It depends on the specific person but Seroquel does have strong mood stabilization effects. It was complex for myself as a person with schizoaffective disorder or people I knew with bipolar with psychotic features as there a mood stabilizer and an antipsychotic was neccessary. With straight bipolar Seroquel being an FDA approved mood stabilizer should work at a therapeutic dose. You can see if at a proper dose you can tolerate the akathesia.

But never exceeded 100. Today I took 150 till now and will reach 200 by night.

Hello, I have been reading a lot lately about the side effects of Seroquel. The one that concerns me the most is the diabetes. I am obese and diabetes runs in my family. I even have a brother that is insulin dependent. I am wondering if I should get off this drug? Does the diabetes continue even after the drug is discontinued? Is there another antipsychotic I could take that does not have this side effect? Thank you so much for your time.

i am on 150mg seroquel and can't by any means reduce it. Each time i try i fail. I am worried about one day i may have to up my dose like some do. Somehow astra zeneca is marketing it agressively because pdocs around the world advise it seemingly these days and is the preferred drug. In its pamphlet it says 400-600 the therapeutic dose. I don't believe anymore in this terminology as therapeutic. each individual has his own dose.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend starting college right now. Personally, I wouldn't be able to make it. I couldn't even get my oil changed today because of the extreme pain, visual issues, and vomiting and flu like symptoms. It entirely depends on your body, how long you have been taking it, and how high your dose was.

In 2011 it rose to 6 billions. If the average intake is 200mg daily/person costing some 700-1000 $ /year (based on average cost) then you have some 5 millions at least using it worldwide.

I wonder why you are writing the generic names of drugs. I know quetiapine the generic of seroquel appeared lately this year as Astra zeneca doesn't possess the patent anymore but the brand lamictal still exists for lamotrigine. Sometimes the brand name is more potent but usually the generics are cheaper i suppose.

Incidentally, I believed that MEDCO has issues with Astra Zeneca; the substitute medications are of equal cost, but are of UNEQUAL effectiveness for me.

I was on lithium and seroquel. Worked wonders. Im only on seroquel now cuz im pennant and it.still works but not as.

Seroquel has now worked for 3 nights of sleep. I take clonazapam and lamtrogine. What could I add as decrease 1 of these? Is tegretol a good choice? Long ago I took lithium, but ballooned up in weight. Suggestions to discuss w/my doctor?

Does it really work? Because I have been given 10mg Diazepam and it hasn't helped that much with W/D's or stop the attacks. I have posted about this before and someone suggested that if I can't get Clonidine I should try to get Seroquel. I take 200 mg of seroquel to help me sleep if i cut it in half will it still help me fall asleep!! I only have 12 days left of seroquel and i can't see the doctor until the 8th of next month so i'm freaking out about not being able to sleep!! Please help!!

I ran across something on the net about Seroquel. It was another forum that I got the info about Seroquel. On this forum someone was talking about there being a tort action lawsuit against the makers of Seroquel. That it is causing excessive weight gain, diabetes, very high blood pressure in people taking this antipsychotic. I am wanting to know further about these complications caused by Seroquel. My 28 year old son has been on this med for approximately 4 years now.

I just started Seroquel. The first tab last night. I felt so trippy. It scared me and I made myself go to sleep just to avoid the experience I was having. I also heard it causes crazy weight gain. Is that true? Right now I feel nausea.

Hi my name is Mike and my wife is now currently in the hospital from overdose of seroquel and maybe other medications that she might have.

My sub doc gave me Seroquel. He said it was for bi-polar, but he gave it to me at 50mgs. for sleep and it really helped me sleep, just a bite out of one at night. He also said that it would linger or last through the day to help with the anxiety/depression. I don't think that has worked as I'm still a basket case. jk...

If Seroquel is being prescribed as a sleep aid yes, within a psychiatrist's discretion. If its being used as a mood stabilizer then it would have to be taken every day though the timing could vary. If someone can't tolerate it at all as regards any sedation then other available options could be discussed with a psychiatrist.

My doctor has recommended Seroquel for my insomnia. Since i am a parkinsons patient, I was wondering if this ,might make my parkinsons worse?

the doctor put my husband on seroquel for anxiety. i was on them last year from my psychiatrist for sleep. of course i can't gauge how they worked because i was just adding them to the stew as it were. his are extended release. mine were not. the doctor gave him samples to last 1 month. he seems to be doing well on them, but i know my husband. these are going to be expensive even with insurance.
