Sertraline and vision

Common Questions and Answers about Sertraline and vision

zoloft

i have been taking sertraline for over 4 years for depression and severe insomnia. It has made a difference to my mood and i do get better sleep but i have gained about 2 and half stones even though i exercise regularly. I have also become sensitive to sunlight which gives me a ithcy rash, especially on my arms and neck. My vision has also been effected. Do you think that i should try another antipressant and if so which one?
I had my first experience with a panic attack and subsequent deep depression on April 1, 2009. I went to the doctor and he started me on meds. I've been on Sertraline for five weeks and have had no significant improvement in depression or anxiety. My doctor tried Lexapro first for six weeks and I seem to get worse. He just increased my dose from 100mg to150mg of sertraline four days ago (June 30). I feel really strange.
Yet places lil under armpit are dry.... I don't feel as panicky as u usually do when i wake up.... But vision in my right eye is blurred and my pupils are dilated i am guessing from the med... Even tho i took it 8hours + ago?
withdrawal - which is generally a short term (you should be feeling a lot better soon) set of symptoms and is minimized by tapering slowly and (one other trick if this doesn't work) switching to a very low dose of a long half life SSRI like fluoxetine for the last part of the taper. 2. reemergency - a return of the anxiety and depressive symptoms that the medication was treating - which occurs as you reduce the dose and won't go away unless you get some other treatment 3.

I am being treated for PTSD/Depression and have been taking clonazepam, cyproheptadine, sertraline, and temazepam.for the last couple of weeks. I also have severe sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine. Even with the CPAP I don't sleep much at all, and cannot remember the last time I slept an entire night through. I kick, moan, twitch, and have vivid nightmares. My question involves my eyesight. Last year I had a routine eye exam for my myopia.
Lyrica did give me blurred vision and extra paranoia at the start, and that was indeed awful for the first couple weeks as I upped my dosage! After the initial troubles, I found that it really was better than gabapentin for me now. I have not gained weight, but remain the same weight I call my meds weight. I just try to remain active and not pig out. I used to be very thin, so now I am just sturdy looking, neither fat nor thin.
I used to have muslce twitching all of the time, my heart would pound all of the time, I would wake up in panick attacks, and would mae myself sick to the point where I would throw up. My hands and arms would tinlge and burn, and I my vision was blurry, and my head would pound and my jaw would throb, and one of my worst symptoms was I had and still do have, depersonalization/derealization, and I would feel almost like I was high on some kind of drug, and that I was watching my life as a movie.
Basically, he said that my reflexs are hyperactive, but not pathological and since my MRIs were normal, there was nothing more he could do. He does not think I have MS, but he never diagnoses it and admits he doesn't know what the diagnostic criteria is. He asked my for the third time in a couple months if I worked outside the home. (This man has been my personal doctor for almost 10 years!
I am taking sertraline for my anxiety which has worked well and I haven't had an episode in about a year before that it was a few times a year (increased to 4 when I got married due to the stress of it all). Does anyone have any experience with stress related NCS? And how does it affect pregnancy? After the first five months or so I will be free for bed rest but I'm sure my pregnancy won't wait for me.
I had it with zoloft (sertraline), venlafazine and mirtazipine. With mirtazipine I found I need to sit in a cold bath to cool down and it was bliss. With zoloft it is just on my forehead, cheeks and neck. The inside of my mouth actually feels cool. when I look in the mirror my face is not flushed. I agree it feels like the membrane just under my skull has flared up. I put a cold flannel on it and again it is bliss and the accompanying headache goes.
96. I went and had more blood work done monday and still have not received a call from my doctor. I am just nervous and feel bad. I was just talking with guys at work and they never heard of men having thyroid problems, and then I check on line and it is rare. I was just wondering if anyone here knows of any men who have thyroid problems? And if my 16.96 TSH is something to be concerned about. THANKS!
After years of going to various psychiatrists, I am now taking Zoloft (generic Sertraline) and generic Buspirone (Buspar). They are both long lasting so I don't get that sudden panic feeling. I have not had chest pain in years, as long as I keep taking my medicine.
As soon as I get into a place I get so dizzy and my vision is all messed up. I get so hot and sweaty and my heart races. I want my life back. I still dont believe that its just anxiety causing all of this. I feel like I have something else wrong that the doctors cant find even though i have had bloodwork, mri, ekg, and they were all normal. I started taking .25mg of xanax once a day. still dont feel any better yet. So if anybody has any help please give it to me.
or was watching the world through a movie projector, instead of through my own eyes and mind. Therefore, I am going to share with you all what *I* know about these phenomena, and hopefully reassure some of you that this is par for the anxiety course...it while irritating, maybe even maddening...it is totally harmless. Derealization and depersonalization are two terms that are sometimes used interchangably. Truth is, they DO vary a little bit in their presentation....
This reaction appears to be most common with paroxetine, and to a lesser extent with sertraline and fluoxetine. Withdrawal has also been reported with fluvoxamine. Because this is the newest SSRI how often the withdrawal reaction occurs is unknown.
He said i should wait 2 months Incase its withdrawl from the sertraline or see an optician, despite the fact that I pressed that my vision is and has always been perfect and i've had no issues with vision during these episodes, also he totally ignored the fact I said twice that these episodes started happening a few months before i stopped taking sertraline and previous to that i had been on amytryptaline and sertraline for about 14 months with none of these episodes.
I suffered from anxiety and went for help and was quickly prescribed paxil and lexapro (different times) when it is quite possible I should have had my thyroid checked instead. I was only dx as hypo in Sept 2007 but wonder how many years I took meds for anxiety when I could have had my thyroid checked. I too suffered the side effects of the antidepressant meds....not fun at all.
Discuss this potential interaction with your healthcare provider at your next appointment, or sooner if you think you are having problems. This interaction is well-documented and is considered moderate in severity. SERTRALINE HYDROCHLORIDE (in Zoloft) may interact with PHENYTOIN (in Dilantin) Sertraline may block the breakdown of phenytoin by the liver. If this happens, blood levels of phenytoin could be increased and this could increase the risk of side effects.
i am suffering from headache, light headed, sometime blured vision, pain in my arm and legs, some times in-balance.. i visited a eye specialist they said eyes are good and to consult a neuroligist, he checked me and gave me the tablets, i would like to know for what is that tablets is it vitamin or some thing else.. Daxid 50mg Serenance .
Then a really severe one happened which involved a really bright light flashing in my vision and a loud snapping sound, that sounded like electricity or something, and that lasted less than a second and scared me half to death. When i realised that it was heavy breathing that caused it, i started to use a mediation technique I've been practicing recently to try and trigger it.
It's when I went off ALL of them that my pupil size changed and my vision got blurry for awhile. Just a guess, but it's probably the lorazepem affecting your pupil dialation.
Hi everyone, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis approxiamtely 6 months ago. In that time I have alot of ups and downs, lots of psychological and physical trials. One of the problems that is bothering me the most is the problem with my eyes. Initially, I was diagnosed with dry eyes and now take drops many times a day to keep this problem under control.
Now I am so in tuned with my body that I can usually tell when it's starting up (from changes in my vision-headaches) and I get in to my Opthamologist immediately. Please don't give up. You are not crazy! Help is out there. But just know that many Drs don't believe in Meniere's, and Pseudotumor is relatively rare/unheard of by the average Doc, so inform yourself. Good luck to you all and I hope you start feeling better real soon.
I am a 20 year-old male who has been taking Sertraline (for Dysthymia) for about six months, smokes half a pack of cigarettes a day, has frequent migraines, sometimes lasting for a day and over night, and I often feel tired during the day, but wide awake at night. I have no history of medical conditions and I also have poor eyesight which I wear contact lenses for.
One flu, that quickly recovered with Tamiflu, and one UTI with fever that left him unable to move AT ALL while he fever was up. Betaseron, baclofen, tizanidine, modafinil, and sertraline, he denies pain and numbness. It is mostly fatigue and weakness and muscle loss. I feel helpless and wish there was more we could do . I turned here to see if anyone had suggestions. Jeff and I see his Dr 7/24. Sissy you raise a very good point about insurance/diagnosis.

Hi Jules, I was on Provigil for a long time and had trouble with the raciness, etc as well. (I didnt have vision issues). What I determined was that the time of day made a huge difference for me. As you know, Provigil doesnt start working until about 5 hours after you take it. What I would do, then (as crazy as it sounds) is set my alarm for about 4:30AM, take my Provigil, then by about 9 or 10AM, I had the energy I needed.
