serzone side effects weight gain

Hi. I'm on tamoxifen so I can't take any meds which inhibit cyp2D6 enzymes. I've been on almost ALL SSRI ( Effexor, lexapro, celexa, nortriptyline, fetzima, & viibryd) & my depression worsens with them (suicidal thoughts, etc). The only one that has helped is remeron but every time I've had to return to remeron I gain weight. I'm usually 110-112 and eat very well & workout almost everyday.

Does Serzone cause weight gain and how does it affect your sex drive. This is my first time on this forum and looking for some answers.

you should try cymbalta. it decreases your appetite and it helps with anxiety. i also take ativan. i love it. it's the only thing that helps me. but i hate the fact that it's addicting. i haven't gotten to that point. i take one about once a week. i use to take it twice a day. so i'm doing good. but definetly ask your doctor about cumbalta.

Hi, welcome to the forum, seroquel is known to be associated with weight gain. There is significant weight gain is seen, in such cases usually other anti psychotics are prescribed. The weight gaining effect of this drug will not persist after discontinuation. Any associated condition should be looked for. If there is a change in voice (Voice becomes dusky), weight gain, intolerance to cold etc. You need to get your T3, t4 and TSH level checked as it may be in initial phase.

It also makes me tired which I can handle that one but not the weight gain, I have had problems with my back in the past and when I put on weight my back hurts. I have nerve pain in my face and just pain in my face, what would be the other options I can talk to the dr about today? Would another pill from that line of pills be the same? I am going to talk to him about treatment of the other pain in my face if he don't want to then send me to a pain specialist that can treat all the pain.

I always thought Paxil / Zoloft were tough to get on for anxious types. They tend to increase anxiety when first started. Don't be afraid to ramp up slowly. Talk to your doc about it too. There are many choices for anxiety and it takes trial and error to get the right combo. I suggest Nefazodone (Serzone) in a light dose at first, ramp to 150mg BID, Serzone doesn't have any any of the side effects of Paxil.

I didn't have any side effects except pregnancy, lol but some people may have them although not sure about the specific ones you asked about.

Depending on how old you are it could just be a weight thing. Normally early 20s you gain weight and again in mid-40s where it becomes hard to lose the weight. (I'm too lazy to check your status to see if you have your age so those things may not apply).

Weight gain is one potential side effect of Cymbalta but it would also depend on your other medications and if they have this side effect as well. It would be worthwhile to speak to your psychiatrist about this and they could see how to adjust and/or change your medications as needed and also how this specific side effect could be addressed.

I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. Besides the weight gain, I have had NO other side effects except a better quality of life. I know I will probably have to take Paxil indefinitely, and I am fine with that because I am SO much better than I was before. BUT, as I said before, everything is individual...though I know quite a few people who have done very well on Paxil. I can see that some have had bad experiences with it, but I can only tell you of my experience.

Had sexual side effects and gained some weight but I am not positive is from the Lexapro but I think may be. The Dr gave me Effexor which knocked me out for 3 days, slept 36 hours straight, then Celexa which I broke out in a rash all over my body from. He tried Wellbutrin but that did nothing. I didn't lose weight on it like some people do.

I know about it and my psychiatrist and neurologist do and I report any physical side effects or mental changes to them and they know what to do. I've taken Klonopin for 10 years without a problem. I know some people build up a tolerance to it and have to be taken off that. Generally a person wouldn't be taken off a medication that is working without a problem but that's a provider's decision.

After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently.
