Avatar m tn It would start hurting out of nowhere, sharp pain near top right of my head, tender to the touch and my neck started hurting. Started having daily migraines again so went to my chiropractor. She worked on my cervical spine and neck. The pain in head and neck went away. So did the daily migraines.

Avatar m tn For over 1 week, I have had reoccurring sharp pain in the left side of my head. It comes, on average, about every hour or almost every time I turn my head to the right. The Pain is mostley above my left ear and last anywhere from 1 minute to 15 minutes. The pain is so intense, I can only hold my head and close my eyes when it hits. I've seen my doctor and had an MRI done which came back negative. I can't work or do anything but sit around waiting for the next episode. I am miserable.
Avatar n tn I am 15 and ever since I was 9 something weird began happening to me. At times If I sneeze, pick up a heavy object, turn my head moderately fast, or even just looking to the side, and some other things, I get this horrible sharp pain in the back left of my head. Im fairly sure it's always in about the same spot. The pain is worst right away then slowly dulls away and can take up to 20 seconds till its gone.
Avatar n tn i have been having sharp pains in the back middle part of my head it had been going on for a few days should i be cocerned
Avatar n tn This type of headache may cause pain on the head and face as referred pain from the neck. This may also be a headache secondary to an underlying musculoskeletal or arthritic pain. Do you have other associated symptoms like eye redness or tearing and nasal discharge? For how long do the headaches last? How would you describe th headcahes? Are they throbbing, stabbing or sharp?
Avatar n tn I have sharp, piercing pain on the right side of my head. The pain spreads down into my neck. My right eye has become red, watery, and puffy, my eyelid seems to droop. I have a cluster of three lymph nodes that are swollen in my neck just below my right ear. This has lasted about three weeks….In need of relief any idea what this may be???
670954 tn?1225745204 The blood work came back normal and I was told that it may just be a habit. Today the neck pain is accompanied with sporadic quick sharp pains in my temples and severe headaches after naps that rather quickly subside. I also occasionally wake in the middle of the night in a panic from extreme pain in my head and neck that goes away after about 5 minutes. I can't live with this anymore.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. Generally pain in the back portion of the head and neck pain originate from the neck problems due to irritation in the cervical (neck) spine since the nerves that supply the back of the head start in the upper cervical spine. Mostly, this kind of head pain aggravates after turning head and typically occurs in patients with previous neck injuries and in patients with marked arthritis of the upper cervical spine.

Avatar m tn hi there was in work today and was bent over scredin concrete and stud up and got a sharp pain in my forehead and got light headed its been 4 or 5 hours and still hav a small pain in head and neck just a bit worried as first time it has happened..
Avatar m tn I suffer from chronic migraines and I have learned to deal with them but throughout the last 4 years I have suffered from random very sharp and painful pains in my head. They affect my balance, vision and on occasion my speech. I have noticed that the position of my head and neck may be connected to the onset of these pains. Can someone please give me some suggestions as to whats going on????
Avatar n tn I think the first thing you should do is get this checked out by your doctor and see what he thinks... he might be able to give you an answer just by your description of what is going on. He might also need to order an MRI, but this might not be needed, you'll find out at the appointment. The sharp quick headaches that go away in seconds sound like "ice-pick" headaches... which are usually totally harmless headaches that you can't really do anything about...
Avatar m tn Hello, I recently got pain in the left hand side of my head around my eye, a few minutes ago i had sharp pain in the left side of my neck, my eye sight is a little blurred in the left eye. Could anyone tell me what it could possibly be? can explain in more detail if needed.
Avatar f tn I came here looking for information about a sharp pain that I had in back of my head tonight. I don't know if I have ever had this before, but if I have, it wasn't recently. The pain started at the back of my head and seemed to travel in a line towards the right side of my face, stopping just behind my year. It came and went for about 2 minutes. I do have lots of neck problems, including a herniated disc at C5 and C6. The pain didn't feel like it was inside my head.
Avatar f tn precipitation of head pain by neck movement or awkward neck positions, head pain when external pressure is applied to the neck or occipital region (as it sounds like is the case in you), restricted range of motion of the neck, and neck, shoulder and arm pain. Treatment for cervicogenic headache includes physical therapy, medications including anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs such as ibuprofen), muscle relaxants, behavioral therapy, and other modalities.
Avatar m tn I am a 20 year old female. I get a pain in my head on the right side in one particular spot when I get out of bed sometimes, or if I move too fast and the pain will last somewhere around 5 to 30 minutes. It is a sharp pain that comes in a rhythm similar to my heart beat. Also, when I use the bathroom and somewhat "strain" to go number 2, I get a throbbing pain in my neck and lower head.
Avatar f tn I was never checked for syrinx, and my MRI was of head only. I now have 24/7 pain, burning, and needles going on as well as numbness and tingling in arms and fingers. I cant say that this is what your experience is, but would advise you to get it checked out. I also keep a journal of symptoms and possible triggers to see if I notice what makes it worse. Just a thought. Keep us posted, I'm curious what you find out.
Avatar n tn hi there i get neck tension which brings on sharp stabbing pains in bk of head and top of head due to stress related anxiety but see doc if ur worried about this
Avatar m tn The pain is only head and neck. I think it's a pinched nerve in the neck but I have no health insurance and the cost of care is too expensive. I think I'm stuck living with this crippling pain.
Avatar n tn Sometimes I experience numbness in both my head and neck. or a pain that feels like a sharp knife out of nowhere. I feel like I am carrying a heavy object in my head because there is so much pressure that i have been dealing with for over a year now. I am not depressed and don't have a stressful job anymore. I get enough sleep, exercise, stretch regularly, drink lots of water and eat very healthy.
Avatar f tn s gradually moved to other parts of my head, including now with an odd, sharp needlelike pain at the top of my head near the middle, sometimes near that area along with tension in my neck. I've been getting migraines more frequently and have had some gastrointestinal issues too (I'm not sure if this is related or not.) I'm a very anxious and stressed person, and it's affected me before with chest pain.
Avatar f tn s way worse!!! Every time I move my neck it hurts. When I turn it to the side, Its a pretty sharp pain about an 8 out of ten that shoots all the way from the top to bottom. Letting my head lay straight down doesn't really hurt. Turning it in any way or putting it back hurts. Sleeping hurts. And I never rallied how much Swoosh my head to move my bangs until recently, when it started to hurt. I am so tired of this.
Avatar m tn Was there a previous trauma to your head or neck? Pain at the back of head or neck that intensifies on movement can be due to inflammation of the blood vessels of the head or bony changes in the structures of the neck. Anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants may help provide relief. However, if it persists, you may need to have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Ask in your locality for free clinics if insurance is an issue. Take care and do keep us posted.
