serzone for ocd

My psychiatrist practices geriatric psychiatry and only uses this med for patients who have stopped eating since it makes most people want to eat. I thought serzone was taken off the market for causing liver disease, although the generic is still available. Maybe it's back. An alternative to serzone is wellbutrin.

Thank you for your suggestion - I checked out the Serzone when you first suggested it as a possible medication but it was banned here in Australia - I have since checked it out again and it is still on the banned list.

There are known liver side effects for Serzone though and must be carefully considered with current liver function + follow liver functions while on it.

Does Serzone cause weight gain and how does it affect your sex drive. This is my first time on this forum and looking for some answers.

She wants me off any sort of benzo except for possibly .5 mg to use as PRN and to switch the Serzone to Celexa. The Serzone has black box warnings about liver issues and is banned in many countires. But, overall it did give me my life back. There seems to be trend in my area against the use of benzos. I am hoping to hang around here a bit as we slowly step through this process. The wean down from Klonopin began three nights ago with generic Remeron being the subsitue.

After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.

with no deppression i am now feeling deppressed and i think it is from a melatonine/5-htp combo, i know it is a seratonine uptake drug but i was on Serzone for 17 days and it made me extremely suicidal so could 5-htp be the cause?

As you have stated,there is no cure for OCD,if there was there would be alot of happy people who would be able to live happy--normal lives.There are good medications--CBT--Exposure therapy & the OCD workbook.The combination of all these treatments can make OCD easier to deal with.

thank you my good firend,i'm trying to let OCD go first,if i couldn't forget it at 6mos,so finally test for me is 6mos.i believe cdc's 6mos window period is conclusive,although almost docs recommended 3mos window period.i know we are negative,just OCD.

What are the best medications for OCD, and has anyone had success with prozac for OCD?

i am on zoloft 75mg and have been breaking out in a rash since i started taking it in april but am just now realizing it could be the zoloft. does anyone have any experiance with this or can recommend another medicine that may work for my ocd and anxiety. my ocd is the scary thoughts and it was all caused after a major surgery i went through. it is getting better but i still have some issues.

t think that it is prescribed as much for OCD as the SSRIs but it does seem to work for me. I have not gained a bunch of weight and it doesn't kill a person's sex drive like the others do. Maybe worth a discussion with your prescribing doctor.

I was curious to know if anyone here is resistant to medication for OCD. He is on 300mg of Anafranil since December and started Luvox at the end of December and doctor has been increasing the luvox, so he is now on 300mg of luvox as of two days ago. This is the strange part.....

I was also told to eat turkey for L Tryptophan. Do you think this is an appropiate treatment for ocd? I had taken an SSRI called Prozac before but I was not able to tolerate it as they used to cause some pressure in my head so my doctor had told me to stop taking the pills. Does Cognitive Behavioral Therapy help ?

The CBT is absolutely key to helping him and down the road, because I think he is way too young for medication, there are medications out there that help treat OCD very well. I have had OCD since I was a teenager. I went to college, got married, had children, and have a very successful job. So yes, with the right help he will turn out just fine. He is very lucky to have you and your wife as his parents.

Have you ever contacted a specialist for ocd or are you going to a regular therapist? They deal with therapy that involves exposure and response techniques that help change the irrational ways of thinking. Ive read a lot into this and I think it could be really helpful if you find somoene that really knows what they are doing who is a specialist in this area not just a regualar therapist. They would probably know more about medicines and which ones are the best for ocd too.

has anyone expierienced affective treatment for ocd that lasts? something that can meke you feel normal again and not like your life is ending? like all you can do is harp on the past and worry about the future. i need to get back to the present. i need to just be a seventeen year old. i need to stop obsessing. any advice?

A friend of mine had been taking the drug , Zoloft, for a month and she told me how much it was helping her. I asked my doctor if I could try Zoloft instead of Serzone. My doctor gave me a prescription for Zoloft . The product name of Zoloft is Sertraline.. I only took it for two days. To say it didn't agree with me was an understatement. I called my doctor and asked her to switch me back to the Serzone which she did. Zoloft made me feel horrible, majorily anxious.

I think if this combination is working for you, then continue it. What you have to realize though is that OCD is for life. We will always have it but we can live very well with managed OCD. If you decide to stop your regimen and you have problems, it would be good to have some cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to fall back on.

He should see a therapist. (everybody should see a therapist imo) If your son is honest, the professional will most likely be able to give a diagnosis of ocd if he has it. Dont convince yourself or your son that he has ocd (or anything wrong with him at all).
