Serzone vs zoloft

Common Questions and Answers about Serzone vs zoloft

serzone

Avatar n tn I had NO side effects back then. My doc is thinking we will try serzone. Does serzone work similar to remeron? If remeron works will serzone likely work when all these others just make me worse? I'm so frustrated.
1128643 tn?1262483649 Prozac, Zoloft, Effexor, amitryptiline, Paxil, trazadone, Serzone...all but MAOIs. They either had no effect or the averse effects outweighed the positive (zoloft kept me afloat by making me numb to all feelings altogether). Finally, in 2003, I was in a study for treatment resistant depression and Lexapro quite literally saved my life. I was later switched to Celexa for financial reasons. I had no problems transitioning and have taken it for the past six years.
1432927 tn?1283546704 I always thought Paxil / Zoloft were tough to get on for anxious types. They tend to increase anxiety when first started. Don't be afraid to ramp up slowly. Talk to your doc about it too. There are many choices for anxiety and it takes trial and error to get the right combo. I suggest Nefazodone (Serzone) in a light dose at first, ramp to 150mg BID, Serzone doesn't have any any of the side effects of Paxil.
Avatar f tn A friend of mine had been taking the drug , Zoloft, for a month and she told me how much it was helping her. I asked my doctor if I could try Zoloft instead of Serzone. My doctor gave me a prescription for Zoloft . The product name of Zoloft is Sertraline.. I only took it for two days. To say it didn't agree with me was an understatement. I called my doctor and asked her to switch me back to the Serzone which she did. Zoloft made me feel horrible, majorily anxious.
Avatar n tn I am 38, I had a complete Major Vegatative Depression in 1997, and was more lor less bedridden for 6 months - Nothing worked for me except SERZONE ( Now Called Nefazodone ) I have been on this Medicine for 11 years - I have struggled with Depression BIGTIME and only ever worked for my Father and my Myself, I could work at my own pace and about 20 hours per week for Dad till 2005, then I quit because I was not relaible due to my Symptoms that have always plagued me, I hate the Morning, I sleep ab
Avatar n tn I have taken both Zoloft and Effexor for long periods (not any longer because I am on differnt AD's now) What I can tell you is that (at least in my case) I found Zoloft to be far LESS effective than Effexor. Zoloft is a one trick poney and effects only Serotonin. Effexor effects both Serotonin and Norephinepherine. Big difference in the two drugs. I am pretty sure you will find Zoloft much less effective, as most people do.
Avatar m tn I too notice a difference in how I feel taking Zoloft vs. Sertraline. I like Sertraline better though because I don't feel as numbed out and my sex drive is not affected.
Avatar n tn and saying I was just about to comment on the very old thread, I am about to start generic Zoloft and am here looking for exerience with Zoloft. Maybe the original post will give me some useful on Zoloft.
Avatar f tn Celexa does not give me fatigue but I do take it at bedtime like I did with the Zoloft. The Celexa does not work as well as the zoloft did but it took many many months for the zoloft to kick in so hoping someday the celexa works just as well.
1173196 tn?1292916490 Thanks Rebekah. I've decided to stay on the zoloft. I guess it's the lesser of 2 evils. Zoloft vs. depression. Neither is great for baby.
Avatar n tn if a person takes wellbutrin and zoloft and is doing well other than insomnia, can trazadone be added to the wellbutrin and zoloft to improve sleep?
Avatar f tn I forgot to mention that on my visit to the doctor last week he prescribed 1/2 of a 25 mg. tablet (12.5 mg.) of Zoloft once a day. Depending on how it goes, he planned to increase to one 25 mg. tablet a day at next appointment.
Avatar f tn My friend went from years on Paxil to Zoloft with no problems. Depression & anxiety often re occur in our life. Some of us are just prone to it. You did nothing wrong switching meds/trying others. I took prozac in college and it worked like a charm. 15 yrs later I had another bout of anxiety and depression and tried it again and it did nothing sadly.
Avatar f tn My OBGYN (yes, my gyno) prescribed me 50mg of Zoloft last Thursday. I know Zoloft is both an antidepressant and anti-anxiety, but I would prefer to be on something more geared towards the anxiety. I don't have a depression-just severe generalized anxiety. How should I go about discussing switching to a more anti-anxiety focused med? I've heard a lot of bad things about Zoloft. I hear a lot of people gain weight & this is a huge concern for me. Thanks for the help!
672514 tn?1265655141 Been taking 30 mg of celexa for just over 4 weeks for anxiety....had dry mouth and a little fogginess for the first couple of weeks but that has worn off. I'm much better than I was without the celexa but still think it needs more time (or possible dosage adjustment)....been wondering if I should try lexapro but hate to change since I'm so far into the celexa. No ED for me....but was warned it was a possibility.
1115705 tn?1258815104 She wants me off any sort of benzo except for possibly .5 mg to use as PRN and to switch the Serzone to Celexa. The Serzone has black box warnings about liver issues and is banned in many countires. But, overall it did give me my life back. There seems to be trend in my area against the use of benzos. I am hoping to hang around here a bit as we slowly step through this process. The wean down from Klonopin began three nights ago with generic Remeron being the subsitue.
Avatar f tn After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.
Avatar f tn I have tried paxil, effexor, wellbutrin, zoloft, and lexapro. I gained weight from all of them. I really have gad and not much depression. I wish I could just take ativan but of course can't. I go to the dr. on Tuesday and would like to get a prescription. I am currently taking 5htp and doesn't seem to help much. What do I do?
Avatar f tn Depends on your md but zoloft and wellbutrin( no clue how to spell that) are frequently prescribed to pregnant women. Also depends on how severe the depression is a risks vs benefits thing. As far as anxiety not really sometimes anti depressants help. My md said take benadryl, it doesn't make you less anxious but makes you sleepy...
