serzone vs prozac

I had NO side effects back then. My doc is thinking we will try serzone. Does serzone work similar to remeron? If remeron works will serzone likely work when all these others just make me worse? I'm so frustrated.

Prozac, Zoloft, Effexor, amitryptiline, Paxil, trazadone, Serzone...all but MAOIs. They either had no effect or the averse effects outweighed the positive (zoloft kept me afloat by making me numb to all feelings altogether). Finally, in 2003, I was in a study for treatment resistant depression and Lexapro quite literally saved my life. I was later switched to Celexa for financial reasons. I had no problems transitioning and have taken it for the past six years.

hitman it has nothing to do with the prozac. it is the klonopin w/d...i gaurentee it. start back on the prozac and get a taper schedule from ryan for the klonopin. treat them as 2 seperate issues. if you experience anxiety attribute it to the klonopin withdrawal and stay on the prozac. this one i know about, you could say i am an expert. the hasty taper schedule is what caused ALL your symptoms not the prozac.

Sounds to me like you are choosing meds for the wrong reasons. You wanted to try Pristiq because you saw it being Rx'ed a lot where you work? I'm SURE you can understand how that would not be a good reason. If you were taking an AD for anxiety (the Prozac), Pristiq would have actually not been the best choicem as it can be quite activating. I'm sure you're not having a psychotic break...sounds more like it is affecting your memory and increasing anxiety.

Said that it is not as addicting and will help me through the paxil withdrawl. ??? He said give it a month and then stop taking prozac and getting off prozac is much easier because it stays in your system longer. I am soo sick of taking pills. I went there for help and I left with more pills. Whatever..

s they make me feel as if i am detoxing off opiates, so i hope these pills are not exagerating your detox, after some time you will be able to look back and see what was a symtom of the detox vs taking the prozac, i can promise you that your brain will go back to normal, its a rule of thumb that people with an addiction get their marbles back when they are 5 yrs clean, so it may take sometime, so hang in there and be in it for the long haul!!!

There are many choices for anxiety and it takes trial and error to get the right combo. I suggest Nefazodone (Serzone) in a light dose at first, ramp to 150mg BID, Serzone doesn't have any any of the side effects of Paxil. There are known liver side effects for Serzone though and must be carefully considered with current liver function + follow liver functions while on it.

Hi tomskat, I just posted on the depression forum that I noticed a difference in Prozac and the generic form (fluxientine sp?) Prozac worked wonderfully for me were the generic form didn't do me any good. I spoke with my doctor (not the one who perscribed either med to me) about this and she agreed and said the generic Prozac is not as effective. Hope this helps.

I did take Prozac, 20 mg and Serzone before it was removed from the market- for depression, but that was when it was mostly depression and I did not notice the anxiety portion. When I went back on Prozac a year ago after 3 days I had such anxiety that I almost ended up in the er. That is why the doc said to start slow at 10 mg. I started at 5mg. I think that the first day, taking 10mg, I had a serotoniun surge, so I cut back to 5.

I have been using Cymbalta for alomost four years, I am very concerned that my Doc wants to start me on 40mg of Prozac when I have been on 120mg of Cymbalta. Can I have your thoughts about 40mg vs. 120mg and what side affects I will have to go though.

She wants me off any sort of benzo except for possibly .5 mg to use as PRN and to switch the Serzone to Celexa. The Serzone has black box warnings about liver issues and is banned in many countires. But, overall it did give me my life back. There seems to be trend in my area against the use of benzos. I am hoping to hang around here a bit as we slowly step through this process. The wean down from Klonopin began three nights ago with generic Remeron being the subsitue.

After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.

Has anyone heard of or seen any studies about any drugs affecting viral load? I was wondering what other people have heard. I saw somewhere on a post on this Forum that they took Viagra during treatment. because of its affects on them. I took it occasionally myself because during treatment my HGB was so low I think it affected me. Anyway it helped and I was wondering if it could affect my chances of SVR. I have been referred to a Phsyciatrist and he has prescribed me with Prozac starting with 20mg and working up to 40mg, but dilemma is whether to take them or not. If you want to know why it this works, a big part of it is the half-life of the medicine (Effexor is 3 hours vs. Prozac 70 hours....short half life means far worse withdrawal). Second is the receptors that Prozac hits vs Effexor which ends up reversing the withdrawal effect. Then when you finally get off Prozac it just slowly fades away over a 7 day period out of your body without any withdrawal.

Why the weight gain on these anit d's is it because you are so relaxed? Does Prozac have the same effect? I know 3 people on Prozac and they are skinny......I don't want to gain weight.

Did the same doctor prescribe you the Lorazepam during your other pregnancy? Quitting cold turkey sounds a little off to me when it comes to an anxiety medication although if you are only taking one in the evenings the withdrawal might not be too bad. You need more information from your doctor and if you are not getting the support you need from this one, I would advise switching to one who is better at explaining and listening.
