Common Questions and Answers about Severe menstrual cramps home remedies

Avatar n tn Menstrual cramps are normal to have and I get severe menstrual cramps on the first day of my period as well. Typically it is just from hormones that causes the cramping, as the surge will cause contractions, making her period painful. Prevention is much better than management for pain. Exercise and eating healthy can help prevent menstrual cramps to a certain point, but won't always get rid of them.
Avatar f tn I get such severe menstrual cramps every month and it's unbearable.. I started this morning and have already taken my prescription pain medication, but it's not working. I'm wearing a heating pad which slightly helps. I do all the "home remedies", though I'm still in pain! What else can I do for pain management?? I have an appointment with my gyno in a week and a half, but today and tomorrow I have the extreme pain and want to do something to stop it now. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn First of all let me say I am deeply sorry for this and I am telling you how sorry I am because I know that people do not really understand what a person with severe menstrual cramps goes through. They see it as "oh...its just your period? well that's a normal part of life" and it is not very nice. I have the same issue as you are outlining and I have had it for years. I am no medical expert so I do not want put any fear in you because each person and their body is different.
7634325 tn?1394333404 I'm 9 weeks pregnant and have severe cramps similar to those of menstrual cramps. Is this normal? We tried to have sex and it was hurting even more during. Please help.
Avatar f tn Pain varies from mild discomfort to severe cramping. It feels similar to menstrual cramps. I was treated a few months ago for constipation. High fibre & lots of water did the trick. But I’ve been having this issue ever since. Wondering what it could be. Thanks in advance!
Avatar n tn I am also experiencing what you are, very severe, excruciating cramps at the time my period was, with little to no bleeding. Ibuprofen and naproxen do not touch the pain and I don't want to go back on the prescription meds I had to take for my cramps before the ablation. Right now I am home from work with a heating pad on my belly and taking crampbark and motherwort, but it's not helping. Would also love suggestions for pain control.
421469 tn?1203452328 I am having severe cramps unlike any AF cramps I have ever experienced? Any suggestions? I am 13 dpo.
776996 tn?1235679451 Within the past year or so I have been dealing with very severe menstrual cramps that have left me crying in pain on the couch for atleast 24 hours (causing me to miss a day of work and or school). I know the day before it is coming, as I suffer from severe back pain and msot often cannot sleep the night before. While it is generally one horrible day that I cannot bear standing, the pain still lingers thereafter.
Avatar n tn m at just about 4 weeks pregnant, but I have been having menstrual like cramps (nothing severe) for several weeks (since most likely conception). Nothing severe, no spotting or back pain. Just don't know if I should be concerned since it has been going on for a while and so early.

Avatar n tn These cramps usually begin earlier in the menstrual cycle and last longer than common menstrual cramps.
Avatar n tn *Severe* cramping isn't normal during pregnancg.. I have horrendous menstrual cramps but I've never cramped at all when I'm pregnant. It would be worth calling your dr and seeing if they want you to come in.
Avatar f tn Baby hopes is right, cramping is normal but severe cramps (worse them menstrual) with or without bleeding is something you need to speak to you doctor about. just to be on the safe side!
Avatar f tn m 40 years old, and judging by my older sisters and mother, I likely have another 11-12 years before menopause. Over the last year or two, my menstrual cramps have gotten much worse. I get chills and shakes, aches in my joints, nausea, headache, and massive cramps. I've tried heating pads, lots of fluids, bed rest, Aleve, and other OTC pain relief. I went to see a new midwife for my last annual about 18 mo ago and forgot to mention it to her, then felt embarrassed to call in about it.

Avatar m tn I am starting to taper off tramadol. I woke up last night with severe legs cramps and restless legs. I was achey all over. So then I took a motrin, and that made my aches feel better , but messed up my stomache worse. I only took 1 or 2 50 mg of tramadol a day for 11 months, so I am so suprised at how bad I feel. Can anyone tell me what are good home remedies of medicine to help this out? for example is imodium ad good for the diareeha? Please, I am desperate.
Avatar f tn The past few days I have had consistent back pain and menstrual like cramps. I know those are probably braxton hicks. Last night while sleeping I got severe contractions that took my breath away for about an hour and a half then they stopped. Today I have had an upset stomach and again the consistent back pain and menstrual like cramps. About 2 hours ago I got attacked with the severe contractions again.
Avatar n tn Hi, There's a long list of issues that can cause abdominal cramps without the presence of a menstrual period, for example: a late or irregular period, pregnancy, stress, indigestion or digestive disorders, an illness, or endometriosis, etc...Menstrual cramps are caused by the uterus contracting when it expels it's lining. For many women cramps can happen 3 to 5 days before a period begins, and also during a period.
Avatar f tn I am almost 5 weeks pregnant. I have been having cramps that feel like menstrual cramps. I don't have any spotting or anything but it feels like menstrual cramps.. should I be worried? I'm 18 and this is my first pregnancy.
5431850 tn?1381682097 All day today I've had lower back pain and menstrual like cramps that are constant! I'm not sure what to think...is this braxton hicks or preterm labor? Or maybe just general pain or my uterus growing?
Avatar f tn Hi I am 5 weeks pregnant and have been having cramps a week and a half now. They haven't been too bad, just feels like my normal menstrual cramps, but last night I woke up with cramps that lasted for about 10-15 minutes and they were so bad I couldn't walk, I felt like I was going to throw up and sweating. I managed to get myself in to the tub and let the shower spay me. There is no blood. But I am scared there might be something wrong. Is this normal?
