Serzone off the market

Common Questions and Answers about Serzone off the market

serzone

Avatar n tn My psychiatrist practices geriatric psychiatry and only uses this med for patients who have stopped eating since it makes most people want to eat. I thought serzone was taken off the market for causing liver disease, although the generic is still available. Maybe it's back. An alternative to serzone is wellbutrin.
1115705 tn?1258815104 She wants me off any sort of benzo except for possibly .5 mg to use as PRN and to switch the Serzone to Celexa. The Serzone has black box warnings about liver issues and is banned in many countires. But, overall it did give me my life back. There seems to be trend in my area against the use of benzos. I am hoping to hang around here a bit as we slowly step through this process. The wean down from Klonopin began three nights ago with generic Remeron being the subsitue.
Avatar n tn But my understanding from reliable sources is that it is in the same class as Serzone which was pulled off the market due to liver toxicity. Just because Trazadone is still out there I don't believe it is completely safe for everyone. If Serzone is in the same class and pulled off the market, wouldn't you be cautious with the others in the group and drug companies have a tendency at times to withold data.
Avatar n tn The only cause I thought later that might have been was I was taking generic serzone (since they took the name brand off the market for liver damage), but I'm not sure if the medicine I tooke was why it happened. It was said to be unusual to have one on my liver by a doctor, but not harmful. It is a collection of blood vessels.
1432927 tn?1283546704 No matter what do not stop taking any beta blockers or meds that the heart doc has given you suddenly because you could be in for a world of hurt here, It is common if you are not weaned off of the meds and stop suddenly that you will experience a little ditty called re bound which means that your symtoms will magnify X3 or more and you don't want to go thru that believe me....
Avatar f tn As LCC has said, having a reaction like that to the serzone could well be an indicator of BP. I would hope however that your Doctor didn't jump to this conclusion based purely on this incident. I expect he has looked at your husbands history and spoken to him in some depth before suggesting this. In order to get a definite diagnosis (either way) he does really need to be seen by a psychiatrist and I would suggest you go about organising this.
Avatar f tn s a day now that opanas are off the market until about June or July my pain Dr.
Avatar n tn ) - Ambiem , Xanax, Trazodone, Temazepam, Serax, Lorazepam - SERZONE acted as a DUAL agent, it helped life the Major Depression and reset my Sleep to the broken sleep it is, and squashed HORRIBILE Anxiety.
Avatar m tn s are on the power and all predictions are made (build) on the actual market and on the actual price ... all new drugs are price based on the actual treatment prices.
Avatar f tn In re-reading the study, I see that it looked at just 4 new-generation ADs--Prozac, Effexor, Serzone, and Paxil. The authors used the freedom of information act to obtain ALL studies of the medications from the FDA (it says that most drug companies only publish information from successful studies). In fact, it seems that the main impetus here is to examine reporting bias, not drug efficacy.
559053 tn?1274913374 s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), said Avandia should be pulled from the UK market because of concerns that the drug could increase the risk of heart attacks. They said an independent panel of experts had advised that the risks of the product outweighed its benefits, and that the drug should no longer be sold in Britain. The body said it had sent a letter to doctors in July advising them to consider alternative treatments.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the mental health expert forum. Both increased appetite and reduced sex drive are listed as possible side-effects of this medication. People react differently to different medications so I don't think anybody could accurately predict your response to the med. If you have concerns about these potential side-effects you may like to discuss them with your doctor.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am taking a very low dose of nefazodone because I'm prone to having serious side effects from most meds, especially anti-depressants. When I increased to 75 mg and then 100 mg, I started to have horrible acid reflux. I'm currently taking Dexilant in combination with Carafate and, as needed Zantac, to try to control the reflux. I'm still experiencing serious discomfort until several hours after taking nefazodone.
484508 tn?1290010544 I did take Prozac, 20 mg and Serzone before it was removed from the market- for depression, but that was when it was mostly depression and I did not notice the anxiety portion. When I went back on Prozac a year ago after 3 days I had such anxiety that I almost ended up in the er. That is why the doc said to start slow at 10 mg. I started at 5mg. I think that the first day, taking 10mg, I had a serotoniun surge, so I cut back to 5.
Avatar m tn with no deppression i am now feeling deppressed and i think it is from a melatonine/5-htp combo, i know it is a seratonine uptake drug but i was on Serzone for 17 days and it made me extremely suicidal so could 5-htp be the cause?
681148 tn?1437661591 I took the generic of Serzone the longest of any migraine preventative I was on and later, they pulled the name brand off the market due to liver problems reported!
Avatar m tn Without Ambien I will lay in bed for hours with this repetitive auto-wake cycle happening over and over. After the Ambien even barely wears off, I develop the symptoms after waking mid-sleep. It has made me afraid/sometimes terrified of sleep. Imagine if someone smacked you on the cheek every time you dozed off. I may or may not have sleep apnea, I do snore, but it hasn't caused issues in the past.
Avatar n tn I don't anything about taking Paxil off the market. If you wean off carefully over a three week period, you should not have any withdrawal symptoms. Headaches can happen any time of the day, but if just at night, it might be the time that anxious thoughts occur, and the stress of the day catches up with you.
484508 tn?1290010544 I have not been weaning off the benzo since the scare. I have been back on my .05mg, and WANTING to wean off. I don't think in my case it had to do with the benzos. I felt the same way when I was stopped Serzone a few years ago due to the liver problems that the drug was supposed to cause. I will probably return to an SSRI once I finally get off this damn 05 mg, but I cannot find anyone to tell me a schedule. People have suggested RCA, but I do not know the guy.
Avatar f tn The one that worked OK for me was serzone but that was pulled from the market due to liver damage. It relaxed me and helped with anxiety issues. I had heard about the liver issues before it was pulled from the market so I started to wean off it myself. I was only on it 6 months so it wasn't too bad, then I started to see a counselor and started cognitive behavior therapy.
747159 tn?1293804327 Good Day, I have auto immune chronic pancreatitis, CLL, had colon cancer, and they once thought I had pancreatic cancer, the fine needle biopsy showed I had it but when they did the Whipple procedure they did not fine it. I was given viokase 8 for years, then they took that off the market and I had to go on creon dr 24,000 units. I have tried this by first taking 2 one before meals and one after meals, it did nothing to help me.
572651 tn?1530999357 I spend a lot of time on the web and see a lot of incredible things, but this one takes my breath away. I can't imagine being anywhere near this farmer's market with my MS balance............... I just have to share this one. "Talk about farmer's markets! Does anyone need more space??? This is a REMARKABLE 45 sec video clip that is sure to stun you! " http://www.wimp.
Avatar n tn there are a lot of people that pay big bucks to getoff methadone in a softer ez way ...I wish I new one as I have said many times b/4 its not so much the withdrawal that makes methadone so hard to get off of but the post withdrawal....this is not an ez drug to break free from you can use short acting opiates to get past the initial withdrawal but its the next few months that they will not help with.....
