2176476 tn?1338605299 I am currently taking Risperdal, Lamictal, Lithium, and Lexapro. I was on Seroquel XR for quite sometime, but switched back to Risperdal because 1) it is a heck of a lot cheaper, and 2) it really worked well for me, even better than Seroquel. I believe in the fact that medications work quite differently for everyone. I personally have not had any issues with my current combination.
Avatar m tn Well i got unwell only by taking seroquel then i started to take risperdal. I scare with risperdal. Well i have past 1 year experience of risperadal. According to my experience it made me hard at first and at the end, i got energy less, and sexual problem. Frankly i didnot enjoy even masturbation and sperm even didnot come. But doctor told you have to take this medicine for long time seroquel is not good.
Avatar n tn I was on risperdal for a few months before this started, prozac for about a month or 2 and seroquel for 4 years- for sleep issues. The only thing new in the mix was the risperdal so we are thinking that is what has caused it. I switched to the klonipin on friday and already I feel better than with the xanax- I feel much more even throughout the day.
2010625 tn?1329372056 Seroquel, Ziprexa, Zeldox (Geodone in the US), and Abilify would be the alternatives to Risperadol. Risperadol made me lactate! Wow was that every weird. It really messes with the girly hormones. I taken all the above and had to quit them for weird side effects. I now take Abilify and it has changed my world. I am doing better than I ever have. It was harsh to start though. It made my stomach so sore for a couple of months. Really bad. But it does great things for my brain.
2010625 tn?1329372056 hi i take seroquel xr and normal seroquel for bipolar disorder. the seroquel xr is a slow release tablet so it works over the night and the day. so i take the seroquel xr 450mg at about 7.30pm then at about 9.30pm i take the normal seroquel 250mg. it helps with sleep too.
Avatar m tn I would want to know from the members of this forum about how many people are using Seroquel only as a sleeping aid in doses of 25 mg and 50 mg.All suggestions and answers are welcome.
Avatar f tn I found Risperdal fairly tolerable. Seroquel was somewhat more sedating and Zyprexa extremely so. The side effects I got are common to all (current) antipsychotics. The more important thing is if you can't tolerate Risperdal and need an antipsychotic you could ask your psychiatrist about changing to a different one. Even though they all basically work in the same manner they are different enough that one might easily be tolerable for you than another.
Avatar n tn a small dose of seroquel helps in this matter
Avatar f tn When I was transferred from Seroquel to Risperdal (at the titration rate my psychiatrist instructed me to follow) it took me several weeks of what I was told were "flu like withdrawal symptoms" (not unsafe but just uncomfortable) for them to subside. This has happened with other medications as well.
Avatar m tn I am currently on depakote and seroquel, but got doubts on the seroquel, cause i hear bad things about all antipsychotics. now my question....is this permanent? The doc took me off the risperdal last month. my last shot waS ON AUGUST 11TH. When will this end? Will i ever get my emotions back? How long is this supposed to last? i am only 41, i am supposed to have a good life ahead of me, but now i feel like it has ended.
Avatar m tn I had very very very good luck with Risperdal combined with Zoloft. I was able to even come off both for 6 years without issue. That is something you need to discuss with your pdoc though and work on tapering under the pdoc's care. Anyway, I found that Risperdal was a game changer and 99.9% of my fears subsided. Best of luck!!!
Avatar m tn All antipsychotics except Clozaril can cause tardive dyskinesia. Risperdal and Seroquel are antipsychotics. Tradazone can as well. What may appear to be tics could be tardive tourreticism. And what could be classed as aggression, if not from his autism or if it worsened unexpectedly could be the psychomoter agitation from tardive akathesia. This medical link explains all the various tardive conditions: ****.*** I have a variety of advanced tardive conditions.
Avatar m tn Risperdal is an anti-psychotic but that's a subclinical dose so perhaps your psychiatrist prescribed it for panic attacks but I haven't heard of it for that use though it may have some effects. There is no particular interaction between the two medications. If it helps then see what happens. At that small dose there shouldn't be many problems and at any dose those two medications can be used together safely.
Avatar n tn When I was changed from Seroquel to Risperdal I had some standard flu like withdrawal symptoms. Basically I felt run down and lousy and had some aches and pains and had to sleep a lot for a couple of days but it was nothing dangerous and it went away. Don't know if that was specific to that antipsychotic change over or would happen with others. Ask your psychiatrist for more specific information.
Avatar n tn Secondly even in transfering to another medication you will get some withdrawal symptoms as I did in the past when transfering from Seroquel to Risperdal which were fatigue and minor flu like withdrawal symptoms which pased in time and were not a problem. Follow your psychiatrist's titration schedule and ask them about available options.
642393 tn?1227032656 I've taken Abilify for yrs & love it. I have none of the side effects I had on other drugs. Try it!
Avatar f tn How can I safely-effectively wean myself off of Seroquel especially and at a later date topomax. I have put on 25 lbs. over 10 years and the Seroquel knocks me out at night and I feel groggy the next morning. 200 mg at night. I've lowered it to 100 mg each night this past week. I hope to do this for one month and see how it goes. My husband and I both dispute the bi-polar diagnosis of 10 years ago; not out of denial (as we are both very educated) but because of the symptoms.
Avatar f tn restless leg could be akathisia or development of dyskinesia please tell everything you experience as far as side effects to a medical doctor and keep the doctor that will listen to you Seroquel and Risperdal can not be taken together k choose one and add a antidepressant it works together kk hope this helps :)
337492 tn?1212458836 I have read horror stories all over the net about Risperdal. I asked my pdoc to give a low dose so I can get sleep. My biggest mixed state symptom is insomnia which equals mania. Yuck! So, I am doing awsome on Wellbutrin and Lithium and have not gone manic, but I am not sleeping at all! So, I thought adding a low dose of Risperdal is a good move?
Avatar f tn When I stopped medication (years ago before my current recovery) I became psychotic so that's never a good idea. When I was transferred from Seroquel to Risperdal with my psychiatrist's exact titration schedule (the only way it should be done) I got some typical flu like withdrawal symptoms for a few days and then it passed over. If your psychiatrist has authorized you to change medications, ask them exactly how it should be done and what to expect.
Avatar f tn I had some problem with weight gain from Seroquel and especially Risperdal. Abilify is less likely to do that but from what you say the Seroquel is tolerable except for the weight gain. Complex. It is important to keep the weight gain in check so I'd suggest having your psychiatrist refer you to a nutrionist and definitely get a test (at least once a year) for blood sugar levels and the like (on any antipsychotic).
Avatar m tn my doctor discontinued risperdal because it caused milk in my breast. that was june 8.......... well i still got milk in my breast.... now what?
561706 tn?1333947274 I've been diagnosed with cataracts; probably due to taking Seroquel for my BPl (I'm 41). Last year when I saw my eye doctor he told me I might be developing them and that was the first time I'd heard of that side effect. Yesterday he confirmed my diagnosis. He recommended "working around" my meds instead of going off them. Cataracts are relatively easier to treat then BP. I really llike Seroquel.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and have tried a number of medications at different times, usually a combination of 2 or 3 of the following: lithium, prozac, lexapro, seroquel, abilify, risperdal, klonopin, vistaril, zyprexa, ambien, rozerem, & depakote. Zyprexa, Benadryl, Depakote, and Seroquel have caused me to twitch and feel like my skin is crawling an hour (or a few) after I take them.
1255530 tn?1269867619 Insomnia, mania, and mixed episodes drove me crazy for years. Seroquel was the drug that finally kicked the worst of it. I had been on Zyprexa, Risperdal, Abilify, & Geodon, as well as Lamictal and Lithium and countless sleep drugs and sedatives. Seroquel isn't perfect, but it is magic for me compared to all of the other drugs I've been on. We're now adding in some Tegretol to see if it can make things even better. My husband - also bipolar - takes Seroquel too.
