Seroquel vs trazadone

Common Questions and Answers about Seroquel vs trazadone

seroquel

Avatar m tn I am not liking the side effects on seroquel. So I am now going on Trazadone? I am addicted to benzos, so I can't take them. Does anyone know anything about trazadone for sleep/anxiety?
Avatar n tn So i am day 10 of being sober off of a 6 year vicodin habit of 40 tabs of 750mg a day and cant get more than 3 hours of sleep a night. I just got a script from my doc for Seroquel and he says it will help with my sleep and anxiety. But he says it will be about 3-4 days of feeling pretty poor. I am feeling better every day and the last thing i want to do is go through 4 days of feeling like c r a p. I have tried Lunesta, melatonin and benadryl with no luck.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Lorazepam for anxiety last Dec.-June. (2 mg a day for 4 of 6 mo.) I became addicted & could not taper off it myself so went to a detox center. They gave me phenobarbital since I reacted to the other benzos, plus Seroquel, Vistaril, & Trazadone. The detox was for 10 days and it was almost 3 months ago. I have been experiencing muscle twitching the past few weeks all over my body & some eye blinking.
1203197 tn?1265555829 that is why I am taking trazadone to get me off the seroquel. I no longer take the seroquel. my appetite is out of control and I am getting up in the middle of the night eating sometimes with no recoloection that I did so. my biggest concern is that I do not get the benefit of taking cymbalta because what I take at night (trazadone) saps my strength energy and focus through out the day.
1039200 tn?1314912008 I take 400mg of Seroquel, but sometimes that is not enough to sleep so I take one or two 50 mg tablets of Trazadone (Desyrel is the name brand). The trazadone knocks me out and my pdoc says it allows the brain to go through all the stages of sleep. What's strange is that when I am on 300mg of Seroquel I get really angry. I looked up Seroquel induced anger and there are a lot of people that get that.
Avatar f tn I am on Zoloft and seroquel for bipolar. How much sleep should i get at night to feel good in the morning? I've been asleep for almost twelve hours and woken up dead tired to the point that I'll turn my alarm off and not get up... Help?
Avatar n tn I had anxiety before going to bed so I took ativan. I also took my seroquel and trazodone. Will I be ok?
Avatar m tn Neither trazadone nor seroquel are intended to help people sleep. They sometimes have that as an unwanted side effect (drowsiness), but their intended purpose is otherwise. Using them for sleep is hit or miss, because as we all know antidepressants and antipsychotics produce different side effects in different people.
Avatar f tn Seroquel can cause temporary movement disorder such as akathesia and dystonia that can be treated with a side effect pill but what you are describing sounds more like withdrawal symptoms and ones of concern so you should speak to your psychiatrist as soon as possible.
202665 tn?1248806733 I've had the same problem... there's a certain window of opportunity for the Ambien to take effect... and if you don't snatch it, then you can feel wired, but tired at the same time. you might want to have your doc prescribe the Ambien CR instead, it's a controlled release and I find that it works pretty well... Also, may want to try Lunesta, if the Ambien is no longer working for you... but those drugs are supposed to be for temporary use only...
Avatar f tn ve been stable for 6 years on Seroquel and I learned how to use Trazadone as a sleep aide. The name brand is Desyrel generic is Trazadone. My doctor prescribes it as 50 mg and I can take one or two for insomnia. This prevents my mania, as it usaully starts out as not sleeping. I've heard of some people going 15 years without a manic episode. The right medication will prevent it and stay away from caffeine.
Avatar m tn I have a terrible time with not sleeping. When I work I work the evening shift so my body clock may be trained to stay up almost all night I'm not sure. I have tried Atarax....it gives me too bad a hangover can't function next day. Tonight is my first night trying trazadone. I pray it works. I've tried all the relaxation meditation stuff. I just don't sleep between midnight and 8am like the rest of the world. Anyone with experience I welcome your feedback.
2080404 tn?1643113754 I have BPD and Bipolar disorder and have been on Lithium, Trazadone, Tegretol, Prozac, Zoloft, Lamictal, Seroquel, Ambien, and Abilify. They seem to work but they still don't stop the cycles enough, I'll have more okay days but will have two or three depressed or manic, all within a week. That's not counting the anxiety attacks that make me dissociate.
574118 tn?1305135284 I am on risperidone 1mg, seroquel 150mg (a strange combo) which worked well. So i removed 25mg seroquel. I resemble this by throwing one bag of sand to lift the balloon. My 2 questions: -- If I keep throwing more bags, is it OK so long it lifts me up. But suppose this doesn't lift me up in the end, but helps me to survive, is this OK as far as BP handling is concerned, i.e. should I take anything even though I can more or less handle my problems.
Avatar m tn First, none of us here are experts, assuming anyone is really an expert on pharmaceuticals, but most of us have certainly taken our share of them. TD in my understanding, which you're saying your doc says is wrong, is much more likely on any antipsychotic than it would be on any ssri. TD is one of those Parkinson's like side effects that is most likely connected with dopamine, not serotonin.
Avatar f tn 25 clonzepam and 25mg doxepin. Nothing puts me out. I was previously on 200mg Seroquel, 25 trazadone and 1mg clonzepam. i didn't get much sleep with this either. I don't know how to get off these medications if I cant sleep much. Has anyone experienced this? Or can anyone advise me? Ive seen a naturopathic, pychartist whose putting me on amino acids. I do get 3 hours that way. I know I have to get off these medications. I want to go back to my normal self again. I'm now on .
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed seroquel "off-label" for sleep for a long time, but I dont like being on it because it really is powerful like being hit with a jackhammer and is hard to shake off the next day. It has a hangover effect. But it is the only thing that has worked for me with my sleep problems thus i have stayed on it. Also the side effects of weight gain and some other negative side effects are the reason I would love to get off of it.
420308 tn?1203041262 During those 10 years I was prescribed a number of different combinations of medications like Risperdal, Trazadone, Paxil, Trileptal, Klonopin, Geodon, to name a few. Some of those combinations had horrible side effects and never really relieved my anxiety or depression. Now I'm on 112.5mg of Effexor ER, 200mg of Lamictal, 60 mg of Buspar, 1200 mg of Neurontin, 600mg of Seroquel and .5 mg of Xanax ER as needed.
Avatar n tn is anyone on saphris? my pdoc changed me from seroquel and abilify to this new med, which i start tonight. the other 2 was causing my blood sugar and pressure to start going up. i felt fine taking this combo but don't want to take 2 more meds for blood sugar and blood pressure.
Avatar m tn He is currently on seroquel, Prozac and Xanax along with trazadone at bedtime. These meds are all prescribed meds. Is he still undergoing withdrawal symptoms, is this PAWS?, or is something else going on. I've posted here before and you guys have been great. I really need your help again.
17746161 tn?1459714227 I'm not real sure about the sweets craving....I think that's probably more an issue with your blood sugar. But I do want to ask....to make sure I'm understanding correctly....your at 0.13mg per day...right? How long have you been taking that low of a dose? Days or weeks? My next question (or statment) would have to be that your taking WAY MORE drugs to maintain than necessary at that dose??? Klonopin, Trazadone, Seroquel, Gabapertine???? Jesus Christ...
