Serzone insomnia

Common Questions and Answers about Serzone insomnia

serzone

Avatar f tn After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.
Avatar n tn I had NO side effects back then. My doc is thinking we will try serzone. Does serzone work similar to remeron? If remeron works will serzone likely work when all these others just make me worse? I'm so frustrated.
Avatar n tn I am 38, I had a complete Major Vegatative Depression in 1997, and was more lor less bedridden for 6 months - Nothing worked for me except SERZONE ( Now Called Nefazodone ) I have been on this Medicine for 11 years - I have struggled with Depression BIGTIME and only ever worked for my Father and my Myself, I could work at my own pace and about 20 hours per week for Dad till 2005, then I quit because I was not relaible due to my Symptoms that have always plagued me, I hate the Morning, I sleep ab
Avatar m tn I did have this problem many years ago, which is when I was originally given Ambien, and put on an anti-depressant (serzone), which helped. I have been stable without the Serzone for a long time. I decided to start taking B12, and Magnesium (oxide, crappy absorption) yesterday, and my mood improved somewhat, and some of the obsessive sensations I mentioned earlier have lessened. I have gone through several days of crying spells, missed work, and hopelessness.
1432927 tn?1283546704 There are many choices for anxiety and it takes trial and error to get the right combo. I suggest Nefazodone (Serzone) in a light dose at first, ramp to 150mg BID, Serzone doesn't have any any of the side effects of Paxil. There are known liver side effects for Serzone though and must be carefully considered with current liver function + follow liver functions while on it.
1115705 tn?1258815104 She wants me off any sort of benzo except for possibly .5 mg to use as PRN and to switch the Serzone to Celexa. The Serzone has black box warnings about liver issues and is banned in many countires. But, overall it did give me my life back. There seems to be trend in my area against the use of benzos. I am hoping to hang around here a bit as we slowly step through this process. The wean down from Klonopin began three nights ago with generic Remeron being the subsitue.
Avatar n tn Does Serzone cause weight gain and how does it affect your sex drive. This is my first time on this forum and looking for some answers.
Avatar m tn with no deppression i am now feeling deppressed and i think it is from a melatonine/5-htp combo, i know it is a seratonine uptake drug but i was on Serzone for 17 days and it made me extremely suicidal so could 5-htp be the cause?
Avatar f tn I started on antidepressants when I was a teenager. In the span of 6 years I was on an entire host of antidepressants, with an intramuscular injection (during a hospital stay) being the only thing that made a noticeable difference. And that was, of course, temporary and transitory. I recovered on my own and was off meds for 9 years. Two years ago events led me to seek treatment again.
484508 tn?1290010544 I did take Prozac, 20 mg and Serzone before it was removed from the market- for depression, but that was when it was mostly depression and I did not notice the anxiety portion. When I went back on Prozac a year ago after 3 days I had such anxiety that I almost ended up in the er. That is why the doc said to start slow at 10 mg. I started at 5mg. I think that the first day, taking 10mg, I had a serotoniun surge, so I cut back to 5.
Avatar m tn It started off as only visual symptoms, limited to my left eye. Just before I went on Serzone for depression, they started to get worse. I would see flashes/streaks of light, ghosting, halo's around backlit objects, increased floaters, the odd inability to maintain focus when looking anyone in the eye. And not for nervous reasons. Over the last few years, the previous symptoms have evolved into new ones which follow. Extreme sensitivity to moderately bright lights.
Avatar n tn The only cause I thought later that might have been was I was taking generic serzone (since they took the name brand off the market for liver damage), but I'm not sure if the medicine I tooke was why it happened. It was said to be unusual to have one on my liver by a doctor, but not harmful. It is a collection of blood vessels.
Avatar m tn You seem to have chronic insomnia. The first step would be to rule the causes for insomnia like sleep disorders. Next it is treated with both medical and non medical therapy. Medical (sedatives) are given in the temporary initial phase, this is combined with non medical measures like sleep hygiene, relaxation therapy, stimulus control, and sleep restriction which are referred to as cognitive behavioral therapies.
Avatar f tn As a nurse you know that when we take a sleep aid it will eventually need to be paid back with some insomnia. Try to look at it as temporary. Your sleep WILL return. Avoid using OTC sleep aids other than Melatonin. A hot bath before bed will do wonders. But do expect a few days of rough insomnia. During that time sleep when your body says and forget about "bedtime" sorry to say. You will need some sick days from qwork to go cold turkey off the pain meds.
Avatar f tn I am only 20 weeks but for the past 3 or 4 weeks I have a hard time sleeping and staying asleep. Ive really never had insomnia before but man it stinks. I had 2 hours sleep last night and 4 the night before. I'm exhausted but can't sleep. :( may have to ask doc about pills. ... I do hear as far as comfort that maternity pillows help a lot. Good luck to you.
Avatar f tn Yes me too. I've always had insomnia but I've taking things for it and now im trying not to take anything. What really helps is their is an app called sleepy sounds. Its basically a white no is machine. I put the timer on for 3 hours and use the rain sound. My husband hates it so ill lay in bed and he falls asleep and then if I cant sleep within an hr ill put in on and im usually asleep within 10-15 min.
Avatar f tn So I am only 4 weeks pregnant. And I have horrible insomnia. Generally I take a benadryl(no name brand) to help me fall asleep. But I just recently found out I'm pregnant. And I'm not sure if it's ok to take. What do you guys think?
Avatar f tn I suffered from insomnia before I got pregnant. My first trimester I had no problem sleeping because I was always tired. Now at 32 almost 33 weeks I fall asleep between 11:30-12:00 like I did before I got pregnant but wake up between 2-3 and don't get back to sleep til 5 and have to be up by 7. It really is a pain and I can't take my meds for it because it lowers my son's heart rate too much.
