Sertraline withdrawal effects

Common Questions and Answers about Sertraline withdrawal effects

zoloft

Avatar m tn Since posting here i have just gone and looked up Sertraline. It seems the side effects of that are very similar to withdrawal symptoms? Like i said i was getting symptoms before i started the Sertraline. In hindsight though it does seem to have gotten worse. Just let me add, when i went to my doctor it was more for my physical symptoms than mental ones. I have always suffered from Insomnia, probably due to my long term drug use, and have learned to cope with it.
Avatar m tn t ever know if these are side effects of the Zoloft or withdrawal effects from stopping the Lexapro. This should also tell you about stopping the Klonopin abruptly -- it's not about whether you're technically addicted to something or not, it's how easy your brain finds it to adapt back to being without the artificial way medication makes it work. Other medications can't duplicate this because they all work differently and target different receptors.
Avatar f tn My sertraline tablets recently stopped working so well and the GP switched me straight on to fluoxetine. It was a complete nightmare, withdrawal from sertraline plus the side effects from fluoxetine took me to the most terrifying place. I then stopped all ssris and have not had any for 17 days. The first week was awful but then I started to improve, I seemed to get my energy back and I could go out and do things, this was short lived.
Avatar f tn s why it might be better to completely stop a med before switching to another -- it allows you to know which effects are from which drug and also allows any withdrawal problems to be dealt with because you know that's what it is, not a side effect from the new drug. As for whether any drug will work or not, that's very individual -- people metabolize drugs differently. You have to metabolize it well for it to work (and also to get side effects).
1030383 tn?1338460785 I'm withdrawing from Zyprexa, Abilify, Ativan and sertraline. It's been three weeks and I've had terrible nausea, stomach pain, fatigue, and generally not feeling good. How long will this last? And, any ideas on how to deal with mania since I can't just "knock myself out" like usual? I need to get enough sleep to stay out of the hospital!
Avatar f tn i was on 150mg sertraline and 80mg propanolol slow release have stopped taking both two weeks ago how long does it take for side effects of this take to stop
Avatar f tn I might be pregnant and my psychiatrist told me not to worry about the embryo. He told me that even while I'm taking 15 mg of Aripiprazole and 50 mg of Sertraline daily, there is no danger. I'm really worried. if I'm pregnant, would these doses harm my embryo being taken daily?
1910757 tn?1348683319 After the first week or so, the adverse effects slowly disappeared and my mood improved a lot. I was honestly loving Sertraline, because it made me feel the way I was before the depressive episode and it also improved my anxiety. About two weeks ago, I started getting diarrhea. At first it didn't bother me, because I spend most of my time at home and I just though it would eventually go away like the other adverse effects.
Avatar f tn I have been on 200mg of sertraline for a long time and after trying other drugs I know this is the best for me. I have recently founf out im pregnant so asked my doctor for advice. I was told the risks are minimal and recommended I stay on it. Is it true the only risk is the baby might be born with a sertraline addiction?
Avatar f tn ll know if any side effects are from withdrawal or start-up effects from the Prozac. My own experience and research is that there are no tapers shorter than 6 weeks that anyone recommends, so there is that. But it's a very individual thing. I find that when a drug doesn't work, it's not very hard to stop taking. The longer you've been on it the longer it takes to go off of it. These are additional factors. Be safe, be successful, then move on. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn I had sertraline for 5 days, this medication gave me nightly panic attacks and I was told to stop!! I was still feeling unwell days later.. Mainly from no sleep and not eating. Headaches now could be tension and fear.. Hopefully they will stop. Please speak to your Doctor..
Avatar f tn s cramp is exceptionally bad this time, not sure it was affected by Sertraline. I am not sure this med would help me anymore. Hope someone could induce more positive effects about Sertraline.
Avatar f tn Hey Y’all, wondering how long it takes to feel normal(functional)after quitting sertraline. Quick story, I started about 3 years ago on sertraline, on and off. Prescribed for depression, social anxiety, I developed this for no apparent reason. Couldn’t pin point why I was feeling this way. Overtime it helped make me functional as a person with work, relationships, grinding everyday to be the best. It had side effects. Mostly weight gain, some sexual dysfunction. Trouble ejaculating.
Avatar n tn Does the lack of Adderall somehow affect the chemical balance, or does it make the affects of Sertraline less effective? I read that Sertraline amplifies the effects of Adderall, but I'm wondering if the negative inverse is true - does lack of Adderall impede Sertraline in any way? 2. I've been on Zoloft 15mg for about 3-4 months or so. Does Zoloft lose its effectiveness in that time period, or rather, could it?
Avatar f tn She thought it was the side effect of flunarizine (since she found out that I have previous depression tendency, which I swear to god it has stopped years ago, and flunarizine can trigger side effects to ones with anxiety, depression, etc.). In addition, she claimed that it could be a sign for a deeper matter, which explained why she diagnosed I was going through recurrent depression and gave me SERTRALINE (ZOLOFT), plus GABAPENTINE. She promised that I would sleep just fine. Guess what?
9475243 tn?1405300275 Sertraline has a higher dose for working than Paxil because the drug are different. Sertraline usually starts its therapeutic dose at 100mg. Some do well at 50. Some are highly sensitive to things and absorb them really well while others don't. It usually takes about 4-6 weeks to notice positive effects, although some do notice them earlier. Side effects, though, start right away.
Avatar m tn Anayway the Sertraline has not improved anything. I have looked sertraline up on this site and the common side effects are pretty much the same as what i was feeling anyway! So i just wanted to see if anyone has experienced anything similar. Thanks for the reply, any other thoughts you have would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn The most common side effects of Sertraline that you should watch out for are nausea, diarrhea and sleep disturbances, in that order. There are a lot of other side effects listed for Sertraline, but these are the ones commonly encountered. Drowsiness and excessive sleep may be seen with Clonazepam. Other side effects are rare. I won't be able to comment much on the effects of the initial dosage on your blood pressure, as it differs person to person.
Avatar f tn Venaflaxine side effects not as bad as Sertraline. Cant remember that I experienced any side effects with Venaflaxine like I did with Serdep.
Avatar m tn I have had migraines for the past 20 years, normally I experience 3 or 4 migraines a year but since I have been taking Sertraline I have had many more than usual. I am sure that it is the Sertraline because I normally take it before bed and have woke up several mornings with the leftover pain from the migraine I had while sleeping ( before Sertraline I have never had a migraine during the night ).
612551 tn?1450022175 Talking to myself? Now 8 days on sertraline and still fatigue side effects, an no noticeable reduction in my troubled ruminations. I will go to the full 50 mg on day 10, and if things get no better I'll ask my doctor for advice. Others have told me it takes a couple of weeks, so I should give it at least that long.
Avatar m tn I'm a 30yr old male. I was on Sertraline approx 10 years ago for depression and it seemed to work until a crash. For one reason or another over the years, my treatment has changed several times. It is 2011 and i have found my way back to sertraline. I am currently taking 10mg of buspirone 2x day and 15mg of mirtazapine for major depression and generalized anxiety. I have been feeling constantly tired, apathetic and despondent.
Avatar m tn I have always heard that Paxil was a drug that no one should be on so I talked to my doctor about switching. He decided that Sertraline may work for me. He had me stop Paxil for two days and then begin taking Setraline 25 mg for two days and then upping it to 50 mg. I began feeling terrible. Increased heart rate, drowsiness, pressure in the front of my head, occasional dizziness and seeing visual flashes of light (just a quick flicker) at certain times of the day.
Avatar n tn i have chills right now too, i used to have them as bad as you, chills and shaking, when i took a high dosage of perphenazine, and at a different time when i had a urinary infection. many psychiatric meds have chills as side effects. until recently i was taking 20 mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine and had mild chills.
