Hi. I'm on tamoxifen so I can't take any meds which inhibit cyp2D6 enzymes. I've been on almost ALL SSRI ( Effexor, lexapro, celexa, nortriptyline, fetzima, & viibryd) & my depression worsens with them (suicidal thoughts, etc). The only one that has helped is remeron but every time I've had to return to remeron I gain weight. I'm usually 110-112 and eat very well & workout almost everyday.
After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.
With respect to its sexual profile, in one large study about one quarter of all patients taking Mirtazapine experienced sexual side effects. Two other drawbacks to this medicine are that it causes drowsiness and weight gain.
● Duloxetine (Cymbalta) – This is a newer medication used to treat depression. It’s manufacturers have touted it as having fewer sexual side effects than other, similar medications. As more information becomes available, this seems less promising.
Many medical professional are not very adept at preparing patients for the side effects and/or intervening before they worsen. I realize it is a 50-50 kind of thing and the patient should learn as much as possible beforehand - though as you pointed out, it is a tremendous body of knowledge and rather overwhelming for a layman (which is what I consider myself).
Suggestion: If the acid refulx doesn't ease up, maybe consider having a baseline endoscopy done. Esophageal cancer is in my family and after a few years of having acid reflux issues a baseline was done. Turns out it is BARDS and slight damage has been done. You want to watch how this progresses and follow up if it doesn't do away with the med changes.

How are you? Medication side effects may or may not occur to patients. You were given pain medication, anti-inflammatory, antihistamine and antipsychotic/tranqulizer. You may experience gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting and sedative effects. However, it is important that any sign of allergic reaction such as difficulty of breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. twitching or tremor will warrant immediate attention. Serzone does have a couple of rare nerve side effects that could have caused your numbness. Have you looked up the effects and talked to your pharmacist and/or prescribing doctor about them?
Eye twitching though - everyone gets from time to time. The facial numbness though differs and could be anything from the medication side effect to TMJ on to other things - there are a lot of facial palsies as well. Even fifth nerve issues - and those are neurological, not brain tumor.
Drug side effects can occur years later which is why you see many drugs being pulled of the market. Clinical trials run for an average of 8 weeks on healthy adults.

sorry to hear your hubby is having a hard time. sounds like he is having some of the common side effects. There is nothing that can boost platlets but many docs let them go really low before lowering or stopping the meds. Try and get back on the full strength of interferon ASAP!
Probably the most common side effect is the itching. I have it as well and it is horrible. I have found some relief with a prescription med called Atarax.
Are there any known side effects for Shen Calmer and Liver Happy Capsules? My dog has been taking them for about a week now. He is taking them for anxiety, no signs of relief yet, but no prescriptions have helped him so this is our last resort. The second day he vomited and the vet said she hadn't ever seen that so we have kept going.
The treatment requires close medical supervision by a dermatologist because the drug has many known side effects (many of which can be severe). About 25% of patients may relapse after one treatment. In those cases, a second treatment for another 4-6 months may be indicated to obtain desired results.
you should try cymbalta. it decreases your appetite and it helps with anxiety. i also take ativan. i love it. it's the only thing that helps me. but i hate the fact that it's addicting. i haven't gotten to that point. i take one about once a week. i use to take it twice a day. so i'm doing good. but definetly ask your doctor about cumbalta.
