Common Questions and Answers about Serzone drug

serzone

Avatar n tn I had NO side effects back then. My doc is thinking we will try serzone. Does serzone work similar to remeron? If remeron works will serzone likely work when all these others just make me worse? I'm so frustrated.
Avatar m tn with no deppression i am now feeling deppressed and i think it is from a melatonine/5-htp combo, i know it is a seratonine uptake drug but i was on Serzone for 17 days and it made me extremely suicidal so could 5-htp be the cause?
1432927 tn?1283546704 There are many choices for anxiety and it takes trial and error to get the right combo. I suggest Nefazodone (Serzone) in a light dose at first, ramp to 150mg BID, Serzone doesn't have any any of the side effects of Paxil. There are known liver side effects for Serzone though and must be carefully considered with current liver function + follow liver functions while on it.
Avatar n tn I am 38, I had a complete Major Vegatative Depression in 1997, and was more lor less bedridden for 6 months - Nothing worked for me except SERZONE ( Now Called Nefazodone ) I have been on this Medicine for 11 years - I have struggled with Depression BIGTIME and only ever worked for my Father and my Myself, I could work at my own pace and about 20 hours per week for Dad till 2005, then I quit because I was not relaible due to my Symptoms that have always plagued me, I hate the Morning, I sleep ab
1115705 tn?1258815104 She wants me off any sort of benzo except for possibly .5 mg to use as PRN and to switch the Serzone to Celexa. The Serzone has black box warnings about liver issues and is banned in many countires. But, overall it did give me my life back. There seems to be trend in my area against the use of benzos. I am hoping to hang around here a bit as we slowly step through this process. The wean down from Klonopin began three nights ago with generic Remeron being the subsitue.
Avatar f tn After stopping serzone for anxiety, my husband had a reaction of severe insomnia after trying Lexapro for 3 days. His doctor suggested bipolar and put him on Zyprexa but is weaning him down gradually. He's on 7.5 mg currently. What side effects can we expect if he doesn't really have bipolar (which is our opinion) from this medication? We know the most common ones, but what if he is not truly bipolar? I can't wait for him to get off of it, but he is sleeping soundly again.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am taking a very low dose of nefazodone because I'm prone to having serious side effects from most meds, especially anti-depressants. When I increased to 75 mg and then 100 mg, I started to have horrible acid reflux. I'm currently taking Dexilant in combination with Carafate and, as needed Zantac, to try to control the reflux. I'm still experiencing serious discomfort until several hours after taking nefazodone.
Avatar n tn A well-qualified psychiatrist will have more training in managing anxiety, but they may also want to explore other options for you since this seems to be a long-term drug that helps you with your condition. Good luck, and call right away. You can do a search on this forum under xanax tapering or reduction to get a better idea on the amount you should be reducing by. Dropping by .5 mg. when you've been taking a total of 2 mg./day is a bit too aggressive, in my opinion.
Avatar n tn Does Serzone cause weight gain and how does it affect your sex drive. This is my first time on this forum and looking for some answers.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I just finished reading your comments. Are you taking any prescription medications of any kind ? Some prescription medications have a light headed feeling as a side effect. You said you have had phases of depression. During those phases of depression, did your doctor prescribe antidepressants? Many years ago, one doctor put me on a certain kind of antidepressant. I took that antidepressant for several years. Then for whatever reason that antidepressant stopped working for me.
Avatar m tn I did have this problem many years ago, which is when I was originally given Ambien, and put on an anti-depressant (serzone), which helped. I have been stable without the Serzone for a long time. I decided to start taking B12, and Magnesium (oxide, crappy absorption) yesterday, and my mood improved somewhat, and some of the obsessive sensations I mentioned earlier have lessened. I have gone through several days of crying spells, missed work, and hopelessness.
563594 tn?1309583132 Obviously my body has become dependent on xanax in just 8 months. what a ridiculous drug... I am really not looking forward to the next month. even the month after that... I hope these symptoms don't drag on forever for me, already going through enough with the norco withdrawal, mentally at this point. however, my stomach is still not quite normal yet...45 days later..?? I think I just have an irritable stomach, anxiety makes it worse, and I'm living in anxiety h3ll...
Avatar f tn In re-reading the study, I see that it looked at just 4 new-generation ADs--Prozac, Effexor, Serzone, and Paxil. The authors used the freedom of information act to obtain ALL studies of the medications from the FDA (it says that most drug companies only publish information from successful studies). In fact, it seems that the main impetus here is to examine reporting bias, not drug efficacy.
681148 tn?1437661591 Depression and suicidal thoughts can be a side-effect of Sibelium (Flunarizine) in some people, so I realized that the out-of-the-blue depression was probably a side-effect of the new drug. I stopped the new drug, and within 3 days I felt like myself again and not depressed. So, my doctor switched me to Verapamil, and so far it has done nothing!! My migraines stayed about the same for a few months, and recently they have become much more chronic.
Avatar m tn It started off as only visual symptoms, limited to my left eye. Just before I went on Serzone for depression, they started to get worse. I would see flashes/streaks of light, ghosting, halo's around backlit objects, increased floaters, the odd inability to maintain focus when looking anyone in the eye. And not for nervous reasons. Over the last few years, the previous symptoms have evolved into new ones which follow. Extreme sensitivity to moderately bright lights.
Avatar n tn The only cause I thought later that might have been was I was taking generic serzone (since they took the name brand off the market for liver damage), but I'm not sure if the medicine I tooke was why it happened. It was said to be unusual to have one on my liver by a doctor, but not harmful. It is a collection of blood vessels.
Avatar m tn I mean who wouldnt be scared Im on xanax 4 mg ,200mg lopressor , prilosec daily I have taken all the benzos , had buspar ,serzone, paxil (it sucked) fell my life has been taken over by fear . now I cant sleep and I want to eat all the time .last month I hardly ate at all ...scared sorry I just needed to vent .Im so mad at the health community This discussion is related to v-tach.
404138 tn?1308941656 Alcohol is just another drug in this respect......so you have probably come to the right place. I am a huge believer in the Amino Acid Protocol.....I had very good luck with both 5-HTP and SaMe - probably kept an anti depressant out of my pill inventory.....theanine is a good one for the anxiety - just a lot of natural things that do the job quite well.... check them out......not a lot of advice for the alcohol.......you know the drill.....just be totally honest with yourself....
484508 tn?1290010544 The first day I felt too good, like it was a miracle drug, and I got worried, so I cut back to 5 mg and this overwhelming anxiety hit and I had to take a Klonopin on day 3. Someone said that with some SSRI's anxiety can occurr in the beginnning. This scared me. Has anyone else had this experience. I want this to work because I am not happy with this anxiety and panic. If this is true, why would the anxiety get worse before it improves. Should I hang in there?
Avatar f tn I have only been diagnosed since an anaesthetist gave me the wrong drug during an operation when my heart rate dropped too low and this subsequently caused fibrilation and cardiac arrest. I was lucky they persisted with CPR for 20 Minutes before they got a pulse apparently they were just about to stop.
362971 tn?1201987034 Has anyone heard of or seen any studies about any drugs affecting viral load? I was wondering what other people have heard. I saw somewhere on a post on this Forum that they took Viagra during treatment. because of its affects on them. I took it occasionally myself because during treatment my HGB was so low I think it affected me. Anyway it helped and I was wondering if it could affect my chances of SVR. Here is a link I found and what this person has to say about it.
Avatar n tn I would recommend you speak to your primary care provider about the possibility of using an alternative medication to the TCA, possibly Wellbutrin or Serzone. I would not stop taking any of your medications without the express guidance of your doctor or prescriber. Also, Lyrica, marketed by Pfizer Inc.
