serzone prescribing information

with no deppression i am now feeling deppressed and i think it is from a melatonine/5-htp combo, i know it is a seratonine uptake drug but i was on Serzone for 17 days and it made me extremely suicidal so could 5-htp be the cause?

I had NO side effects back then. My doc is thinking we will try serzone. Does serzone work similar to remeron? If remeron works will serzone likely work when all these others just make me worse? I'm so frustrated.

There are many choices for anxiety and it takes trial and error to get the right combo. I suggest Nefazodone (Serzone) in a light dose at first, ramp to 150mg BID, Serzone doesn't have any any of the side effects of Paxil. There are known liver side effects for Serzone though and must be carefully considered with current liver function + follow liver functions while on it.

She wants me off any sort of benzo except for possibly .5 mg to use as PRN and to switch the Serzone to Celexa. The Serzone has black box warnings about liver issues and is banned in many countires. But, overall it did give me my life back. There seems to be trend in my area against the use of benzos. I am hoping to hang around here a bit as we slowly step through this process. The wean down from Klonopin began three nights ago with generic Remeron being the subsitue.

After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.

Although not as specific, it contain much of the same information and is readily available to the patient and the doctor. This information label was given to me by my GI to read and discuss regarding issues related to anger and depression and the potential for needing an AD sometime during trt. I would hope all doctors discuss this prior to trt, but this may not be the case. I'm also curious what "psychological evaluations" are being done.

There should be a prescribing information sheet included with a prescription medicine that will list known side effects.

It started off as only visual symptoms, limited to my left eye. Just before I went on Serzone for depression, they started to get worse. I would see flashes/streaks of light, ghosting, halo's around backlit objects, increased floaters, the odd inability to maintain focus when looking anyone in the eye. And not for nervous reasons. Over the last few years, the previous symptoms have evolved into new ones which follow. Extreme sensitivity to moderately bright lights.

I just checked the prescribing information of Lexapro and apparently it is actually not a good idea to take any sort of NSAID at the same time as Lexapro... so, if you're taking ibuprofen it is probably a good idea to not mix the lexapro and ibuprofen and I wouldn't suggest getting a prescription NSAID after all. Usually the prescribing information says something about when side-effects tend to go away... but, I couldn't find it. But...

I have a great concern that my mother’s family practitioner is over prescribing percocet’s to her. Drug addiction runs in our family and we lost our brother to an overdose last year. She had a knee replacement last February and we think he is prescribing these medications for knee pain. She doesn’t go to her orthopedic any more. We found one prescription dated 12/11/12 for 60 pills and then another from the same doctor filled on 12/27/12 at a different pharmacy. What can we do?

What is the difference between the prescribing of it? Such as, why would a Dr. prescribe you the pill form instead of the liquid form, or why would they prescribe the liquid instead of the pill? I understand Hydrocodone comes the same way. I know they prescribe it in liquid form, the actual name is Hycet, and then you have the regular pill form.

Hi all, I note a mention of Trazadone as being less addicting and helps blood pressure. I'm sure Summer123 wanted to share this information in good faith as Trazadone has been very helpful in her case. But my understanding from reliable sources is that it is in the same class as Serzone which was pulled off the market due to liver toxicity. Just because Trazadone is still out there I don't believe it is completely safe for everyone.

Coreg says directly in the drug information that it can cause dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting. Also, it states that dosage may need to be changed if this occurs. Are her doctors not aware that this may be a direct consequence of the Coreg, or have they just decided that the Coreg is so essential to her treatment that they will have to work around this side effect rather than switching her from Coreg to another drug or changing the dosage of the Coreg?

Has anyone heard of or seen any studies about any drugs affecting viral load? I was wondering what other people have heard. I saw somewhere on a post on this Forum that they took Viagra during treatment. because of its affects on them. I took it occasionally myself because during treatment my HGB was so low I think it affected me. Anyway it helped and I was wondering if it could affect my chances of SVR. Here is some information for you. Tricyclic Antidepressants ( ie amitriptyline, doxepin, nortriptyline, etc) can cause general gains of weight of 0.4 to 4.12 kg/month ( over the course of 2 to 6 months). I would recommend you speak to your primary care provider about the possibility of using an alternative medication to the TCA, possibly Wellbutrin or Serzone. I would not stop taking any of your medications without the express guidance of your doctor or prescriber.
