Seroquel withdrawal symptoms side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel withdrawal symptoms side effects

seroquel

Avatar f tn My Doctor just switch my medication from 150 mg of Effexor XR to 400 mg of Seroquel XR. I dropped my dosage of Effexor gradually but I still experienced terrible withdrawl. Now I am experiencing bad side effects, " I'm guessing ths", from the Seroquel. I have gained weight in my stomach area very rapidly, I have pain and stiffness in my legs, 24 hour dry mouth and sinuses and I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat.
Avatar f tn He said the phenobarbital will not prevent a constellation of neurological withdrawal symptoms. My main worry is if it could be Tardives dyskinesia or beneign essential blepharospasm due to the use of Seroquel for 10 days with other meds. How great is the risk of taking it for 10 days? I think the dosage was 25 - 50 mg. a day. Would it be likely to show up this long after using it? I have been tapering off the Vistaril and Trazadone the past 2-3 weeks.
Avatar f tn Yes I had some of those side effects (sometimes called "flu like withdrawal symptoms") even when I titrated off Seroquel to another medication under psychiatric supervision. This definitely would occur discontinuing it all at once. In time they would pass but this should be done under medical supervision and whatever they are treating will return with more intensity than before due to the sudden discontinuation.
Avatar f tn I'm so sorry that you were prescribed this for insomnia. That should have never happened. This is an antipsychotic and should only be prescribed for such illness. 700mg is an incredibly high dose to just stop taking it at, even though you've only been taking it for a month. Unfortunately, most doctors don't know the withdrawal effects or how long it lasts because they weren't taught that and that wasn't studied, so it's really hard to find articles online about it.
Avatar m tn My question is, are the symptoms I experience side effects of Depakote or withdrawal from Xanax???? Please help me!!!!! I am sttill taking .5 Xanax Xr in the mn and .5 in the evening so it is still there, I've just reduced the dosage!!! I also take small dosage of 600mg lithium, 25mg of lamictal and 2.5mg o Lexapro a day. Most of them my pdoc wants to get rid off. Thanks!!
Avatar n tn Why are the withdrawal symptoms of seroquel the same as the withdrawal symptoms of heroin? I know that you shouldn't just stop taking it and I understand that it is a non-narcotic medication, but I still would like to know why the symptoms are the same? I am currently taking seroquel for anxiety.
Avatar n tn Went to my dr. today and he changed my meds. Took me off Zxprexa 20 mg and put me on Geodon 80 mg . I''m hopeful that I want have any any withdrawal symptoms. If there are any symptoms what should I be on the look out for?
Avatar f tn I'm taking Geodon and it can cause headaches and nausea as it's side effects. It also causes this really badly if you go through withdrawal from it. It may pass eventually as your body gets used to it but if not and it's unbearable you'll need to change medications. It was good that you took acetaminophen for your headache, hopefully it worked for you and numbed it. I had the dizziness and such from it as soon as I started taking it but that wore off after a few weeks for me.
Avatar f tn Well, I am no doctor, but it does not take a genius to figure out that when all of these side effects happen within weeks of starting this medication, that the medication is the cause. Over the years I have had a horrible time trying to lose weight. I am usually very skinny and I have tried EVERYTHING to lose weight and nothing has worked!
2010625 tn?1329372056 After I have been awake for a while they have slowly went away I am still a tiny bit dizzy, and drowsy still after 2 cups of coffee I just feel like I am not waking up still feel half asleep. Does anyone know if these side effects are serious or if it is something that will go away as I get use to the medication. I know I should be asking my doctor these questions but it is the weekend and my doctor is not in his office until Monday.
Avatar n tn Doing so can cause major withdrawals and horrible side effects. I have a link that tells you all about seroquel. I do not reccomend you read it, as it will only scare you off it. I did not even look closely at the page. But I will leave it up to you. Blessings - Blu http://www.rxlist.com/seroquel-side-effects-drug-center.
Avatar n tn Secondly even in transfering to another medication you will get some withdrawal symptoms as I did in the past when transfering from Seroquel to Risperdal which were fatigue and minor flu like withdrawal symptoms which pased in time and were not a problem. Follow your psychiatrist's titration schedule and ask them about available options.
1246883 tn?1285547973 I immediately started to gain weight. And stopped the Seroquel immediately (mid Dec). I know this is one of the side effects. I gained about 5lbs. Being 5'9" and weighing 135, I felt the 5 extra pounds would come off with eating better and a few more yoga classes . But the weight kept coming. I got down to a dietary intake of about 1000 cals. But that mad no difference.
Avatar m tn No i would say you are the only person, i believe these kind of problem are common with these types of medication.
Avatar n tn I felt it the first time off but have been back on twice and had no side effects with withdrawal, nothing at all. SO who knows what to expect? You say you are taking some other drugs as well but don't say if they are legit or street. Either way please don't mix without doc's knowledge, it's a certain disaster looming if so. It's not the Wellbutrin, it's Effexor withdrawals.
Avatar n tn If someone goes off medication so rapidly then withdrawal symptoms will definitely occur. However, even when I was titrated off Seroquel to Risperdal at the exact rate my psychiatrist stated I had flu like withdrawal symptoms that passed after a while but I did feel sick and have to rest up.
Avatar m tn I have found Seraquel to be very beneficial although I don't know how. I sleep if I have it before 6 pm which helps my BP that suffers from insomnia. But aside from that I only know that something is working. The last few months would have been very difficult as I lost my mum-in-law whom I was very close to and my sister went away as an aid worker overseas for 6 months. Not very helpful sorry but I don't have any side effects.
534105 tn?1226157177 If you look up Quetiapine withdrawal symptoms, the list is LONG and contains extremely unpleasant physical and mental side effects. I don’t reslly know why your doctor wouldn’t have you slowly come off of it with such a strong medication and I’m not surprised that you felt really crappy. In my opinion it’s not only unwise in respects to your process of overcoming your illness, but very dangerous with the withdrawal symptoms it can give.
Avatar m tn Additionally melatonin and Gasx/peppermint oil can help relieve a lot of the side effects of Seroquel withdrawal. Flexiril can help with the twitching and spasms. I'm going through my third time withdrawaling from Seroquel, this time I was up to 1200mg for about the last five or six years. I've been stepping down every two weeks for about four months. At first it isn't that bad but when you get to around half of your previous dose you will start to notice major withdrawal symptoms.
1258539 tn?1293840202 You doctor may be able to make changes that will produce fewer or more acceptable side-effects. Talk to your doctor.
Avatar f tn m scared that I will get antipsychotic-withdrawal-induced tardive dyskenisia. What are the symptoms of withdrawal and how would withdrawal TD manifest itself? Can anyone who has tapered-off antipsychotics tell me about their experience? I am also afraid that I might not be stable enough with only lithium, which would make my psychiatrist want to put me back on Seroquel, which I DO NOT want.
534105 tn?1226157177 I am now struggling with anxiety and mild insomnia mainly due to withdrawal. Dr. wants me to take 25mg of Seroquel (quetiapine) per day. Do you think this is a good decision? I do not want to be addicted or dependent on any psych drug, and I have heard that quetiapine also is a drug that causes addiction and withdrawal symptoms..
574118 tn?1305135284 "Mood stabilizer" is actually a really bad term because so many researchers have been using different definitions. To some, it means anything that takes out mania, including lithium, anticonvulsants, AAPs, etc. To others, it's only the anticonvulsants that help with bipolar, and they keep AAPs out. Or pick pretty much any permutation of that.
Avatar m tn Does stopping Risperidone give rise to a withdrawal reaction?.If so what are the symptoms?.
