Sertraline and headaches

Common Questions and Answers about Sertraline and headaches

zoloft

hiya, i have just been changed from one anti depressant to another called sertraline, i have been taking it for just over a week, i have been getting terrible headaches, which feels like my head is going to blow, my skin is uncontrollably itchy to the p-oint of scratching until i bleed, i am having terrible pounding in my chest, with palpitations, not sleeping at all, feeling sick a lot, dizziness, tightness in the chest to the point of it feels like i am being choked and can not breath properly
Speech slurring is minimal, and if I just take a sort of mental breather it goes away quickly, lightheadedness seems to come on after I've been walking around and it dies down if I take a seat or lie down, I get disoriented if I move quickly- like if I turn my head quickly to the side when in conversation with a group or something, the headaches and nausea don't seem to have a trigger for me, and it's something that I just ride out.
Hope you sort the depression out as I myself am a sertraline user and for the record I do drink from time to time and it can definately leave me feeling a little worse for a couple of days after drinking.
Just remember that there are side effects with Sertraline (Zoloft) in both the generic and brand name forms especiallly when you start, change doses, or come off of it, but for most people they are not that bad. For example I have more side effects from taking a Claritan than I ever did with Zoloft. As with any medical concerns, always keep an open channel with your doctor to express any of your concerns or questions.
Next week I start on 100 mg. I had terrible headaches, dizziness, and nausea for about three and half weeks, but they've now subsided. The only side effect I experience right now is tremors in my hands. The psychiatrist didn't seem to think this was a side effect of the drug (she looked it up and said 6-11% of people taking it get tremors), but my hands didn't start shaking till I started this drug.
My doctor told me that Sertraline and Zoloft both have the same ingredients but the pharmacutical companies can make them differently. I too notice a difference in how I feel taking Zoloft vs. Sertraline. I like Sertraline better though because I don't feel as numbed out and my sex drive is not affected.
You have been prescribed Sertraline for mood swings and also it is working well for you, your correlation of using Sertraline and getting migraines might be ok, but it is always better to discuss with the doctor who prescribed the drug about its possible side effects and a substitute thereon. You might consult a migraine specialist also to get an evaluation and update on drug use. Try relaxation techniques to decrease stress. Keep posting your views. Take care.
It is also used to treat or prevent heart attack, and to reduce the severity and frequency of migraine headaches. Anytime we start a new medication there can be side effects the first week or two as our bodies adapt to the medication. You should call your doctor and ask if these are side effects you should be concerned with......he wants and needs to know how you're doing, so don't hesitate to call him. Take care.
Has anyone else found this to be true? I'm not spiraling into complete dispair for which I think I have the sertraline to thank and my mind that was once so full of intrusive thoughts and ruminations is clear again, normal reactions & emotions are returning, my sex drive is back (!) so it's definitely working on a lot if levels. Has anyone got any thoughts on the anxiety thing? Thank you.
I just switched from sertraline to Wellbutrin XL about 4 days ago, so I do not believe the headaches are related to that. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I'm taking antidepressants (sertraline, 100mgs a day) and see a psychologist weekly. I often get bad headaches behind my left eye and feel dizzy along with constant fatigue. I ignored it because I thought it was due to depression until recently I've been getting nosebleeds more frequently after only having one once. I also feel nauseous a lot of the time but have only vomited once or twice. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could possibly be wrong? Thanks for your time.
for me I know it is my EDS and instability and TCS.....once u know it may be easier to know how to deal with it...as I said for me the TOPAMAX works and it helps put off more surgery.
I don't know if I'm being paranoid but I had a really bad headache all of yesterday and it didn't go away with painkillers, and it was still there this morning but i took two ibuprofen and it cleared up. This is very strange for me as I do get alot of headaches because of stress and sleep deprivation but they usually go away once I get sleep. I'm also on Zimovane and Sertraline, could these have an effect on the pill?
I take my antidepressants but after 15 plus years I feel like I just want to give up! I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired!!!! I just want to feel happy and normal and NOT in pain or TIRED! If anyone has any idea of where i can turn for help, please let me know. This is the first time in 20 years of fighting with this that I actually feel like I can't take it anymore, maybe my family will be better off....
I am a 19 year old female who within the last 2 years have been having severe cluster headaches, and recently developed into lightheadedness. It's always behind my eyes and on my shoulders. I'm almost constantly lightheaded. My doctor diagnosed me with depression and put me on sertraline which helped a little but there coming back worse then ever.
I take them about 8 hours a part and I am nauseated, with headaches in the middle of the night and early morning, with sleeplessness. Is one interfering with the other? How will I ever know if depression is subsiding from levothyroxin, if I stay on generic Zoloft? I am wondering if I am in Pandora's Box.
Ok, I went to the psychiatrist (I feel it's the better choice for now) and she told me to take sertraline for a month to see If I get the wanted improvement. That was some time ago, I didn't take the sertraline then because I felt kind of scared about it because I read it is an antidepresive and I'm not depressive.
Now it's too the point to where its like I'm having a really good day and I'm full of energy and happiness and then I get tired and all of a sudden I become really depressed and anti-social to the point that it hurts and I have a heavy feeling on myself. I was told it takes 3 to 4 weeks to start seeing results, which I believe, but to be honest I'm getting impatient now because I'm tired of having these really depressing feelings and thoughts go through my head all the time.
I know stomach problems can be a side effect of SSRIs. I have never had a very strong stomach regardless, and my father and sister have similar problems. I have also found that certain foods trigger episodes - onion, tomatoes, mayonnaise, soya, wholemeal bread, garlic, oily foods. The symptoms seem to worsening. I have diarrhoea around 4-5 days a week. I get a 20 second 'abdominal cramp' warning - and several times have not been able to reach a toilet.
I was also taking Lyrica and didn't like the side-effects. Neurontin, I enjoyed less. I had taken Cymbalta previously and noticed a difference in the pain level quickly. You may do well with this. I'm taking the Sertraline now, but do not notice any change in the level of pain with this med. The Cymbalta worked better for me there. I hope you find the right combo to help you and you are feeling better soon. Take care.
my symptoms are (and im sure i will miss a few) dizzyness, lightheadedness, blurry vision ,rapid or slow heart rate, confusion, heart / chest pain, tight chest and throat, lack of oxygen, vomiting, pins and needles all over body, skiping heart beat, headaches, numbness in arms, leggs, face, hands, and lips. musckle weakness to the point i cant even stand or walk...the list can go on forever. im taking 3 medications to help controll it but everyday is a strugle. so for all sufferers....
After the first week or so, the adverse effects slowly disappeared and my mood improved a lot. I was honestly loving Sertraline, because it made me feel the way I was before the depressive episode and it also improved my anxiety. About two weeks ago, I started getting diarrhea. At first it didn't bother me, because I spend most of my time at home and I just though it would eventually go away like the other adverse effects.
Who knows? I also have extreme fatigue alot, headaches and heart palpitations, and alot of stomach issues. I also pass kidney stones frequently(not sure that is related). I could probably name 50 more if I could remember them all at once.LOL! I wish you the best in your journey to good mental and physical health.
I am getting depressed because of this and my behaviour has changed My back, neck hurt all the time I have never ending headaches that usually sit about a 8 on 10 on a pain scale with the odd migraine and barely a moment with relief My vision is getting worse when watching tv the words on the tv look double etc etc etc I could keep going here, so you guessed it my doctor put me on so many antidepressants and other pills I was taking 17 pills a day, this is before and test were conducted an
I've been on tramadol for severe headaches related to glandular fever (extended) and a chronic sinus infection as well as migraine headaches. I use tramadol because it is the only pain medication that works. I was a very healthy young woman. I worked out at least 9 times a week and was working towards competing in an upcoming body sculpting competition.
It's like a cycle Seems like everyday now I have a panic attack whether at work or not. Insomnia, headaches, itchy skin mainly my legs, foggy thinking, and lack of concentration. I have lived with most of these symptoms for about 10 years except the anxiety which has finally told me that I need help. I found out that I have a family history of hypo and that on my mom's side 4 of her siblings have it, my sister and my brother have it.
The sertraline lol now I take celexa and its not really making me feel too different from the sertraline but, im always all over my bf now ahaha and as for the anxiety the sertraline basically killed that monster lol
