Hi. I'm on tamoxifen so I can't take any meds which inhibit cyp2D6 enzymes. I've been on almost ALL SSRI ( Effexor, lexapro, celexa, nortriptyline, fetzima, & viibryd) & my depression worsens with them (suicidal thoughts, etc). The only one that has helped is remeron but every time I've had to return to remeron I gain weight. I'm usually 110-112 and eat very well & workout almost everyday.
After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.

m not big on side effects and all that. I have been taking paxil for 4 days now and on day two I realized that I was yawning so much that my jaw was starting to hurt (yawn) I cant stop. Im really really tired and the yawning is getting quite annoying. Is this normal and when does It usually stop? Im also obese weighing in at 257.4 lbs with only a 5'2" height. I heard alot about paxil making you gain weight. I dont want that. Im trying to become healthy.
better and function better also has side effects like sexual dysfunction. Paxiled has given good advice above. Those things all can help. Zoloft is one of those meds that getting to a therapeutic dose is a bit harder and for your average size man or even woman, 50 mg isn't much of a dose. It's definitely not at full level to help you in most cases. So, taking a full dose to me makes sense which is 100 to 150 mg depending on what your doctor says and how you feel.
you should try cymbalta. it decreases your appetite and it helps with anxiety. i also take ativan. i love it. it's the only thing that helps me. but i hate the fact that it's addicting. i haven't gotten to that point. i take one about once a week. i use to take it twice a day. so i'm doing good. but definetly ask your doctor about cumbalta.

Serzone does have a couple of rare nerve side effects that could have caused your numbness. Have you looked up the effects and talked to your pharmacist and/or prescribing doctor about them?
Eye twitching though - everyone gets from time to time. The facial numbness though differs and could be anything from the medication side effect to TMJ on to other things - there are a lot of facial palsies as well. Even fifth nerve issues - and those are neurological, not brain tumor.
I started on antidepressants when I was a teenager. In the span of 6 years I was on an entire host of antidepressants, with an intramuscular injection (during a hospital stay) being the only thing that made a noticeable difference. And that was, of course, temporary and transitory. I recovered on my own and was off meds for 9 years. Two years ago events led me to seek treatment again.
Of all the anti-depressants it appears to have the lowest incidence of sexual side effects. In fact, in most studies it had no more of these effects than a sugar pill (placebo.) I've had chronic, severe nausea for the past year and I can't take it anymore. I get nauseated after everything I eat. It doesn't matter what. I can't even have breakfast anymore (I went from eating solids to drinking liquids, and now I can't eat anything at all). Sometimes I feel like I'm not even hungry, and other times I feel horribly hungry. I can only have small meals now and I can't have dairy or bread.
I would see if the Zoloft works or not -- sometimes drugs that worked for us don't work again after you stop them, or don't work for a period of time after you stop. Paxil is well known for this, and you seem to be having this problem with Zoloft.
Read a book called The Anti-Depressant Survival Guide. I don't particularly like the diet suggested in it but the author is a functional physician, a psychiatrist who practices both medicine and integrated medicine instead of just throwing pills at the problem before deciding it really is a mental problem and not a physiological one. I think you'll get some ideas about how to avoid the bad side effects with lifestyle changes, especially the weight gain.
I will do that it seems the higher dose has created this and I'm not on anything else.
Many AD's have side effects that affect the libido, guess it applies to both sex es. As far as I know all AD's have this drastic effect . Hopefully you'll find one that's OK for you . Good luck.
