Sertraline vs celexa

Common Questions and Answers about Sertraline vs celexa

zoloft

Avatar f tn Depends on your md but zoloft and wellbutrin( no clue how to spell that) are frequently prescribed to pregnant women. Also depends on how severe the depression is a risks vs benefits thing. As far as anxiety not really sometimes anti depressants help. My md said take benadryl, it doesn't make you less anxious but makes you sleepy...
Avatar n tn Oh its def.
Avatar f tn This might not be your med, but it does show one thing -- you're metabolizing it well. Any reason you went up in dose when you were suffering side effects? Might have been better to go slowly to see if you got used to it. I got the sweats with Lexapro and its progenitor Celexa, and they never have gone away completely. It's a balance between the benefits vs. the downsides.
Avatar m tn My Dr. just prescribe me Zoloft, I was taking Celexa for Anxiety and Depression but stop working. I started last week taking Zoloft every other day that way the transition from Celexa could be easier. On Wednesday, I stop Celexa and started taking only Zoloft. As anyone, experience loose of appetite, upset stomach and being tired? PD: Also, Im on Ativan .
Avatar m tn I too notice a difference in how I feel taking Zoloft vs. Sertraline. I like Sertraline better though because I don't feel as numbed out and my sex drive is not affected.
Avatar f tn FWIW. Celexa gave me the yawns (exactly like itorait20 listed for Sertraline) for at least 6 weeks, then went away forever. I never felt tired on it, and from what I remember, my pharmacist said it speeds you up. Sometimes I chain-yawned over and over as soon as the last one subsided so I tried to forget about it.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, I need so advice on what I can do or take to help increase my sex drive. I am 31 yrs old and take a 100mg of Sertraline (a generic for Zoloft) everyday and I have no sex drive. My husband is understanding but getting impatient! I am even getting impatient!! I don't want to switch meds because these work for me. I am wondering if anyone has the same problem and what they are doing to help them. Are there any supplements I can take with these meds to help?
Avatar f tn What they did was cut Celexa in half to create Lexapro, and thus were able to get a new patent. Celexa is a lot cheaper, therefore. If Celexa is working, I probably wouldn't switch; if it isn't, then I probably would.
Avatar f tn t noticed any changes yet. Previously I was taking Welbutrin, depakote and celexa. I have asked her to put me back.on celexa for anxiety since I dont want to take a narcotic for it like xanax. Has anyone else been on this combination and how long did it take to start leveling out??
1352071 tn?1276904138 I actually switched from Celexa to Sertraline (Zoloft) a long time ago and I actually prefer Sertraline, but each of us are different and what is good for one may not be good another in my opinion. Whenever I take medications like Sertraline, I do have a few side effects when I start or adjust the dosage, but they tend to go away in a couple of weeks. I would stress patience and keep an open line of communication open between you and your prescribing doctor...keep us posted!
Avatar m tn Should a patient be on zoloft and celexa at the same time. I have a patient on celexa 20mg that started 5/17/11. She was previously on Zoloft 200mg daily that has been decreased to 100mg daily x7 days then 50mg x7days then d/c. My problem is this combination of the two. Should she have finished the tapering of zoloft before starting the celexa?
581954 tn?1223391496 I have used this in the past and it is a type of medication grouped into SSRIs (Zoloft (Sertraline), Paxil, Prozac, Lexapro, etc. These affect people in different ways, so it is sometimes hard to say how each individual will react. I am a big proponent for these types of medications COMBINED with talk therapy. In my opinion, there is no 'magic pill' that will 'cure' you of anxiety or depression.
2190999 tn?1504988891 I know Celexa, lexapro and Sertraline both gave me night sweats. They are all selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Effexor is an SNRI, serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. I think since they both inhibit serotonin, that most likely is the reason you're sweating. The effect for me didn't lessen with time, it was every night for as long as I took them.
672514 tn?1265655141 Been taking 30 mg of celexa for just over 4 weeks for anxiety....had dry mouth and a little fogginess for the first couple of weeks but that has worn off. I'm much better than I was without the celexa but still think it needs more time (or possible dosage adjustment)....been wondering if I should try lexapro but hate to change since I'm so far into the celexa. No ED for me....but was warned it was a possibility.
Avatar f tn Good day! Im 29 years old girl.Since last year Im taking antidepression.(sertraline) wich decreased my sex desire....can you help me please...What should I do??Im taking mutivitamins but its not work..whats advice about libido enhancers like spanish fly??
1305597 tn?1275336446 citalopram (celexa), fluoxetine (prozac), sertraline (zoloft). Another medication that is sometimes added to SSRI in the treatment of depression is bupropion (welbutrin) and it has even been shown to cause a small weight loss over the first few months (it suppresses the appetite). However, if the eating disorder you are is either anorexia or bulimia this is not an option because during clinical trails bupropion caused a slightly increased rate of new seizures in those two eating disorders.
11487567 tn?1418754128 My daughter was prescribed zoloft (sertraline) 25 mg, celexa 10 mg, and lexapro 5 mg to take all together. When picking up her prescription, the pharmacist questioned the prescribing doctors mix saying that taking all three could cause serotonin syndrome. My daughter started out on the zoloft at half dose for a week, then went to 25 mg, then added celexa and lexapro a few weeks later. She is now at week 16 but seems to be doing fine except for she can't get rid of a flu.
415867 tn?1323365503 I have anxiety issues and have tried fluoxetine, sertraline, (both led to decreased sex drive and lack of orgasm) and now escitalopram (which helped the sexual aspect but still gaining). I am also on requip 0.5mg for my RLS and iron 325mg for my low iron and ferritin. When I have increase in anxiety i take lorazepam which is usually at night for me right before bed. Do any of these combo of drugs increase wt gain? I just don't know where to turn as for as the increasing in wt.
Avatar m tn I have always heard that Paxil was a drug that no one should be on so I talked to my doctor about switching. He decided that Sertraline may work for me. He had me stop Paxil for two days and then begin taking Setraline 25 mg for two days and then upping it to 50 mg. I began feeling terrible. Increased heart rate, drowsiness, pressure in the front of my head, occasional dizziness and seeing visual flashes of light (just a quick flicker) at certain times of the day.
Avatar f tn The side effects that you are describing are somewhat common side effects many experience from this class of medications. Zoloft (Sertraline) and Celexa (Citalopram) are in a slightly different class known as Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) but are also used to treat depression with similar side effects. Cymbalta, another SNRI is a medication that may work for you.
Avatar m tn Hi Everyone! Just one fast question here... I really need to start again a SSRI for my extreme panic disorder and I want to know if the Celexa will work to stop the panic disorder, since I took it for my social phobia at 60 mg/day back in 1999 for 6 months and it did nothing for the social anxiety and my anxiety level didn't improve on it?
