Presently, due to some unresolved short-term memory issues I am having some difficulty memorizing, concentrating, and focusing on a required project at my job. 1763947 tn?1334055319 Hi, I was wondering if any one else has experienced problems with short term memory? Mine is getting worse by the day and I am really worried. My friend called me one night and the next day when we spoke, I didn't remember ever talking to her the night before. This type of thing is happening more and more. My move was delayed until the end of the month which means I am delayed in seeing my new LLMD. Would love to hear if this is something many people experience?
Avatar f tn Ambien absolutely can cause memory loss, more commonly short-term issues, but also some people have reported problems with their long term memory as well. The good news is...if other causes have been ruled out, and Ambien seems to be the culprit, the memory issues will resolve most times after the Ambien is safely tapered.

But the short term memory issue that is bothering you is a very real Chiari-related symptom. I am not knowledgeable about the anatomical explanation behind this memory loss. What I do know - as Selma says - a true Chiari specialist will know the validity of your symptoms - and give you the office time that you deserve.
