Common Questions and Answers about Sertraline and headaches

zoloft

Avatar f tn Hi everyone. About 2 weeks ago my medication of Levothyroxine and Sertraline was increased to Levothyroxine 100 micro grams and Sertraline 50mg. About a week after starting these I got a positive pregnancy test (I took about 3 tests just to make sure lol). I have a midwife appointment tomorrow but my symptoms have been bare to none (Only cramping, tiredness and on/off headaches). I was wondering if any of these medications can effect a pregnancy test?
Avatar f tn Just remember that there are side effects with Sertraline (Zoloft) in both the generic and brand name forms especiallly when you start, change doses, or come off of it, but for most people they are not that bad. For example I have more side effects from taking a Claritan than I ever did with Zoloft. As with any medical concerns, always keep an open channel with your doctor to express any of your concerns or questions.
Avatar m tn You have been prescribed Sertraline for mood swings and also it is working well for you, your correlation of using Sertraline and getting migraines might be ok, but it is always better to discuss with the doctor who prescribed the drug about its possible side effects and a substitute thereon. You might consult a migraine specialist also to get an evaluation and update on drug use. Try relaxation techniques to decrease stress. Keep posting your views. Take care.
Avatar n tn I had to switch to celexa like a week ago cause I figured out that it was the darn sertraline giving me headaches. Anyways, for a loooong time my libido was way way way down. Im only 20 and thats so strange for me lol after about 3 months it got better. Not like before but I could get off again. Also it helped with everything, concentration, anxiety and depression.
Avatar f tn Yup..........headaches are high on the list of side effects. When I began taking sertraline, I had headaches almost every day. They weren't horrible, I was still able to function, but they were just there, every day. And then one day they weren't. Even though headaches are also very common with Zoloft, I suggest letting your doctor know. A phone call to his nurse or PA will put your mind at rest..............when it's not aching!
Avatar m tn I'm a 30yr old male. I was on Sertraline approx 10 years ago for depression and it seemed to work until a crash. For one reason or another over the years, my treatment has changed several times. It is 2011 and i have found my way back to sertraline. I am currently taking 10mg of buspirone 2x day and 15mg of mirtazapine for major depression and generalized anxiety. I have been feeling constantly tired, apathetic and despondent.
Avatar m tn s the better choice for now) and she told me to take sertraline for a month to see If I get the wanted improvement. That was some time ago, I didn't take the sertraline then because I felt kind of scared about it because I read it is an antidepresive and I'm not depressive. Later I talked about it with a couple psychiatrists on the internet and my psychiatrist, they all told me not to be scared about it, they told me it was just to help something related to serotonin.
Avatar f tn hiya, i have just been changed from one anti depressant to another called sertraline, i have been taking it for just over a week, i have been getting terrible headaches, which feels like my head is going to blow, my skin is uncontrollably itchy to the p-oint of scratching until i bleed, i am having terrible pounding in my chest, with palpitations, not sleeping at all, feeling sick a lot, dizziness, tightness in the chest to the point of it feels like i am being choked and can not breath properly
Avatar n tn I take sertraline and have the same issue if I forget to take it. I think that's all it is and I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just take it easy and I hope you feel better.
Avatar f tn Hello everyone, three months ago I started with pgad, which is a condition that you feel unwanted sexual arousal, it is horrible, I couldn't even sleep, at some moments It goes away and others it will return. I went to more than 12 different doctors, anyone knew what was happening. I have ocd, this year is going to be my 5th year with ocd and with anxiety, with despersonalization and irreality.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking sertraline for mood swings and have been taking it for about 5 years. I also have recently been put on topamax for migraines. I have read about all this wonderful weight loss. If anything I have gained. Could these 2 medicines together be holding me back from losing> I would like to go off of the sertraline.
2932946 tn?1344722012 for me I know it is my EDS and instability and TCS.....once u know it may be easier to know how to deal with it...as I said for me the TOPAMAX works and it helps put off more surgery.
761423 tn?1237203290 Good morning everyone! I am new to MedHelp and to the group and thank you for the warm welcomes! I have a question about treatment for fibro. I was dx with it about 4 years ago. Tried the usual things like Ibuprofen and Tylenol, etc. which was temporary. Finally last month my doctor started me on Lyrica. Although the pain is diminished quite a bit, I feel like I am in a fog most of the time and it does nothing for my other symptoms, like depression/mood swings/etc.

Avatar n tn I am on 25mg sertraline, day 8 for anxiety and panic attacks - so far only really feeling the side effects and no real relief yet but am very hopeful given all the positive comments I've read online - if I can just last until it starts to kick in. Also hoping that I won't require a higher dosage.
Avatar f tn My sertraline was upped to 100mg 6 days ago. I was ok till yesterday and now I have had a bad headache then and today. My doctor has said to drop back to 50mg for a few days. I have been feeling quite well on the higher dose so don't know whether to stick it out a bit longer or not.
Avatar n tn I read Sertraline reacts with Propranolol. It makes Propranolol more toxic and can give me low BP and bradycardia. Recently my BP was a bit high (140/90) and pulse rate was 72. Shall I take the psychiatric medicines and how should I schedule the medications without suffering a lot?
Avatar m tn Next week I start on 100 mg. I had terrible headaches, dizziness, and nausea for about three and half weeks, but they've now subsided. The only side effect I experience right now is tremors in my hands. The psychiatrist didn't seem to think this was a side effect of the drug (she looked it up and said 6-11% of people taking it get tremors), but my hands didn't start shaking till I started this drug.
Avatar f tn s the bad headache part that urges me to suggest talking to your doctor. Headaches ARE a common side effect of sertraline, but we all have limits as to what we can and can't live with. You are on the lowest dose possible for this drug and unless the headaches are absolutely unbearable, I'd hate to see you give up on the Zoloft. You've already invested a month of your life.......
Avatar f tn It is a good fit. I ended up in a psych ward for 3 days because I ate a bottle of Prozac and everything else made me feel dead inside. I remember wanting to cry and my eyes actually hurting from trying and I couldn't. It sucked and I hate that people have to go through these feelings By the way, we are neighbors. I'm in Surfside!
Avatar f tn She prescribed me Nadolol (beta blocker) which I have been taking now for about a week, and I am also currently taking 75 MG of Sertraline daily. My headaches have stopped for the most part, but this pain in the top of my head hasn't gone away. It's a burning feeling and it feels like its more my scalp than my head. It hurts to comb my hair and touch my head, kind of like I've had my hair in a ponytail for too long.
Avatar n tn When I went to teac in Spain I was rediagnosed with Tension Headaches! The headaches would usually finish up with pain in my top right gums. The dentist said it was not the tooth but neuralgia. The headaches were SO bad - no med would shift them. I stopped eating cows cheese, oranges and chocolate. it helped a great deal.
1910757 tn?1348683319 After the first week or so, the adverse effects slowly disappeared and my mood improved a lot. I was honestly loving Sertraline, because it made me feel the way I was before the depressive episode and it also improved my anxiety. About two weeks ago, I started getting diarrhea. At first it didn't bother me, because I spend most of my time at home and I just though it would eventually go away like the other adverse effects.
11487567 tn?1418754128 Prozac gave her horrible headaches so this combination was recommended for her anxiety and panic attacks. Has anyone else been prescribed this mix all together and has it worked?
Avatar m tn I have considered the possibility that the methylphenidate could be causing a mild form of reynauds/vascular constriction (it does cause motteling of the hands and feet in me) and this is causing all the hand/nail changes. The sertraline may also account for the visual symptms. But neither drug is known to cause joint pain to my knowledge (or the fatigue).
Avatar f tn Mainly from no sleep and not eating. Headaches now could be tension and fear.. Hopefully they will stop. Please speak to your Doctor..
