After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.

with no deppression i am now feeling deppressed and i think it is from a melatonine/5-htp combo, i know it is a seratonine uptake drug but i was on Serzone for 17 days and it made me extremely suicidal so could 5-htp be the cause?
I did have this problem many years ago, which is when I was originally given Ambien, and put on an anti-depressant (serzone), which helped. I have been stable without the Serzone for a long time.
I decided to start taking B12, and Magnesium (oxide, crappy absorption) yesterday, and my mood improved somewhat, and some of the obsessive sensations I mentioned earlier have lessened.
I have gone through several days of crying spells, missed work, and hopelessness.
I would go talk to another lawyer about it first and if they say you dont have to tell him then I would find a new lawyer.
I got denied the first time, then I appealed it and got it the second time. I had a lawyer. Which I am very thankful for. I was having a manic episode and couldn't seem to fill out the paper work once and my lawyer got me an extention on it while I was in the hospital. If it wasn't for my lawyer they might have droped my case. My lawyer got a little over $3,000 of my back pay, but thats ok considering I may not have gotten it without him.
It started off as only visual symptoms, limited to my left eye. Just before I went on Serzone for depression, they started to get worse. I would see flashes/streaks of light, ghosting, halo's around backlit objects, increased floaters, the odd inability to maintain focus when looking anyone in the eye. And not for nervous reasons. Over the last few years, the previous symptoms have evolved into new ones which follow.
Extreme sensitivity to moderately bright lights.
My lawyer says that i may not get my social security disability claim to go thru, merely because i have seen so many doctors, like a specialist for each part of my body that went crazy. ..doctor shopping. I was given no diagnosis, for many years, other than i was mentally ill and put on psych. meds. in and out of the ER etc.. i explained that this is common with all my conditions; cfs, FM and endocrine/autoimmune disease. Now, Adrenal Insufficiency.
That's a question I'd be asking a lawyer. Have you consulted one yet? I had an arrest about 7 years ago due to pain killers. I spent about 2 hours sitting in the drunk tank, bonded out, got a lawyer who handled everything. I didn't even go to court. Walked away with 6 months probation. You'd think I would have quit after that wouldn't you? Nope, I still had another six and half years left before that happened.

Everyone gets denied for SSDI -- well, almost everyone.
When I first considered applying for SSDI, my pain doc said "get a lawyer." I did not take his advice and was wrong.
This time, find a lawyer who has specialized in these cases. I have a small office, local lawyer because that's how I like to do things, but there are a couple of national firms that do disability litigation and are very good at it. Binder and Binder is one such firm. There are others.

headed feeling as a side effect. You said you have had phases of depression. During those phases of depression, did your doctor prescribe
antidepressants? Many years ago, one doctor put me on a certain kind of antidepressant. I took that antidepressant for several years. Then for whatever reason that antidepressant stopped working for me.
The only cause I thought later that might have been was I was taking generic serzone (since they took the name brand off the market for liver damage), but I'm not sure if the medicine I tooke was why it happened. It was said to be unusual to have one on my liver by a doctor, but not harmful. It is a collection of blood vessels.
