736475 tn?1281259327 does anyone have info about long term use of seroquel and how it affects you? my hubby tried to stop taking it and got all messed up. they are 50mg xr. thanks.
574118 tn?1305135284 monotherapy and only AP approved for depression etc... What is the exact I mean the EXACT meaning of a mood stabilizer. Some would say seroquel is one, but I began to wonder. OR else I am getting worse perhaps: 1. 12 years ago, it was depression only (took antidepressant+risperidal) 2. with an antidepressant only (didn't know yet my case I was trying to stop medications) after a while got mania (things changed since then) 3. so added again the risperdal 4.
Avatar n tn I still feel the electric shocks and muscle aches from the withdrawal of my previous antidepressant (paroxetine) and I started getting a pounding heartfrom the seroquel. I went to see my gp who reduced my seroquel to seroquel xl 50 mg and I am to go back in a week to her, while I do not see the psychiatrist again for 5 weeks. My palpitations have stopped but the mood swings and depression have returned to just how they were before I reduced the dose. I do not know what to do..
534105 tn?1226157177 It's hard to say. If it lingers, I'd go back on the Seroquel at the last dose at which you felt fine and do the taper. And get a new psychiatrist -- you want one who is always looking out for you, not one who is in a hurry. Anyone can have a withdrawal reaction, as it's so individual a thing, even if the conditions are such that most people won't get them. Maybe you were one who did.
Avatar f tn I'm so sorry that you were prescribed this for insomnia. That should have never happened. This is an antipsychotic and should only be prescribed for such illness. 700mg is an incredibly high dose to just stop taking it at, even though you've only been taking it for a month. Unfortunately, most doctors don't know the withdrawal effects or how long it lasts because they weren't taught that and that wasn't studied, so it's really hard to find articles online about it.
1255936 tn?1296623461 Yes I know I need to maybe start seeing a good Psychiatrist to get to the bottom of my Anxiety and Depression. Doc suggested Seroquel and starting on a very low dose...to aid with my Effexor. My problem is that the Anxiety is bad...effecting my work and life in general. I am frustrated with taking baby steps. What is the dose for treatment of such disorders and not just a low dose for sleeping?
Avatar f tn I also taking seroquel, lamictal, lexapro and l tyrosine for bipolar depression. Do u think the withdrawal from the tramadol will be bad? Should I taper? What should I expect? Please help me. I'm scared. Thanks.

Avatar n tn Had any experience with seroquel addiction or withdrawal?? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for listening.
874521 tn?1424116797 s depression which is responsible for the acknowledged 20% mortality in BP whether in BP1 or 2 especially the latter very pronounced. Now lamictal is good for depression so is seroquel which is often used as a monotherapy because it has an antidepressant effect. In mania seroquel is best, don't say lithium or tegretol, remember that in lithium NOT only drink a lot of water but plenty of water with flush it out, too cumbersome. Seroquel is best.
607502 tn?1288247540 good for depression, plus little side effects like weight gain and rashes rare) while seroquel works downwards (strong antimanic) also one is AC while the 2nd an AP so a flower from every garden and they must equalize each other. So I tried lamictal and to be on the safe side, i took the chewable infantile of 2mg only ( i.e. not an increase in dose of 50mg like the usual every other week). I felt so great even under this dose and stated to increase it by 2mg every week.
Avatar n tn Why are the withdrawal symptoms of seroquel the same as the withdrawal symptoms of heroin? I know that you shouldn't just stop taking it and I understand that it is a non-narcotic medication, but I still would like to know why the symptoms are the same? I am currently taking seroquel for anxiety.
574118 tn?1305135284 probably i am BP1, still i can't tell because depression is still a big issue but under an antidepressant i switch easily. my drugs are: seroquel 50mg (AP) risperidone 1mg (AP) stelazine 1mg (typical AP) stablon (AD) smaller dose since my 1st mania 4 years ago and things are getting worse but more or less i function - of course badly - but life is going on. Until 3 months ago when after a swine flu i became unstable and oscillating more frequently.
574118 tn?1305135284 Extremely grateful If seroquel (my seroquel) helps dissipating fears as you said, then I am shooting 2 birds with one bullet. God bless you ILADVOCATE, you are always there to boost my morale our morale. incidentally, i am in a mania right now and taking seroquel to extinguish it, usually i take 50mg at most daily, but in mania i increase the dose. But never exceeded 100. Today I took 150 till now and will reach 200 by night.
Avatar f tn Tired of all the side effects 3 months ago i quit cold turkey. Ive had suicidal depression everyday for the past 3 months. I never had depression this severe b4 the amitriptlyne. For the insomnia ive tried trazadone zopiclone seroquel clonazapam...havent gotten any sleep for the past 3 months. I cant think and my mind is constantly thinking i want to shoot myself. I can handle the body pains, the hot flashes, everything about the withdrawl except my mind going crazy.
Avatar m tn He's depressed,in my opinion. The Prozac may need to be tweaked a little bit. It's,also,a bit early for PAWS so I'd say it's that awful depression that comes after the physical withdrawal. Seroquel ??. Does he need that? It's an anti psychotic,I thought and can make him really dim. How about a visit with the doctor next week? In the meantime,be sure he's eating and drinking. It makes a huge difference. Force him to get outside for short walks.
Avatar f tn i have suffered with anxiety and depression for over 30 years. i have been on valium for 10 years. it helped the anxiety but not the depression. last week my stress was so high i felt like a nervous breakdown. my dr. prescribed seroquel 25 to 50 mg five days ago. for the first time i do not feel dpressed or anxiety. i stopped taking the valium when i started the seroquel. my valium has been a very high dose 60mg a day. will i get withdrawl symptoms from stopping the valium?
Avatar m tn A physician may be able to prescribe you some Neurontin (gabapentin) for general malaise, anxiety and muscle cramps, Requip for the restless leg syndrome and possibly something like Seroquel low dose for the insomnia. The reason for this longer depression and insomnia symptoms is because Tramadol, besides affecting the opioid receptors, has an effect on the serotonin receptors in the central nervous system.
Avatar n tn Cymbalta can work wonders for some people that have depression. It's one of the more stimulating meds though. Seroquel used to be used more for bi-polar but is being used more often now for depression. Did your Dr explain why they wanted you to take this med combo? I do agree with SassyLassie. Call the pharmacy because they'll know if you can takes these meds together safely.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, I would not recommend starting college right now. Personally, I wouldn't be able to make it. I couldn't even get my oil changed today because of the extreme pain, visual issues, and vomiting and flu like symptoms. It entirely depends on your body, how long you have been taking it, and how high your dose was.
Avatar f tn I never went off them, but does anyone know if this heps with Vicodin withdrawal? I aso suffer from depression and Wellbutrin is supposed to help with that also. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn Actually, people with anxiety have incredibly varying physiological symptoms, while withdrawal causes more uniform problems. Insomnia, for example, is an almost universal problem of withdrawal but is not for anxiety. The way I look at it, if emotional problems are different after quitting a med than they were before starting it and the only thing that happened was different is stopping the med, the most logical answer is the med.
Avatar f tn However, I did read an article published by the maker of Seroquel acknowledging withdrawal symptoms. If word comes out that Seroquel is physically addicting and causes horrible withdrawals, people probably wouldn't be eager to take it and sales of the drug could drop. Seroquel is huge right now, this website is covered in ads for Seroquel. As far as the insomnia, I took Seroquel before bed because of how sedating it was for me. After 2.
Avatar f tn Seroquel can cause temporary movement disorder such as akathesia and dystonia that can be treated with a side effect pill but what you are describing sounds more like withdrawal symptoms and ones of concern so you should speak to your psychiatrist as soon as possible.
Avatar m tn I would only imagine that the physician, who has been prescribing you the Tramadol so freely, should be willing to help you taper it and help you with the side effects of the withdrawals that you will be experiencing. I would not recommend stopping it cold turkey as the withdrawal from it is essentially the same as the one for the opiates. It usually takes several weeks of the really nasty symptoms followed by several more of just insomnia and general weakness and depression.
