Serzone withdrawal

Common Questions and Answers about Serzone withdrawal

serzone

1115705 tn?1258815104 She wants me off any sort of benzo except for possibly .5 mg to use as PRN and to switch the Serzone to Celexa. The Serzone has black box warnings about liver issues and is banned in many countires. But, overall it did give me my life back. There seems to be trend in my area against the use of benzos. I am hoping to hang around here a bit as we slowly step through this process. The wean down from Klonopin began three nights ago with generic Remeron being the subsitue.
Avatar n tn I had NO side effects back then. My doc is thinking we will try serzone. Does serzone work similar to remeron? If remeron works will serzone likely work when all these others just make me worse? I'm so frustrated.
1432927 tn?1283546704 There are many choices for anxiety and it takes trial and error to get the right combo. I suggest Nefazodone (Serzone) in a light dose at first, ramp to 150mg BID, Serzone doesn't have any any of the side effects of Paxil. There are known liver side effects for Serzone though and must be carefully considered with current liver function + follow liver functions while on it.
Avatar f tn After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.
Avatar n tn I am 38, I had a complete Major Vegatative Depression in 1997, and was more lor less bedridden for 6 months - Nothing worked for me except SERZONE ( Now Called Nefazodone ) I have been on this Medicine for 11 years - I have struggled with Depression BIGTIME and only ever worked for my Father and my Myself, I could work at my own pace and about 20 hours per week for Dad till 2005, then I quit because I was not relaible due to my Symptoms that have always plagued me, I hate the Morning, I sleep ab
563594 tn?1309583132 t drag on forever for me, already going through enough with the norco withdrawal, mentally at this point. however, my stomach is still not quite normal yet...45 days later..?? I think I just have an irritable stomach, anxiety makes it worse, and I'm living in anxiety h3ll... did anyone else get stuck in a mess like this after opiate withdrawal? I knew I never should've upped my xanax dosage to help me off the opiates.. soooooo many warned me not to, and I didn't listen. STUPID..
Avatar n tn Does Serzone cause weight gain and how does it affect your sex drive. This is my first time on this forum and looking for some answers.
Avatar m tn with no deppression i am now feeling deppressed and i think it is from a melatonine/5-htp combo, i know it is a seratonine uptake drug but i was on Serzone for 17 days and it made me extremely suicidal so could 5-htp be the cause?
Avatar f tn My second question regards SSRI withdrawal symptoms. After about a week off of zoloft I suddenly started feeling extreme anger. Over the last couple of days I've been dissociating a lot--my usual reaction to extreme emotions--and I feel full of rage. The other withdrawal symptoms--dizziness, lighthededness, crying jags--began almost immediately as I tapered off.
Avatar f tn Due to a very serious bout of depression 20 years ago which went on for 6 solid years, I have been on anti-depressants for that long. Celexa being the latest, since Serzone was taken off the market. In the last 14 years, I can honestly say that my life has come together full-circle, slowly but surely. I am happy and successful. I had to make several changes through this process (in terms of relationships, personal growth and thinking patterns) and I must say I feel fulfilled.
Avatar m tn I had tapered and stabilized to where I was pretty much done with the withdrawal when I quit. After I quit I had some very mild withdrawal, and I had to finish tapering Valerian Root somewhat. I stayed on Melatonin and Valerian another 2 weeks and stopped everything a week ago yesterday. Melatonin is not addictive. It sounds like you might have not become stabilized and/or still had some distance to go yet on your Ambien taper before you jumped off.
Avatar m tn I did have this problem many years ago, which is when I was originally given Ambien, and put on an anti-depressant (serzone), which helped. I have been stable without the Serzone for a long time. I decided to start taking B12, and Magnesium (oxide, crappy absorption) yesterday, and my mood improved somewhat, and some of the obsessive sensations I mentioned earlier have lessened. I have gone through several days of crying spells, missed work, and hopelessness.
Avatar m tn It started off as only visual symptoms, limited to my left eye. Just before I went on Serzone for depression, they started to get worse. I would see flashes/streaks of light, ghosting, halo's around backlit objects, increased floaters, the odd inability to maintain focus when looking anyone in the eye. And not for nervous reasons. Over the last few years, the previous symptoms have evolved into new ones which follow. Extreme sensitivity to moderately bright lights.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I just finished reading your comments. Are you taking any prescription medications of any kind ? Some prescription medications have a light headed feeling as a side effect. You said you have had phases of depression. During those phases of depression, did your doctor prescribe antidepressants? Many years ago, one doctor put me on a certain kind of antidepressant. I took that antidepressant for several years. Then for whatever reason that antidepressant stopped working for me.
Avatar n tn The only cause I thought later that might have been was I was taking generic serzone (since they took the name brand off the market for liver damage), but I'm not sure if the medicine I tooke was why it happened. It was said to be unusual to have one on my liver by a doctor, but not harmful. It is a collection of blood vessels.
Avatar n tn But my understanding from reliable sources is that it is in the same class as Serzone which was pulled off the market due to liver toxicity. Just because Trazadone is still out there I don't believe it is completely safe for everyone. If Serzone is in the same class and pulled off the market, wouldn't you be cautious with the others in the group and drug companies have a tendency at times to withold data.
Avatar f tn I do know that cold turkey withdrawal can be brutal on the body, so you have to wonder. But I also wonder about the damage of the combination of alcohol and klonopin, so I wonder about sleeping pills in the mix and imagine that, too could probably cause some damage. Are you doing any better? Do you take any medications now?
Avatar n tn I have experienced withdrawl from every AD medication that I have ever taken, this includes Zoloft, Serzone, and Cymbalta just to name a few. I agree, it is a very nasty feeling. I get very light headed and experience Vertigo really bad during withdrawl. Headaches and nausa are also very common. Trust me it gets better, but it takes anywhere from 1 to 3 months before improvement is realized.
362971 tn?1201987034 Has anyone heard of or seen any studies about any drugs affecting viral load? I was wondering what other people have heard. I saw somewhere on a post on this Forum that they took Viagra during treatment. because of its affects on them. I took it occasionally myself because during treatment my HGB was so low I think it affected me. Anyway it helped and I was wondering if it could affect my chances of SVR. Here is a link I found and what this person has to say about it.
Avatar n tn I would recommend you speak to your primary care provider about the possibility of using an alternative medication to the TCA, possibly Wellbutrin or Serzone. I would not stop taking any of your medications without the express guidance of your doctor or prescriber. Also, Lyrica, marketed by Pfizer Inc.
1128643 tn?1262483649 Prozac, Zoloft, Effexor, amitryptiline, Paxil, trazadone, Serzone...all but MAOIs. They either had no effect or the averse effects outweighed the positive (zoloft kept me afloat by making me numb to all feelings altogether). Finally, in 2003, I was in a study for treatment resistant depression and Lexapro quite literally saved my life. I was later switched to Celexa for financial reasons. I had no problems transitioning and have taken it for the past six years.
Avatar f tn There are so many anti-ds, check into them. They all have very specific profiles, side effects, and withdrawal issues. Their tolerance from individual to individual varies greatly. Often getting on one requires trial and error. I have an anxious personality, so I couldn't tolerate SSRIs like zoloft or paxil. For instance, these gave me severe insomnia. I ended up on an SNRI. This was many years ago.
Avatar f tn I agree with Greenlydia that you should find a primary care physician so that they can get to know you and help you with your anxiety and also get to the bottom of you kidney infections. I used to get bladder infections and then kidney infections when I drank a lot of cokes. I drink lots of water and juice now and rarely have a coke. I was hospitalized twice as a child to see why I had kidney infections all the time.
