Avatar_m_tn Hello all. I'm Kylie. I have currently have a sharp chest pain that I can also feel in my back and up into the underside of the jaw. It does get worse when I cough or breathe in. The sharp pain is pretty frequent and it's been like this for about 3-4 days now. About a month ago I was experiencing shortness of breath so I went to the doctor and she said I had asthma due to allergies (I've always had really bad allergies) and prescribed me an advair inhaler.
Avatar_n_tn My cough is best decribed as a painful dry cough. Sometime, I cough up flegm and its really yellowish in ears hurt sometimes but not always...everytime I swallow, I feel like Im swallowing tiny razors down my throat. I have a swollen lymph node on the ride side of my neck but not on the left...I dont beleive any other parts of my body are swollen (armpits/goin) at this time. I believe that my lypmh node grew in size within the past day.
Avatar_n_tn She is always complaining of her chest hurting, and sometimes she says that she gets realy sharp pains that last from a 1 to 3 minutes. The pain has been there for sometime, I believe for about a month. I'm not sure what to do, she says that the sharp pains are coming even more now. Atleast once a say, and she sometimes gets short of breath.

In the recent freezing temps we have had in UK I have walked and jogged in the park and had no problems". But why do I get pains when I relax in bed or twist or stretch myself? Also when I cough I get the pain in the sternum area.
Avatar_m_tn When I breath or cough I have a sharp pain just above my left breast..Theres even times when I move the pain is there. Avatar_m_tn Just today, i started feeling a sharp pain in my upper chest to my lower throat. It mainly hurts when i breathe, and it also really hurts when i cough. Avatar_n_tn i have been getting sharp pains in my lest side for 3 or 4 month now, i saw cardiologist and he said it was some kind of infection and gave me pain Killer and now i started to have pain on the RIGHT side with dry cough. Avatar_n_tn I'm getting a very sharp pain in my back and by my heart when I breath. I don't have any cough, just this pain even when I move. Could this be a collasped lung?
Avatar_f_tn I have a variety of things going on here. I'll try to keep it as simple as possible. About 4 weeks ago I began to have a dry, unproductive cough that resulted in a dry/sore throat, as well as a hoarse voice. About 3 days into it, the cough became VERY productive. After about 2 full weeks, the coughing become MUCH LESS FREQUENT, but still there. In fact, I STILL have a cough (not NEAR as bad as before....but I still do have to cough).
Avatar_n_tn it sounds like you have a hiatius herna.
Avatar_n_tn Should state that it ranges from sharp pain to burning pain, but always in the same spot. pain doesn't increase/decrease to the touch or pressure (sneezing, coughing has no effect) or stretching the area. Thanks.
Avatar_m_tn I hv pain in chest which is sharp and i fear to breath sometimes which stays max for 1 min. Avatar_n_tn I mentioned the chest pain and fatigue to my doctor a few months ago when I went in for a pesky cough, but she basically brushed me off like I was an inconvience. She told me that I was tired and had pain because of the cough, but I persisted that I had these things way before the cough and felt that they were unrelated. She sent me to get labs to check TSH level and make sure I wasn't anemic and that was the end of that.
Avatar_n_tn I have chest pain that comes and goes for the last 10 years. I also have a very sharp pain on my lower left abdomen. I have hip pain and knee pain and back pain the doctor or ER can't tell me what the cause is. the only thing they say is that I have hypoinflation in my lungs but can't tell me why. thay did a cat scan of my chest and ex-ray and ekg which only showed inflation in my lungs. My lab results were not normal either. can you please help me.
Avatar_n_tn I have a popping in my chest when I cough really hard. I also have a pain in my chest on my left side like where my heart is but not on the other side. The pain is only there when I move weird, like if I'm crunching down or if I swing around quickly or stand really straight. I do smoke but there is no wheezing or blood or pain when I breathe. Could this be lung cancer? I think it's getting worse, what should I do?
Avatar_n_tn About 2 months ago I had an abnormal ekg. I went to the ER two different times with chest pain and had normal ekgs there and my enzymes and Xray was normal. I have weird symptoms like body pain with throbs around my body that either feel like spasms or twitching. I had a normal stress test. have recently had more pains in my chest they are on the left side they are sharp sometimes. I am now worried it could be a heart valve issue. I have a slight cough but not breathing problems.
Avatar_m_tn Pleuritis and Pulmonary embolism are other possibilities causing shortness of breath with chest pain. Another possibility that can explain the pain is pericarditis. However all these conditions cause other symptoms too like fever, cough, breathlessness etc. Hope this helps. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar_f_tn My boyfriend has been having an achy pain in his left chest and breast area for the past two months. It started when he developed a cold with a really bad dry cough. The pain has spread to his left armpit and the middle of the left side of his back. Occasionally he will get a sharp pain for a second or two towards the middle of his chest. He will also get light headed and dizzy when the achy pain gets really strong. He has been to the emergency room 2 times.

Avatar_f_tn I have had a chest cold for six days now but beginning yesterday when I occassionally get that long, drawn out gaggy type of cough, I get a sharp, very painful stinging pain in my upper back almost at the base of my neck. I actually thought for a moment I was being stung by a bee or some other creature. It has continued today but I have been just forcing my...
Avatar_f_tn "CHEST pain"... during my first round of tx in '09, early on I developed chest pain/ pressure/tightness, difficulty breathing, dizziness, weakness and feeling faint. Cardiologist who tested me and found my heart to be normal. My symptoms were brought on by a swing to hyper-throidism which is common when undergoing tx. Dosage of thyroid med was reduced. The hemolytic anemia caused severe shortness of breath. Also anxiety and near panic. My doseages were not reduced.

Avatar_n_tn It is now June and I am still feeling pain in my chest, sometimes when I move the worng way, other times when I am lying still. Some times I am awaken at night by the sharp pain in the side of my chest. Other times when I don't have the pain I feel a sort of hollowness in my chest, which may simply be a feeling that occurs when the pain which i have become used to is not there. Do you recomment returning to my doctor to order more tests, or does this sound like intercostal never pain to you?
Avatar_f_tn I have a major pain in left breast and surrounding area-my doctor said I might have pulled a muscle from coughing (bad smokers cough plus had bronchitis) this pain really hurts-I can not get up from bed without holding my chest and trying to stop the pain should I wait and see if it heals itself?
