It would be unusual to have acne vulgaris solely on the arms. I think you may have been mis-diagnosed and subsequently given the wrong type of ointment. See a doctor where you live now for re-evaluation and advice.

Hi, This could be keratosis pilaris, a very common condition in which there are numerous rough follicular spots, which may be skin coloured, red or brown on the outer aspect of the upper arms. It is most prevalent during the teenage years and persist into adult life. It has a tendency to be more severe during the winter months or other times of low humidity when skin dries out. This is genetic in origin and no cure is available.

Occasionally they swell into a sort of acne but if popped they release a dark red/ black substance, possibly congealed blood. Marks on both arms, but more severe on the right arm. I have tried several acne creams but none make them go away as they seem to be below the surface. Any idea what they are?

t shave in the area. I have the same thing mostly on outside of thighs and tiny on outside of arms. (My baby is 7 mos old. I am still nursing.) I say the dermatologist and she was no help. I saw my dermatologist and she said it was from allergy, but I was taking antihistaminic drugs (Aerius), which she prescribed me, for 7 days and no change. I am 15 and have terrible acne on my back. The weird thing is, my back is the only place I get it. I would not be concerned but it is very painful to lay down on and the blemishes are huge and swollen. Does anyone have a remedy or answer that will help this terrible rash dissapear?

I use an oil free non comedogenic foundation, every morning and night I've been taking Doxycycline for somewhere around 6 months now. I've also been using a topical Adapalene 0.1% Cream for about the same amount of time. I've noticed no improvement in my acne. Keeps appearing everywhere, and I've moved to having to add the Adapalene cream on my arms as well. I've only noticed an improvement on my arms. And now I have this boil on my chin. Great.

I had a ischemic stroke 2 years ago at the age of 22 caused by birth control. Almost immediately after the fact, my skin erupted in severe acne covering almost every inch of my face. I went on accutane to try and remedy the issue but even that only cause temporary relief. I have at this point, been on almost every acne medication possible but nothing has helped.
