Avatar f tn I am experiencing severe stomach pain like someone is sticking a knife into my stomach. I get really gassy and have heartburn or my chest hurts. My mom seems to think it because I am not drinking enough water and I am dehydrated. I just dont think she is right because I am drinking water. The pain hurts so bad lately that it has made me stop running when Im trying to get ready for my season/tryouts coming up in a week.
Avatar n tn Im 37 weeks as of 2 hours ago. I woke up coz of heartburn then ended up going to the toilet. As soon as I sat down I had crazy pains all across my lower stomach and deep into my vagina. What do you think this could be? Sorry for tmi.
Avatar m tn Everyday I have horrible heartburn I wake up everymorning feeling sick to my stomach and I have frequent bowel movements with soft shapless stools and when I wipe there is blood on the toilet paper this has been going on for about 7 to 12 months...
Avatar f tn im going in for antireflux surgery next month and have suffered with severe heartburn for 6 yrs, my question is can it cause arm and hand pressure/pain as well as head pressure?
Avatar n tn However, I just wanted to know what severe heartburn can feel like. And how do I know if my symptoms are severe heartburn and not something like a heart attack? I never have any major pains in my chest, usually discomfort and burning pains. My heart also feels like it is going to beat right out of my chest and it occasionally flutters, the latter happens when I am lying down. I also get a weird metallic taste in my mouth whenever the symptoms really flair up.
Avatar f tn this is the main symptom. This is a burning feeling which rises from the upper tummy (abdomen) or lower chest up towards the neck. (It is confusing as it has nothing to do with the heart!) Other common symptoms: these include pain in the upper abdomen and chest, feeling sick, an acid taste in the mouth, bloating, belching, indigestion (dyspepsia), and a burning pain when you swallow hot drinks. Like heartburn, these symptoms tend to come and go, and tend to be worse after a meal.
1001742 tn?1252685847 So I still get back pain but the more severe symptoms are the chronic fatigue with insomia and then the stomach pain. Every time I eat something, my stomach feels like theres a brick in it. I tried taking Tums but it doesn't work. Has anyone else dealt with or has been through the same thing?
Avatar f tn s start with Acid reflux - Acid reflux is when stomach acid splashes up from the stomach into the esophagus. The look what is GERD- (gastroesophageal reflux disease) is severe or chronic acid reflux that can lead to complications, such as cancer. Then ask questions like- Have I..... .... treating with over-the-counter medicines for more than 2 weeks?Have I increased the dosage to help symptoms? .....have the patterns or symptoms changed? .....do I have it when I wake up ? ....
554174 tn?1284031102 works similar to Tums, or rolaids but also helps your stomach break down food and decrease acid. This works, but if heartburn is really bad, sometimes I have to take rolaids. During one of my pregnancies, she put me on a daily pill....I think it was Zantac or something....This was only because I had it sooooo bad, that it hurt to eat or drink anything because my asophagus (SP?) felt as though it was raw from acid=( Good luck!
736293 tn?1316517842 When they first started i thought it was heartburn b/c it is at the top of my stomach. I have never had severe heartburn so i am not sure how much pain it can really cause. I have taken tums but it isn't helping. I tried to lay down to take a nap but the pain is too bad for me to fall asleep. Anytime there is any pressure on my stomach i get sharp pains starting at the top of my stomach and works its way throughout.
1331397 tn?1294039895 t have so many head symptoms, the breathing problem will probably calm down. The heartburn is probably from the drainage of your sinuses down into your stomach. You may not even notice draining down the back of your throat, but it is probably there! Good luck!
Avatar m tn Just to add, acid reflux is rarely due to high stomach acid. My mother is free of severe GERD and severe LPR taking betaine HCL with pepsin supplements (increases stomach acid) and digestive enzyme supplements (helps with digestion as well).
2120637 tn?1335999377 Hi everyone. I quit smoking just over one month ago. I've been wanting to quit for several years now but finally took advantage of a situation I was in and carried on with it. It all started with some sort of stomach virus. Experienced the usual not so fun and pretty gross stuff that go along with any stomach flu. During these couple of days, I couldn't eat and the throught of smoking or drinking coffee totally repulsed me.
Avatar n tn Hi everyone I have a quick question. I just got over the flu I was sick for about 4 days I went to the doctor yesterday and he said I should be fine. But I'm not fine. Everytime I try to eat anything whether it's something soft like yogurt or something hard like regular food I end up getting severe pains in my stomach and it's followed by severe heartburn. Sometimes it feels like the food is stuck at the point where my esophigus meets my stomach.
Avatar m tn Early this morning around 3:30 a.m., I got relatively severe heartburn (or so I think it was) that woke me up and kept me up for the rest of the morning. I finally got my hands on some Prilosec at 1 p.m. today but it's now 7 p.m. and I still have burning pain in my chest that comes and goes (usually lasts only a few minutes).
Avatar n tn s case almost fatal. My mother suffered with severe GERD and severe LPR. She now takes digestive enzyme supplements (better digestion) and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements (increases stomach acid) and no longer suffers these conditions. She also has a hiatus hernia too but these supplements are great. "How your antacid drug is making you sick (Part A)" by Chris Kresser... "Most people have no idea how many vital roles stomach acid plays in our bodies.
Avatar n tn 20th and they found no h pylori but did find a small hiatal hernia, can this be causing the severe bloating too or do you think it sounds more like the stomach not emptying properly? what is the best way to eat and handle food not emptying properly?
Avatar m tn This can be due to gastritis or hyperacidity or heartburn. Pepto-Bismol is an over-the-counter drug used for treatment of nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhoea, and other temporary discomforts of the stomach and gastrointestinal tract. Ginger ale is often used as a home remedy to alleviate indigestion or motion sickness. Hence you can take them and once you feel slightly better you can get antacids and anti-emetics form the pharmacy. Hope this helps.
198627 tn?1203054007 A couple months ago I thought I was just having severe heartburn, but it turned out to be 2 duodenal ulcers and it was a good thing I went to the er because they admitted me for 5 days. Better to be safe than sorry. Of course, it could be a heart attack as well, but you're pretty young for that. Tagamet or Cimetidine are 2 over the counter meds that work well for heartburn. Only you know how much pain your in. If you can't stand it, get to the ER.
Avatar f tn Heartburn, even if it is severe, is normal for pregnancy. I feel your pain and am so sorry you are having to deal with it :( Talk to your doctor. They can prescribe you medication for it. You can use tums, but that will make you super constipated it you take them too often. Nobody wants that... Good luck! Hope it gets better for you. Getting a prescription was a lifesaver for me.
